This is us..

Well, I was trying to get through it and the "manny freak out scene" is really hard to get through since it is absolute hay. Come on...
I will give it another go and try and get through the scene, because I LOVE some of the cast.

Love this show! I'm not crazy about Randal wife she seems almost hateful. I just adore Kate and Toby they are so realistic to me.

I also got the vibe that Randal and Miguel don't have the best relationship either.

I feel the same way about Beth (Randall's wife) sometimes. But other times I think maybe she's just very protective of him. After this episode, she kind of mirrors the protection that his mother has for him. They both realize that he is so giving that he may give too much of himself without them intervening. And he gets so focused on the cause at hand that they need to remind him of what he's giving up for that cause. They help provide his balance but sometimes need to be a little harsh to do so.

I love Kate and Toby. Kevin really grew on me this episode.

I sat here for thee or four minutes thinking 'who's Manny'? I even reread the last few pages to see if I had missed something huge LOL

Then it clicked..

I hope you stick with the show; it's so good.

I think Randals wife is just really protective of him. She knows he is a kind gentle soul who sees the best in everyone. She knows he probably gets taken advantage of easily. My take is that she is just fiercely protective of him.

I also got the impression Randall wasn't Miguel's biggest fan.

I really, really want to know what the catch is with Toby. Not that I think he's a serial killer or anything, but no one is endlessly funny, kind, and positive. He's got to have some faults and issues and I'm intrigued to learn what they are.

Did you see the preview for next week? He has an ex-wife.. not that that's a "catch", but will cause a bit of drama, I'm sure!

On the PI thing I wonder if since mom knew a little about Randall's dad if she gave him that information in a way that would make him believe she couldn't find him but they knew xyz about him. At the same time I wonder if Randall started with his bio-mom and went from there to find his dad. So they could have look at women who were found dead or reported dead from around the time of his birth and then went from there contacting her known associates to then lead them to his bio-dad.

No! I hadn't seen that. I watch on Hulu so I don't get the previews. THAT should definitely be interesting! It's nice to see him get some depth.

I'm assuming this is news to Kate? It seems like the fact that you're divorced would ordinarily come up over the course of the several dates they've been on.

That seems very plausible.

Oh you need to find the preview! The ex wife is very thin and pretty (or at least to me) and that seems to be what will be the issue to Kate not necessarily that there is an ex.

Yes.. I watch on Hulu too, but I saw the preview today on their facebook page!

No it's not news, it's the fact that she looks like a super model that is the news :-)

What I see in Toby is he's unconsciously sabotaging Kate's efforts to lose weight. It's very subtle but it's there. I'm hoping it's something that comes up in future episodes because it's a very common thing.

I have actually thought that as well.

Oh, heck yeah! That should hit just about every major insecurity she has.

And sometimes pretty vocally too. It's OK if he's decided that he's not interested in losing weight at the moment, but that doesn't mean he can discourage her. As grim as that egg white thing did look, a little support would not have gone amiss!

I hope Toby isn't sabotaging her. I don't think he is. She made a comment in another episode like, "How come you are loosing weight and I am not?" So maybe it's just easier for him?
