This is Us- Season four

I’m almost positive the test box said “Ovulation Predictor”. I can’t believe they would make that mistake, so I think there’s a lot more to the story!
Nice catch! I didn't even notice.
But then someone said it was actually an ovulation test, and I ran the DVR back - and it definitely was! So maybe she was planning on getting pregnant that weekend at the cabin, to get him to marry her??
So glad you were able to run it back to confirm. Curiosity was killing me!

And yet again with the "the most unrelated things making the biggest difference" theme - the guy with the photo of Randall's mom seeing the accidental viral video and learning who and where he is - :scared1:

And that director is a jerk! Tell him if you want him to do it again, sure, but tell him how you want him to it. He wasn't asking for an "atta boy", he was asking for direction (from, you know, the director).
I turned away for two seconds and missed the part with the Asian grandfather. What happened?

And who was the gift left for Kevin that said "atta boy" from?

And another thought, do any of you distrust Ellie? She seems to me like she makes up an answer to everything Kate says. Chloe - old high school enemy. And the way she says she likes everything Kate and Toby like, the Steelers, TV shows. She doesn't seem genuine.

Thanks for all of your answers to my questions. You are better than Google.

In the end, someone was watching and re-winding the viral video at the point where Randall says, "I am doing this for my father William Hill." The camera pans out and we see it is the Asian man from last week watching that snippet over and over. The camera moves and we see the photo of the Asian man and Randalls mom. The same photo we saw last week, in it they are young and holding each other smiling. So due to the viral video, he now knows where Randall is. Could be he makes contact. We still don't know who this man is or what his relation is to Randalls mom or if she is even alive. But there is a connection.

The "atta boy" was from Kevins director who was so hard on him. When Kevin was asking him what he could do better to please him, the director said something like, "I didn't realize you were the kind of actor who needed an atta boy." Meaning he thought Kevin needed a lot of praise and coddling. I think the gift was kind of the directors way of saying he had a lot of faith in Kevin and was hard on him because he believes he can be a great actor when pushed. At least that was why take!

Not sure about Ellie yet.

I know...3 nights of the show and then the long break...blah.

They bring the series back, knowing they can't pick up immediately the following week because of election coverage, give us two more weeks and then it's see ya in 2021? Very annoying to say the least.

Very interesting take on the Ellie dynamic. That's ordinarily the type of thing I notice, but it flew right over my head -- and yet there it is, right out there, plain as day.

I thought the Randall/Malik plot was rushed and sloppy -- but then I realized it was really the means to an end for the writers to lead back to Laurel, because the trail options are pretty sparse and cold with William gone and Randall believing she's dead too.

I didn't catch that was an Ovulation Test. I wonder was she trying to get pregnant or was the abusive boyfriend pressuring her to get pregnant. I think Ellie is on the up and up. I think the Chloe story was to get Kate to think back to the abusive boyfriend. Here Ellie had a fairytale life with her high school boyfriend and Kate had a horrible one and does look like a pregnancy was involved.

I still think Randall's mom was with that older Asian man after William. I'm guessing they met right after she OD'd, whether it was in the hospital or perhaps at a rehab place and she decided to go off to Vietnam with him to start a new life.

I felt bad for Kevin, that director was such an ***. To me it didn't seem like Kevin's acting was any worse than the woman's, but I guess we are to believe it wasn't and this guy was just trying to get the best out of Kevin. I was hoping after Kevin talked to Kate he would call Randall and tell him how he still uses the color coded cards and thank him, but that didn't happen.

It was nice to see Randall in a funny situation and how he handled it. They make him so uptight, so was nice to see him accept his faux pas, although it was really Malik's, but he was the butt of it lol.

I agree. Remember last week Toby said something like "It's like she's been stalking us on Social Media". It really does seem like that.

At first I thought abortion, because of the conversation with the adoptive mom, then I wondered if it was the awful weekend with the abusive boyfriend. But then someone said it was actually an ovulation test, and I ran the DVR back - and it definitely was! Oh boy, this opens up a whole new can of worms. Did she get pregnant? Did she have an abortion or miscarriage? There is so much more to the story with Kate and this guy. It may explain so much when they finally unravel it.

The way the photo of the Asian man and Laurel was posed, doesn't it look like she's pregnant?

And I am totally bummed out about the "January 5th" announcement! I feel like we just got the show back!!

I guess that answers the question that he knew Laurel after William???

I did have a feeling Ellie might change her mind, but now you’ve all got me thinking maybe she’s scamming them. :guilty:

I forgot about Toby saying it's like she stalked us on Social Media. I guess when I first heard him say that, I didn't think anything of it since if I was giving my baby up for adoption, I would probably stalk the people on social media too, just to find out as much about them as I could, but of course since this is a TV show, maybe she is playing a con on them. That would really suck if that's the case and I just don't see why they would go down that road, but then again, it does seem in the future that Toby and Kate are not together, so maybe if Ellie does scam them, that is what breaks them up.

I still think laurel was told Randall died or was that he was taken as a ward of the state after her OD. If she did live and find William I can see him not admitting he abandoned him and saying he died. It would also explain why William was so forgiving of Rebecca for not telling Randall about him and why he always told Randall to forgive his mom. She may have told this new man she had a baby that was given away or that died and he put it together when he saw the video.

Well now you all have me turning on Ellie too. LOL!!! I am trying to remember about the flash forward where we see Jack as an adult. We know he has a sister in that flash forward, but I can't remember much about her or what her name was. Does anyone remember anything about her? I think she worked in a museum and I think she was white? I don't think she was Asian, which would indicate they adopted internationally.

I hope Ellie is not a scammer. She seems so sweet and that she has really taken a liking to Kate and Toby.

her name was Hailey (per Google because I forgot) and she looked white to me too.

I have a hard time believing William knew Laurel was alive and didn't admit it to Randall. If Laurel located William afterwards, perhaps he was deep in his own addiction and she didn't attempt to speak with him, assuming that the baby had died? If she was sober after struggling to get there she might have decided to simply steer clear of an addicted William because she feared relapsing -- especially if she thought being with him would be constant reminder of the baby they lost, giving both even more reasons to use.

Nothing ever goes smoothly for these characters, so I'm going to assume something is up with Ellie. The adoption may fall through and Kate gets pregnant again.
