This just out about SDMT opening!

Universal was able to build a new harry potter area in half the time its taken for this ride and they deal with the same 365 schedule.. not to mention they were able to also build the transformers ride and renovate some areas all in much less time..

disney is a little slow on building their rides but part of that has to do with them wanting to get everything they can perfect

Ill give Harry Potter but not Transformers. Transformers is just a bunch of screens.

Disney announced from the beginning that the mine train would open in Spring of 2014......but it's only Disney so their announcements about their own rides don't mean nothing....it's only the unconfirmed rumors that count so everyone has a right to be angry!!!!! I believe the mine train will live up to the hype---just saw a video of the animatronics and the filming of the commercial and I cannot wait! Not sure why anyone would expect the mine train to be Expedition Everest. :confused3 Disney is not at fault for some people's ridiculous expectations.....this coaster will not disappoint the majority tourists.

Just let us know when you think Avatarland should be opened. Then prepare to be disappointed because you are not designing, building, or paying for the project, therefore you have no control (or knowledge about) their timetable.
January 2016! That's when.

When will Avatar 2 be going straight to DVD? Maybe Disney can coincide their AvatarLandTM opening with that Magical® date.

:thumbsup2

Avatar 1: Highest grossing film of all time (and its not even close)

Avatar 2: Straight to DVD. Of course. Because that's the way things usually go.

Look, I've never seen Avatar. I watched parts just because I heard WDW was making Avatarland and wanted to see what the imagery was. I loved what I saw. I couldn't care less about the story line....if they can recreate Pandora, I'm sold!!

I was also there in November and in February and had zero problems with my magic band, MDE, or FP+. I know this isn't everyone's experience, but not everyone had their vacation ruined by a bracelet either.

That was a bit rude to say people's vacations were ruined by a 'bracelet'. My friend's 'bracelet' wouldn't let her into the park half our days. So yeah, it puts a damper on your trip having to spend hours waiting at guest services at the parks and hotel trying to get tech problems figured out so you can enter the park.

That's nice you didn't have problems with your band, but many people randomly did. No one paid that much money to wait in lines to fix tech problems.

Haha!!!!! Cameron has billions and all of these new blockbusters can't beat his decade old blockbusters!!!!! Do they even make DVD's anymore????? Even Blu Ray is becoming outmoded by today's standards. I doubt Avatar II will flop......Cameron has got this cuz he's the big boss hog of Hollywood and film. Disney needs to be more worried about JJ Abrams and Star Wars because if that flops like the Lone Ranger-----there will be no Star Wars land and a whole bunch of light sabers in the bargain bin. Word on the street is that the die hard Star Wars fan community aint too happy with Disney right now. We'll shall see.

January 2016! That's when.

That's less than 2 years for demolition of existing area (Camp Minnie Mickey,) design of, building of, and testing of:
A. An E-ticket flying simulator
B. Pandora Boat ride (probably unique technology to recreate flora-fauna)
C. unique restaurants and shops

Plus, keep in mind that Disney is in NO rush. None. Their attendance continues to rise, as do their profits. Even when the HP hullabaloo is over at Universal, Disney will continue to be a place where a week isn't long enough to see everything.

And just when the shine is off the polish at Avatarland, they'll announce Star Wars Land.

Yeah, WDW is on the decline for sure!

Waah I was so hoping I'd get a chance to ride it when I go May 13th through the 20th :(

This was from "Inside the Magic"

Confirmed with Disney the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will *not* officially open after Friday’s dedication. Official date TBA, likely late May. (Unannounced soft openings always possible until then.)

Grr... What is Dinsey doing?! They had years to build this ride...

And to all the people saying people should not complain, hey we are paying top dollar and disney said it would open Spring 2014. End of May or beginning of June is Summer for all practical purposes NOT Spring 2014.... This is ridiculous. I really was thinking we would be able to ride it. I will not be able afford to go to disney again for years. :furious:

OK....fine. When Avatar 2 smashes the box offices with its mind-blowing computer graphix and world-changing storyline....AvatarLand will open (maybe....or it may be delayed).

Seriously, its a ride. One ride. And according to many, its going to suck anyway.

I didn't say my trip was ruined, but it certainly wasn't smooth. Wow! You gulp that Kool-Aid down don't you!

Ther is no way in Hades that Avatarland (ugh, btw) will be ready in time. It took Disney 7 years to minimize big thunder mountain and throw some dwarfs in a tunnel! :confused3

Of course, Avatar 3-4 would be right around the corner.... :duck:

So your point is??? Ohh wait you do not have a point. :duck:

I guess since this looks like it will not impact you (if you trip ticker is correct), I can understand why you do not care, but for those of us it is impacting, we care. Sorry if you can not understand.

Of course not, but this is what people are clamoring for on these boards. The latest and greatest in thrills which, of course, would be out of place in the one part of MK completely dedicated to the under 6 crowd.

We must be reading different threads. Most people who I've seen comment on SDMT being too tame were hoping for something more like thunder or space, not rock n roller coaster. :confused3

1. Kool-Aid has nothing to do with me not having problems. It would be Kool-Aid if I had problems and chose not to recognize them. Instead, I had no problems and therefore no reason for complaint.

2. It took seven years to make 7DMT? Wow, if this lore keeps going, you'll all be telling your grandchildren about how it took 20 years for Disney to build this ride!

It's funny, because the first mention of 7DMT was in April of 2011, even though they didn't actually start building it until later. However, they clearly wanted to build and open the original portions of NFL first: Dumbo (check), BoG (check), Princess Fairytale Hall (check.)

According to Disney Imagineering’s Diego Parras in 2012: “Since new Fantasyland will be so massive, we opted to open it in phases to get the experience to guests as quickly as possible.”

Unfortunately, as we all know now, both Be Our Guest and Fairytale Hall were colossal failures and no one goes there anymore.
