Man I can't wait to be at BC concierge on the 21st of Feb....so much snow this year!

We have a standard room concierge level booked can anyone tell me what to expect?

The other views/deluxe rooms are booked but to be honest I would have taken any view! The CL is a surprise for dh, we are at a conference at the Omni from the 17th to the 21st but wanted at least one night onsite. He knows we are at an epcot resort but not which one or that we are CL.

We will probably be at Epcot sun and mon evenings so viewing IL is not an issue. This is one of the few resorts we have not stayed at yet - I have read through quite a few of the beginning of the thread and will continue. Meanwhile, support, advise and tips are welcome!

TIA
TJ - who is about to go back out and shovel for the millionth time in three days while my kids climb the walls :rotfl:

TJ,

I know exactly what you're going through - I'm in Mass. too! I think all the snowplows are on vacation cause all the roads are a mess. I broke my foot a few weeks ago so walking around in all this snow is not much fun. I can't wait to be sittiing on the YC balcony or watching my kids playing at Storm-a-long Bay on a warm Florida afternoon! My April trip can't come fast enough!

SnowWhiteIsDreaming: You can call room service or better yet just talk to your itinerary planner before hand, tell her what you want, which night and she'll arrange everything for you. I did it as a surprise to my husband so it was waiting in the room when we came back after dinner. I LOVE those itinerary planners!! They're great!

Don't know if this has been asked before but here goes: I booked standard view for next week with an AP discount through DU. Any chance I can get any type of upgrade upon arrival? I'd even be willing to pay if necessary, what do you think the chances might be? We'll be arriving around 3PM on Thursday if that makes a difference. Also, I 'm now seeing that SAB is closed for refurbishment :( Any options for that?
I had a standard room booked and requested to have garden view, lake side. We arrived on a Saturday at about 1 pm and, without asking, we were upgraded to lake view, a beautiful view of Illuminations.

Disneyholic, did you request this ahead of time or upon arrival?

The garden view (lakeside) is considered to be a standard room? How far in advance did you request this? Thanks so much for the info.

I was just going back over this thread and realized that I never posted my review of the YC after my stay there last Aug. Well I intend to correct that right now!

I stayed at the Yacht Club Aug. 1-9 last year with my two aunts and their children, 12, 12, 8, 5. The room numbers escape me, but we were first floor water view rooms that were in the section of the building right on the boardwalk looking on to the lake. The view was spectacular and we loved our room location. We reserved waterview rooms and requested connecting rooms. Upon checkin our assigned rooms were all the way across the resort from one another, one of them being on the concierge floor (!) It was decided that we would give up both of those rooms in order to have connecting rooms. So we had one double room and one king room in the location described above. Not having two doubles in both rooms made for some interesting sleeping arrangements, but it worked out fine in the end. The rooms were good sized, though not huge and were pleasantly decorated. We enjoyed having the wet bar area in the king room, but I thought the overall themeing of the double room was better.

We recieved wonderful service from every single cast member we encountered. The small coffee and pastry counter just to the side of the convention checkin desk was a great choice for a quick bite in the morning and we also had some wonderful meals at the Yacht Club Galley. We didn't really enjoy our dinner at Beaches and Cream on the first night, but we did get ice cream from the take out section on several occasions. IT was really plesant to eat it out on the patio overlooking the pool.

Now on to the pool! What can be said about Storm Along Bay that hasn't been said already. We loved it! The kids had to get their pool time in evert day and the adults enjoyed their late afternoon cocktails from Hurricane Hannah's. I was required to show my room key for myself and the kids on several occasions.

Overall I loved my stay at the Yacht Club, and I wish I could afford to stay there on future trips. I'm happy to answer any questions and fill in any blanks.

Hi, We are going to the BCV from Feb11 - 15th and I read about people booking concierge rooms? Are these rooms specific to the hotel or are avail in the Villas too. What are they exactly? Do all the Villas have good sized balconies or are some better than others. We are staying in a 2 bedroom. It's our first time at BCV. I've been learning a lot from everyone on this site. Thanks.

Welcome Kington. Concierge service is limited to rooms inside the BC resort. There is actually a great vacation club forum on the DIS and they are extremely knowledgeable about the villas. Here's the direct link so you don't have to go searching, DVC Forum . Check around and ask questions. I know that some folks have complete breakdowns on what are the best villa locations at each resort and even what views and sleeping arrangements they have. I'll take a look around and if I can find the post, I'll edit this one and add the link.

EDITED: I found the link for everything you ever wanted to know about the BCV http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=257950.

I just spoke with the YC directly and the person said that there is a Guest Services desk at the hotel. Can anyone tell where this is located. She said that they can activate APs and sell APs there without going to the office at the International Gateway. If this is a fact it is wonderful information!

I had standard rooms booked and had requested on our reservation for the garden view/lake side. These standard rooms include view of the gazebo facing away from Epcot. I figured better there than a parking lot or tennis court view. I didn't say a word upon arrival - the upgrade was given to us automatically.

They were also first floor rooms which I think were absolutely wonderful. Our 2 little boys loved romping around in the grassy area while we stayed on the porch. Even though we had a view of Illuminations, we often just walked a few steps over to the marina area to view them even better. We walked from our patio on over not worrying about locking up because it was right in our view. How convenient was that!

My honest feeling is asking for everything you want on your reservation, keeping your most important requests first. My first request was actually nonsmoking.

One thing I know is that the Yacht Club was booked up the week we went because it was the weekend of Super Soaps and during the F&W festival. I truly think we were lucky to get the rooms (in fact, we had 3 of them because we traveled with my parents and inlaws) all upgraded.

Guest Services is, I believe, right at the front desk.

When you go in the main entrance of the YC, the registration area is on your right and the guest services desk is on your left.

Thank you! :)

Does anyone know the answer to the question as to whether the yacht club can activate AP's right at their Guest Services, and not have to do this in the park? I will be at Beach Club and feel that they probably do this too if the Yacht does. This would be wonderful if it is indeed true!

Our understanding is that you have to go to the International Gateway (Epcot-5 min walk) guest services area to have them activated there. Resort guest services do not activate APs. This is what we intend to do but I am not sure whether we need an activated AP to get our AP room rate before we check in or if we can show it to them later.

In the YC is that little coffee/pastry counter near the convention check in desk always open? Is it basically bagels, muffins etc...????

I am used to having the Bakery over at BWI so hoping to have a place to grab a quick bite in the mornings at YC before heading to parks.
