It's possible Laurel was with the mystery Asian man before William. It may just be a way to uncover more about her past.

I'm thinking that Laurel and the grandfather may have got together after his wife died, and that she's still in his life. I don't know if his granddaughter lives with him or is just visiting... Or, if Laurel was in his life earlier, but isn't anymore, something happened to their relationship and they drifted apart.

I have a bad feeling they are going to kill off Madison during childbirth. They can say the bulimia damaged her heart, since that is a very real thing.

I thought this week program was much better then last weeks, but want to add, that Randle is all torubloed by things in his childhood, well first his kids have os good, but not as good as he did, sure everyone has issues but his childhood was filled with parents that loved and cared for him, and made sure he had every advantage, so he needs to put on his big boy pants

Wow, I’m so glad I found this thread! Ive been a fan from the very first episode! I was confused for a second because this is Season Five and the thread is season four.

instead of making a big huge post, I’m just going to put some bullet points. Hope that’s ok

• not a huge fan of the first plot twist of the season. When Randall’s mom breathed I actually said oh come on out loud

• Annie has grown up so much since the show started!

• Kevin is my favourite character, and I noticed in the first episode (can’t remember what part) but they used the same music that was featured in the Kevin centred episode in season one or two. Fatherhood is going to look good on him.

•I think the lady in the pictures was Randall’s birth mom. It adds a whole new layer, but I hope they don’t take it too extreme.

We have never seen Madison in any flash forward so who knows what that means, if anything.

•We will be getting close to knowing why it appears Kate and Toby aren’t together in the flash forward.

I could go on and on..thanks for hopefully accepting another fan

I noticed that too. We just picked up in last season's thread instead of starting a new one, and I was going to suggest to the OP that she change the title to say "season 4 and 5" but, as someone else pointed out, she hasn't been here in a while.

I really have a love/hate relationship with this show. Every year I get irritated and say I am going to quit watching ... and yet I don't. This seasons opener was such a downer. I hated it. Said this is it! I'm out. And yet there I was watching episode 2 on Tuesday.

No doubt, this was better than last week ... but seriously, come on. It wouldn't take much. Still, do Toby and Kate have to bicker every episode? Who cares that the diapers were left in the trunk? Good grief, so you got 2 boxes. Big deal! Oh, Randall. Look around you. You have a beautiful family, your health (so far, it is after all, This Is Us), and you still wallow in self pity. Ugh, Beth needs to shake it out of you. Geez. Best story line of the week was Kevin. The last scene in the garage was very good. Finally! I am beginning to like Madison. She is becoming a real character.

Am I the only one that finds it ridiculously impossible that the kid would never have asked Grandpa about the lady before? Clearly they spend a good deal of time together and as he mentioned repeatedly, she never stops asking questions. This show has always been such a juxtaposition between really, really clever plot devices to move the story along and stuff like this that's just stupid.

Stop being such a petulant party pooper Annette.

Made me laugh and reminisce about season one? when the majority of people on this thread were emotionally overwhelmed about the scene where Kevin leaves his play for Randall. Totally did them in.

And all me and another poster could focus on was --- Hey! How the hell did Kevin bypass security and get into a downtown office elevator so late at night?

I agree! And how would they not have remembered that their potential birth mother was standing right there taking in that whole fight? I was sure that the camera was going to pan to an empty space where she had been standing--that she had just taken off seeing them go on and on about the diapers.
