GoofyJoofy, I'm not sure if I can mention the site that I saw it on, because it's very similar to the wdwinfo website. I'll put the room description that they have listed though: "The rooms at the Yacht Club are both spacious and decorated in nautical motif. My favorite! In each room the furniture is white with carvings of small ship's wheels in the headboard. The rooms come in either two queen-size beds with daybeds. Some rooms have one king-size bed with two sleeper sofas. The bathrooms are large and have separate vanity with double sinks. Each room has a ceiling fan, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, newspaper delivery, mini-bar, makeup mirrors and table with checkerboard tops."

Do you think it's accurate? It doesn't mention whether they are describing standard or suites. I agree with you though, I don't understand how a larger deluxe room can only sleep 4 people. We ran into that during one of our GF stays. I felt like a dunce, but I had to have the cm at CRO keep explaining to me that it would only hold 4 people. I honestly thought that she was the one who had to be wrong.

YCFAN, I'm only managing because I was able to tell my oldest DD about it. She's not going to be able to come because of finals at college. So at least I have someone to talk to you about it. Plus all my friends here on the DIS. If it wasn't for that, I'd definitely have blown it. I'm terrible at keeping secrets.

I will tell my family eventually, but I'm trying to hold off until Thanksgiving. I haven't figured out yet how I'm going to do it, but it might involve them getting an early package from the North Pole.

No, a NEW code could be applied to an existing reservation by re-booking it but each code only has a certain number of rooms per hotel that can be attached to that code. Once a code reaches that number then you can't book against it anymore. Am I making any sense or only confusing you?

Sorry, I think I am making this confusing... I understand how the codes work but I think the CM was telling me the hotel is completely booked.... so that means they might not offer other codes??

I just called and they don't have any codes associated with my name. They did however have a AAA rate for 399.50/night. That's still pretty decent savings off of rack rate of $475/night. The cost of AAA is $60/year.

What dates are you going?

Those rates were for September.

Also, for some reason when they updated the information this year about the resorts on the computer system for CRO, the YC rooms that are water view show a capacity of 4 people yet right across the hall in a garden view they show a capacity of 5. Same size room. We needed a five person but wanted lagoon view. My IPO planner told me to just leave one person off the reservation and add them when we got there, also to request a room with the day bed. We were in concierge and they were aware of this. If you were just in a regular room you would risk not getting the day bed and then what would you do? I really don't understand why it's like that now. It doesn't make too much sense.

Hi all -

OK - it's official! Our family will be at the YC in early December! Does anyone have any photos of the concierge lounge - or can tell me about the types of food offerings?

We're getting excited!

Thanks for any info -

Aloha!

Breakfast is rather typical with cereals, fruits, bagels, toast, muffins, sweet rolls but I do remember them having rather nice loaf breads like gingerbread or banana nut or things like that. They also have all the extras like peanut butter, cream cheese, jellies and milk, juice, coffee and tea. They also have soft drinks any time they are open. They keep them under the buffet in the cabinet just help yourself. Mid-day they have snacks like goldfish, crackers, chips, etc. I really wasn't in there too much during the middle of the day. They also have snacks for the kids, m&m's, gummy bears, etc. In the evening they have wine served in real glasses (sorry, I hate drinking wine from a plastic cup) and cheese, crackers, vegetables, dips, breads, hummus, etc. and usually two hot dishes also. The hot dishes could be anything from chicken to a noodle dish to the last time we were there they had clams and mussels in a garlic sauce. Their food is usually very good. The kids get a hot dish too, mac-n-cheese or something usually. Later they serve cordials and desserts. Their desserts are ALWAYS good. They have tarts, brownies, cakes, pies and the BEST homemade cookies (especially the oatmeal) you've ever tasted. I really like the lounge. It's not as large as some of the other resorts but I like the quaint feel and it's always nice and clean. There's a small area for kids with kid size table and chairs and a TV in the wall that's at their eye level. They also keep large bottles of water in glass bottles that you can have to take back to your room, all you have to do is ask for it. If you need something, don't hesitate to ask. They can usually get it for you and if they can't they will simply tell you it's not available at that time. They always seem eager to please and I love getting off the elevator and always having someone there to greet you and help if you need to ask a question. If you have any other questions, please ask. I'd be glad to help.

Yes all the Concierge rooms are on the 5th floor. Although if u want to stay on another floor you can pay for concierge service and be allowed up on the floor.

You don't have to worry about juggling your tray in the elevator, although some rooms are very far away. The room assigner assigns rooms 5 days out. You can call the concierge staff when it gets within that range, and ask if your room number has been assigned.

You will love it!! The staff in wonderful. You know the saying, "If you don't see it, ask?" Its soo true there.

If I contact the yacht club planner and request a room a week before we check in, what are the chances we will get the room we want?

Everytime I've been it's been something different. Like I said anything from chicken to a noodle dish to seafood. The food is always good and I like it that they don't always have the same things. Some nights are better than others but then I guess it's what you particularly like yourself. The clams and mussels in garlic sauce were to die for. I could have made a meal out of them but I had plans so I did my best just to sample. LOL!!

Thanks... Sounds like the food is good... This is my first time at the Yacht Club...

Another question.. .off topic... how do I add one of those count downs to my disney trip to my signature?

amcghfan01 - follow this link to the tech boards:

Get your countdowns here!

where they will give you instructions and ask you to test your counter before adding it to your signature.

Goofy, enough chatting already, you have packing to do!

Hey, how about those storms tonight? We had a good one roll through about 20 minutes ago. DH was very excited. He's a closet meterologist and would love to switch places with Jim Cantore for just one day.

Wishing you a safe journey.

Tammi - Thank you for the well wishes. We are packing as I type.

And the storms got even more intense here around 2 AM. I felt the house shake once or twice with the thunder...

Off to pack.....then on to Disney World & the Beach Club!!!

Joe Cool & friends:

Sorry, tried to read most of this thread, but its really long. Has anyone requested, or stayed in the BC rooms 3rd floor, dormer balcony, std, facing forest? Looks so peaceful? Quiet, yet, can watch people walking to and from epcot? Wondering if this is a highly requested area, or no man's land? We have yet to get an area we requested at yc or bc, so thought we might try there?

Thanks, for any info on this area. MKY princess:

I am staying on the 5th floor at the Yacht Club in Nov. Any suggestions on what room number I should request??

View, closest to the concierge food, etc.

thanks
