Mal, feel free to speak for me anytime! You said it perfectly!Maleficent13 said:btw, boomhauer, not to speak for T_M but I don't think he believes that all opinions are right. In fact, I KNOW he doesn't. He is, however, an vehement advocate for freedom of speech, as am I.
His opinion in no way, shape or form promotes violence. Maybe in some wierd twisted way you can see violent overtones in Mr. Hopson's opinion, but I suspect you are one of the few that do. Which is to say, you are doing a good job ofboomhauer said:I guess I'm not then.
It seems VERY hypocritical to me to be against violence, but for freedom of speech that promotes violence.
But that's just me.

boomhauer said:It's predjudice against homosexuals. The most blatant reason for violence is predjudice.

Mr. Hopson is expressing his religious beliefs based on his understanding of the Bible. Whatever happened to freedom of religion? Does he get punched in the head for having that right, too?boomhauer said:You're right - Predjudice against minority groups NEVER leads to violence.![]()
Bob Slydell said:But it's not harming anyone (well, at least up to the point where you start smacking them across the head).

Interesting logic... prejudice is wrong, but violence is ok.boomhauer said:Sorry - I don't agree with predjudice in any way shape or form. It DOES cause damage - To the group being discriminated against.

Got evidence that his statement has led to or promoted any violence -- I mean apart from your clarion call to punch Mr. Hopson in his head?boomhauer said:Of course not. And I'm not arguing where his opinion is coming from. I'm simply saying, statements like the ones he made, lead to violence. If you can't take it, don't dish it.

Have any Jewish friends? Ask them what it's like to walk down the hallway of their school, and find a swastika painted on their locker. Ask them if it harmed them.
Please point out on this thread or any thread where I have said "prejudice is not wrong." I don't believe that religious beliefs constitute prejudice. Some Christians are able to accept the person without accepting/approving of that individual's lifestyle. Sorry you are unable to comprehend that distinction.boomhauer said:No more interesting than your logic....Violence is wrong, but predjudice isn't, simply because it's an opinion as opposed to an action.

Maleficent13 said:So, if this is your opinion, work to eliminate prejudice...but may I suggest that smacking all the people you disagree with upside the head is probably not the best way to try.
If you have a problem with ignorant people, then EDUCATE them.
