This just out about SDMT opening!

I guess I won't be stalking MDE anymore to see if FP+ has opened up for our trip at the end of May.
I would still check periodically you never know it may just pop up for your dates the open. It's supposed to open this month it's just when.

Interesting I thought they just started CM previews within this week.

Wasn't even CM previews, just a group of signups of CM's (150 College Program) that were part of a promotional filming a couple of days ago. No CM's rode it last week, other than POSSIBLY some that might have been doing training for the attraction.

The audacity of them to put a "Kiddie Coaster" in New Fantasyland! Especially when Fantasyland has always been synonymous with inversion coasters.... :confused3

Because it totally has to be an inversion coaster to not be considered a "kiddie coaster".

I must have missed where the inversions are on BTMRR, Space and Splash...

At this point they might as well get the bugs fixed before opening it. They have taken this long no need to rush now.

For sure.....we don't WDW rolling anything out with bugs affecting it. Look how carefully they handled the whole MB thing.....oh......wait..... :thumbsup2

The SDMT was *supposed* to open in late 2013. Now it's looking like it won't be open til halfway through 2014...I can understand why people are getting a bit impatient :confused3 As for "new lands" - while I may not be an avatar fan, I am happy that they're building something new. However, I also think they focused on the wrong park to build in. AK wasn't as much in need of new attractions as DHS and Epcot are. I think FP+ only highlights how desperately DHS and Epcot need something new. So, like I said...happy/"pleased" they're building something new, yes, but that doesn't mean I can't also think there were other areas that needed the attention more.:confused3
I think AK needs attractions just as much as DHS and I definitely think AK needs the nighttime entertainment as well. DHS needs more than Epcot though. Every park needs areas of improvement but I dont see Disney constructing at all four parks at the same time.

I think Disney has handled mymagic+ very well. If Disney rolled this out any faster or without any guest input it could have been an even worse disaster. That's why they test and roll it out over time.

I'm not saying it doesn't need attractions, but you don't have the ridiculously high demand on one or two attractions - demands that result in 80+ min waits daily, pretty much year round - in AK that you do in both DHS and Epcot. That's what I was referring to.

Regardless, Cedar Point builds towering coasters that loop and drop and all that. Hardly any theming. Its basically just track. They are not simultaneously operating 3 other parks within itself (not to mention the parks outside of FL) and building a new resort every year. If Cedar Point had to build even one resort, you can bet it would take away from a Coaster being built.
Just a quibble, here: Cedar Fair, the parent company of Cedar Point, operates a dozen amusement parks all over the US and into Canada, including Knott's Berry Farm in California. They ARE simultaneously operating other parks that are not located within close proximity. Cedar Point is not a stand-alone entity.

I get that I just think Epcot is still a few years off before seeing anything major new. DHS needs to get an expansion soon and it needs to be something big. Epcot still gets 11 million. DHS has the worst attendance of the 4 parks.

Indeed......'cept, I think maybe some of the earlier folks who waited around the hotel lobbies while front desk personnel figured out how to get them into their rooms, etc., may feel a bit differently.

Thankfully guests were willing to be paying test subjects though. Maybe Disney can do the same thing with the Mine Train thingy....guests can be the test subjects. That way they can really dial in the maximum excitement quotient on the swing cars, whilst determining the best swing rate before the car pitches Li'l Johnny out to become the 8th Dwarf in the diorama.

Earlier folks? You mean the ones there now? MDE and MB are still far from bug free. Very far from it. I can't imagine anyone truly, honestly, with all their heart believes the roll out of MDE was handled very well. Could it have been worse, sure it could have been. But it wasn't very good either.

I can totally understand how those of you travelling there in the next few weeks would be frustrated, I would be too! We go in August, I'm thinking it will be open by then. :goodvibes

I do think it's been looking more and more like a June opening for the last several weeks, so not shocked by this. I had kind of hoped they'd announce an actual date at the media event but doesn't sound like they will be? I guess we'll see.

I would guess that there should be some soft openings through May, at the very least.

I was giving rteetz the benefit of the doubt.

Of course this technological rollout has been a train wreck. A magical train wreck....but a train wreck.....a happy-music-belching, character-laden, confectionary-scented train wreck....but a train wreck, nonetheless.

Um...as a park visitor last November and this February, if Disney handled MM+ very well...I certainly missed it! :)

Annoyed! Its getting Ridiculous how long have we been waiting for this...

If they took this long for a kiddie ride I'm afraid what will happen with Avatarland.

Of course not, but this is what people are clamoring for on these boards. The latest and greatest in thrills which, of course, would be out of place in the one part of MK completely dedicated to the under 6 crowd.

I think its more a matter of what project they're doing next and where it fits best. Avatarland IS next, and it fits best at AK.
StarWars land will be after that (unless major FW refurb happens at Epcot first) and it will be at HS.
Star Wars next trilogy starts Dec 2015. That would be a great time to announce plans for SWL at HS, IMO.

Totally right. I've always grown up with Cedar Point as what I considered to be a stand alone. Since Cedar Fair has started and developed/purchased other parks across the country, I've lost track.

DHS seems prime for some attention. We have been noticing it more and more and hearing the same from others. Hopefully its something cool and not just a bunch of lame Tatooine overlays.

Glad they built the 7dmt. Don't care if its a kiddie coaster, its a kiddie park :confused3 It's not a thrill ride for me but it is for a 4yo. Let them have a little fun every now and then tooo. :)

Here now and bummed. I can't ride coasters, but other attractions will be closed dedication morning, due to festivities. :(

I was also there in November and in February and had zero problems with my magic band, MDE, or FP+. I know this isn't everyone's experience, but not everyone had their vacation ruined by a bracelet either.

Just let us know when you think Avatarland should be opened. Then prepare to be disappointed because you are not designing, building, or paying for the project, therefore you have no control (or knowledge about) their timetable.
