We always use valet - it is $6 per night and if you use the car to go to another resort (say to have dinner) the valet service is good for that resort as well - they place a card in your window that says "YC - Valet". I'm sorry - I can't help with charges being waived for conceirge.
I believe the only guests that get waived valet charges are DVC members staying in BCV. We rented points and we were able to valet park at no charge since our room key card said "DVC Member". It was definitely a perk as we used the car a few times and could call down about 10 minutes prior to us needing the car.

Thanks for your replies on the parking deal.

I don't know what to do. We've never rented before and not driving or thinking about directions is one of the things that makes this vacation such an escape from the real world.

However, DM(70) is having more difficulty getting around and thought a car might help her out. It would at least making getting to HDD and DTD/Disneyquest easier on her. Easier to get to AK too.

Will have to give it more thought...

Thanks again, Sharon

We have always rented a car and have never paid for parking at any of the hotels. We always drive from one hotel to another to have breakfast or dinner and have only had to tip the valet. :Pinkbounc

This thread is great, but at 67 pages it is a little much to dig through!

The links on the front page showing each floor plan and rooms are not working for me - at least not today.

So here are my questions: is it possible to see EPCOT and maybe Illuminations from the Beach Club rooms? If so, which ones? Somewhere I think I read to request a 5th floor room because they used to be conceirge. Is that good advice?

If I want a non-smoking room that sleeps four with a view of EPCOT (& Illuminations) with a balcony of some sort, do I reserve a standard water view room with these requests? Or is this a garden view room? Which of the rooms have day-beds? Is that suites only?

I KNOW the links on the first page would help me if they were working!

Thanks for all your help!

Jackie

Hi ~ anyone know why none of the photos are loading on the YC/BC thread and the floor plans are broken links as well :(

Sad for us BC/YC fans

Hello.. anyone know why the photos and floor plans are not working on the FAQ thread?

>>^..^<<

hmm, so I faxed Beach Club today with a list of about 20 preferred rooms, all "garden view" rooms on the lakefront side (with a sideways peek at the lake), on the 2nd & 3rd floors.

The Room Controller replied back, that none of my preferred rooms were available during Aug 17-26, due to "refurb of exterior siding" that is going on.

Has anyone recently returned from Beach Club? Is there a lot of exterior construction going on, on the lakefront side? Would I be better off trying to switch to Yacht Club?

It seems my last few visits to Beach Club, that there is ALWAYS some kind of construction going on ... :(

Hi there..... Scaffolding :(

Here is a recent thread with eye witness reports

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=418941

I aksed concierge about it and she said there was quite a bit, she said she would have moved me to YC if I wanted except it was sold out... I didn't want to move anyway... but on the bright side - if that whole section is closed there will be less guests and less people at stormalong bay :)

Here I go again, thinking about changing resorts. Seems like Disney is not offering room only codes very much lately and I really want to get the most bang for the buck. Right now I have reservations for two preferred rooms at CBR. CBR rooms only sleep 4 and we're a family of 5, so I was forced to reserve two rooms at the rack rate at $159 a night each. I have AAA but the discounted rate is not offered for the room type I chose. Anyway, I keep hearing about Stormalong Bay, and I think my boys would love it. Their ages are 9, 11 and 14. I priced a standard room at BC and it's about $300 cheaper than the two rooms at CBR. Here are my questions:

1. Would one room at BC be comforable for all of us?
2. Is the pool at BC worth changing resorts?
3. Can you see Illluminations from BC like you can at CBR?
4. How is the transportation at BC; better than CBR?
5. Is there a AAA rate for standard rooms at BC?
6. If I request a fridge at check-in, is there a daily fee?
7. Is the main pool super crowded during mid August?

Sorry for so many questions. I was getting cross eyed trying to sift through all the pages on this thread, so I thought I'd see if some kind soul would be willing to take the time to answer my questions. Thanks!:D

Hi there Great Thread!

Will someone please help me with some questions.

#1 Anyone know when the painting / construction will be done?
#2 Has anyone ever stayed in a connecting room they really loved (any corner rooms that connect?)

We have a guarentee that our rooms will connect, so just wondering where they are and what to request.

Thanks!

Hi
I have never stayed at the BC, but I did stay at the YC. The pool is great! Not too crowded if you go at the right time.

We always went about 5pm(that is when everyone is going back to the parks after ther break.)Alot of people go back to the resort around noonish and then go back to the parks.

You can see the fireworks from the resort.(only the top of them, not the stuff that they do on the water).

The trans. is suppose to be good and remember you can walk to Epcot in about five min. and you can also walk to MGM in about 10 to 15 min. I dont know about the buses we had a car and that was for AK. You can take the monorail to MK from epcot. So I think it is a great local for a resort.

I dont know about AAA.

You can request a fridge at a cost(I think about $15 a night), but we just used the one in the mini bar there was a little room and you can always take the drinks out that you dont want to use(because of being charged for it)and put your own stuff in. We didnt have to do that even with there drinks in there it still fit two sm. bottles of wine and a couple of bottles of water.

We really love the YC! I wish we could go there every time, but that was an Ann. trip so we splurged.

Hope this helped:)

We stayed at YC last year, I have 3 boys they absolutely loved stormalong, we had enough room for the 5 of us. My middle son slept on the day bed. We brought a cooler with us for drinks. The location, walking around the boardwalk, boat ride was great. We also stayed at CBR, very nice. In my opinion, I wouldn't even think twice - stay at the beach club. We wanted to stay there this past summer, but there were no room only discounts out and we have passes left over.

We missed 2002 in our annual trek to WDW. Heard that the BC concierge was re-done...? Has anyone visited concierge in the last year? Also any suggestions for great room numbers...water view?

Hi anita46, I am at BC concierge right now - the room is beautiful and everything looks clean and new. We have a waterview room but it is a bit of a hike from the lounge (5705) I would say something closer would be better but I am happy with our nice view of the boardwalk.

THe food offerings in the lounge are first rate - we are really enjoying our stay.

Hi Cass!

Thanks for the quick reply and while on vacation too!
Really appreciate that.

Great to hear that the BC is all spruced up again. It was looking a little long in the tooth in 2001.

Think I'll ask for a waterview room close to the elevators and hope for the best.

Enjoy the rest of your stay.

Anita
