I posted this under the Concierge ?s before realizing there was a more specific forum--Any help is greatly appreciated

I have been looking through numerous threads & can't seem to find a good/concise answer. We are planning on going to WDW either the last week of November or first week of December 07. It will just be myself, DH & our 4 yo DS. DS is asking to go to WDW so we figured we would take the plunge. DH (after viewing the Vacation planning DVD) decided he wanted to stay at either the BC or YC. Now, after talking to several people, he wants to stay CL at YC.

I understand the offerings in the CL food wise have changed & some people have not enjoyed the attentiveness of the staff. DH is a bit of a foodie & loves Baileys as his cordial of choice--especially on vacation. Heck, he can drink $20/night worth of Baileys. In your opinion, is it worth it? We are planning on doing the Dining Plan so we won't be looking to replace meals (obviously). In addition, I am a Diet Coke addict! Do they have Diet Coke in the CL lounge or will I have to purchase a mug.

If they don't have Diet Coke, just tell them it is your drink of choice and they will get it for you but the last time I looked, Diet Coke was there. Bailey's was there also. I think you will enjoy the lounge. As far as crowds, as long as it's not Thanksgiving weekend when you are there, early December is usually very nice. Don't forget to book Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and the Candlelight lunch or dinner package.

We were just there the week of Thanksgiving and it was lovely - an adult television (I love watching the news), diet coke, bailey's, and very nice evening offerings, usually a soup, a hot dish, cheese and crackers, a few other munchies, and some nice little desserts. A few folk were making a modest evening meal of it, probably supplementing with snacks or a slice at the parks later. It's not planned yet, but I very much look forward to our next stay.

We stayed in the CL at YC last year and it was great! Breakfast stuff in the morning, midday snacks - with any soda or juice you want, and bed time snacks. In the evening they had wine, liquers, hot cocoa. We really enjoyed it and found it worth the money.

Yes they have Bailey's in the evening at YC and diet coke also. Just an fyi, I'm not a coffee drinker but really want my diet coke in the morning. They don't ususally put the soft drinks out in the morning but if you'll just open the door on the bottom of the cabinet you'll see this is where they keep the soda and you can just take one anytime during the day you want one and then don't have to ask the staff. They don't mind.

We've stayed YC concierge several times and are planning to stay there again the last week of November. The service from the CM's is always outstanding, and the lounge beverages and appetizers are excellent. An an FYI, my wife and I have a Bailey's each evening. Enjoy!

Thanks so much for all your replies. I am thinking of flying in on a Sunday & staying throughout the week (either a Sunday-Thurs. or Friday) depending on either 4 or 5 nights. I think that will kill some of the weekend crowds. DH & I went to WDW once for one day over Spring Break season when we were dating. It was packed & it was beyond being able to move. DH was 40 y.o. at the time & swore he would never go back. Now our will be 4 y.o. wants to go so we need to find a way to mix an adult vacation with a child-friendly vacation. We stay at a fair amount of nice resorts for business travel so I want to replicate a nice experience for DH with a great first experience for our son. Sounds like the YC Concierge level is the right choice for us!

Help! Currently booked at CR (2 nights Tower, 1 night Garden Wing because Tower not available). Just 2 adults. We will be one of those days at MK, maybe, and probably 1 in Epcot, 1 in AK...some jaunts to DTD maybe, since it is just my older sis and I this trip.

Sis is a neat-freak, and has never been to WDW. I have never stayed at CR or BC.

BC is available, all 3 nights in Standard View.

Is standard view worth it to us, ya think? Or is it terrible, negating the closeness to Epcot + the great pool? Is SAB too crowded, so less fun?

I honestly don't know about standard view (we usually stay in the villas), but I would prefer to stay all the days at BC rather than splitting days at CR....okay, I fess up....I'd rather stay all three dayst at BC ANYDAY!!!;)

If you have never stayed there, you really should. SAB CAN get crowded, but sometimes it is surprisingly slow. It is just such a wonderful place to hang out, and walking home after Illuminations just can't be beat!

