Waah I was so hoping I'd get a chance to ride it when I go May 13th through the 20th :(

This was from "Inside the Magic"

Confirmed with Disney the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will *not* officially open after Friday’s dedication. Official date TBA, likely late May. (Unannounced soft openings always possible until then.)

I thought this was normal? Dedication, then soft openings to test operations, then official opening?

Anyone else annoyed with all this? I'm not going until October so it doesn't even affect me but I'm still annoyed. They take YEARS to make a ride that is essentially a kiddy coaster with some nice theming....do a 'media blitz', let a ton of people ride it including staff and media.....and then don't open it for real for a few more weeks?
I was excited for the ride for a long time but my excitement is waning over this. Sorta like the new 'Girl Meets World'....I've been following the dang trailers for like 2 years now. Sh*t or get off the pot!

Yikes! I'll be there June 7th-14th. I *used* to be sure that I'd get to ride it during my trip, but now not so sure since they keep pushing back the date. *Keeping fingers crossed*

We'll be there June 6th-13th. Hopefully we will be waving to each other in the SDMT FP+ line :)

1) You have to remember that such a ride has MANY things to remedy before "opening".
2) If such are not accomplished well, the ride is further delayed.
3) They have to
. . . get the media on-board to publicize it and build hype
. . . get the bonus approved for Senior Park Managers
. . . get the bonus devised for Ogre (I mean Iger)
. . . get the bonus approved for Ogre
. . . get the bonus paid for Ogre
. . . then, and only then, can the public enjoy the ride

:cool1:

::yes:: And I'm wondering if the ride is going to live up to the hype.

I doubt it- I saw some youtube animatronics 'movie' about the making of it and it didn't look like anything special. Now Splash? THAT was special but it looks nothing more than a scene or 2 from splash with different characters.

At this point they might as well get the bugs fixed before opening it. They have taken this long no need to rush now.

Not in the case of the rest of New FL. The rides went through soft openings before any Media ceremony.

Ha, I thought I was the only one that felt this way about the Girl Meets World series!! :)

How on earth can anyone be annoyed by a ride at a park they won't be at for 6 months? It's not just you, PP. :goodvibes
Seriously, people on these boards spend all their time clamoring for new rides, they want them immediately, and then when they DO open new rides, they're not good enough. Or if they propose new lands, its a terrible idea and should have been _____________-land instead.

Disboards: Where no one is ever pleased.

Aha...good to know. I'm headed there in mid-June, so keeping fingers crossed. If not then, the next time.

No, I really don't think it's going to, at all. I imagine people getting off, looking at each other and saying "that's IT"? :confused3

Totally agree. Will not live up to the hype here. Of course, lines will snake around NFL, people will trample each other at RD, and thread after thread will discuss FP+ availability. But the company line out of these threads will be what a failure it is.

The audacity of them to put a "Kiddie Coaster" in New Fantasyland! Especially when Fantasyland has always been synonymous with inversion coasters.... :confused3

Snark all you want, I stand by what I said.

I'm leaving for Disney on Tuesday. I was really hoping to be able to fast pass it.

Here is my problem. YES, Disney is open year round so bldg. is a little harder at DW than other seasonal parks...BUT with that said....

I see Cedar Point, close in mid October.....with people debating and speculating about a new ride nearly every single year. Come December, we see land being cleared and another ride being removed, come May- I am welcomed to the park with a gigacoaster- built throughout a VERY harsh winter. 300 feet high, 100mph. Coaster that has 6500 feet of track. DONE and ready to go!

Disney is SLOW at building rides. They do it on purpose and I simply won't believe anyone who says otherwise.