I'd say, since you are going to have to change rooms at CR....now would be a really good time to try BC....to me, it is the most amazing hotel EVER!!!

I totally agree about the BC! We stayed last October and had a gorgeous standard view room with a full, big balcony overlooking the garden area. I don't know if there are any "bad" views at the BC.

The only thing I feel bad about was that we were rarely in the room and never used the balcony!

I went ahead and changed to the BC Standard View room. I requested a full balcony, and no other requests. Hope it's good!!

I think you will be very happy!!!

Have fun!!

We changed our reservations to the Beach Club-Concierge level due to brining our dd friend. With 5 people we needed to change to a deluxe or pay for a suite at CSR or stay at PO-R(didn't want to do that). We decided that if we were going to have to pay a little more, why not just stay in a deluxe Concierge level. What the hey, its just money, right?:cool1: :cool1:

We're going to be staying at the Yacht club at the end of May. I want to know if the Yacht Club Galley is worth dining at for dinner or if it's more of a lunch place. We'll definitely be hitting Yachtsman Steakhouse Cape May Cafe and the other places at Yacht and Beach.

we didn't eat at the galley, but did get room service, which is where it came from (at least I'm guessing, since the menus were almost the same). the food was sooo good. we got dinner there once, and breakfast once or twice, and it really surprised me how good it was.

We are currently booked at AKL April 5-10 (after having upgraded from POFQ) and are now thinking of switching to BC because of the proximity to EPCOT. I actually wanted to upgrade to BC originally, but it wasn't available at the time and AKL was. Can y'all give me some pros and cons, please?

TIA,
Lisa

Good for you for making the upgrade to a deluxe! I've only ever stayed at Beach Club and Coronado Springs, so hopefully someone will comment who has experienced both AKL and BC.

We stayed at the BC in Oct 2006 in room 1762. It took six minutes from our door to the international gateway extrance of EPCOT. If you plan on spending a lot of time at EPCOT, you will love the BC. Most of our ADRs were there. It was so nice to catch a nap before dinner and head back over to EPCOT. We could also see the EPCOT fireworks from our patio.
We had a car so we only used a disney bus once on the way back from the MK. We had spent the morning at EPCOT and hopped on the monorail to MK. It addition to the BC/YC restaurants, you have so many other choices just minutes away with EPCOT and the Boardway area - not to mention the Swann and Dolphin.

The only con I can think of is that we never even made it to MGM! We just kept going to EPCOT (it was during the food and wine festival so it was hard to resist).

I have never stayed at AKL, but my family stayed at BC last year, and we loved it. It was laid-back, and we loved the pools. You are right at the back door of Epcot, and as the previous post said, it does not take long to get there. One day we even walked through Epcot to catch the monorail, and the kids loved that. We also were able to ride the boat a couple times. Being right at the Boardwalk was a plus, too. I can't compare it to AKL, but I highly recommend BC, especially if you plan to go to Epcot a couple times (and Soarin' is definitely worth that). Good luck!

We actually did a split stay on our last trip between the AKL and BC. The AKL is a great resort ... themimg is beautiful, love the animals and the restaurants. That being said, this year we are staying the BC again, not AKL. The rooms are bright and large at the BC, the lobby is great, and my experiences with the CM's were the best I've had anywhere. We are big EPCOT fans and love being able to walk in anytime we choose.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort, I'm glad we stayed at AKL, but BC is our hands down favorite!

Thanks for the replies....I was just able to book BC for our Easter trip! Hopefully that will be the last change I decide to make. We've gone from POFQ to AKL and now to BC. I am really excited about SAB and also being so close to EPCOT, where we plan to spend a lot of time!

I have a couple of questions about the BC, right now I am going in June with a friend and our 3 kids.

I definately need a balcony because I am a smoker. What are the chances of getting one? Yes, I know they are not guaranteed, but just looking at the overall chance.

Also, is the only way to Epcot to walk? No other transportation? And to MGM, just the boat?

I have never stayed at the Beach Club before, but it looks just great for us. I am just a little worried about the above concerns. Thanks for your help.
