I bought an Ipod Mini from Best buy in 2005. I also bought the extended 3 year warranty. Within the first couple of months of having it I had to send it back to Apple for repairs. In the past 4 months, it has been sent back to Apple 3 more times! There is supposed to be a lemon law that if you send a product back 3 times they have to replace it with a new product.

So the last time we sent it back they told us we could "junk it out". They would send it back to Apple to make sure it's really broken and then we could get store credit. I get a call this morning saying my Ipod is back?!?!?!:headache:

Best Buy is saying that it has only been sent back 3 times!!!!!!! There has to be something we can do. Crap Crap Crap!!!!!!:furious: :furious: :furious:

I haven't even had the thing for about 3 months straight b/c it's been off to service!:furious: :furious:

Did they give you any repair slips the other times you took it in?

Yes, we even have one that says that it's been sent back 4 times, but they say that "doesn't count" since it's not in their system, they could have just "taken our word for it"

Take all of your paperwork in a complain until you get what you deserve. They burned me on a lemon computer. Would LOVE to see someone win the fight with them!!!!

I'm filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. This just isn't right.

maybe try taking it to an apple store if you have one in your area. I've heard many stories where people have taken their broken ipod right to the store and they give you new one. Take your paperwork from best buy with you and explain to them that you've had it repaired over 3 times and they are not following through with their warranty. It's worth a shot! If not, try writing or calling best buy's headquarters.

Do you have an apple store near you? If so, don't even deal with Best Buy, go straight to Apple. If they can't fix it on the spot, they will give you a new one. We had that experience with a lemon we bought a couple of years ago and I learned real quick to go directly to Apple.

Good luck! These Ipods are way too expensive, one shouldn't have to be sending it back 1 time, let alone 4!

I just checked online and there are no Apple Stores in SC. :(

Wow!

My husband got a brand new Nano for Christmas. The Nano was a gift from my brother - he lives in the States - we live in Canada. When we went to set it up and it didn't work. We called the Apple information line, they walked up through some things - still didn't work - there was a courier box delivered within 48 hours, we sent it back and a new Nano arrived 48 hours later - I was really impressed with the service!

OMG the same thing happened with my Mac powerbook. Maybe it's Mac, not best buy, that is to blame! I was just so mad! I haven't had trouble since my 4th repair, thank God, but before that, they had my notebook more than I did and they said they only had 3 on record!

That's what I would do and did when my iPod stopped working. I was given a new one on the spot, no problems. Since the one that DH bought me was personalized, I was given that option with the new one, but it would have taken longer for me to get it.

Good luck!

I just got off the phone with best buy again, and now they are saying that They do have the first time it was sent back documented, but it "doesn't count" because that repair wasn't a hardware repair. WTH??!??!?! It wasn't working, it was sent back and they repaired it! And the person on the phone was soooo rude. Such crap!

I just filed a complaint with the bbb. I doubt it will do any good.

Can you call Apple directly? Tell them what has happened. Maybe they can somehow work around Best Buy? That is ridiculous and I don't blame you for being furious!

Is this covered by a best buy extended warranty? If it is, unfortunately, only BB can help. They're usually very good at taking care of warranty repair/replacements.

Yes, this is what I was just thinking about. The Apple warranty is only for a year, the best buy warranty is for 3 years. So I HAVE to deal with them.

They are good here. I took DS's in for the first time and they let me get a new one, was a newer model too! No sending back anywhere. Must depend on the specific store!

Now you know why they no longer make the Minis--they are CRAP! My daughter's went back twice to Best Buy, the second time they told me since Apple no longer makes them, they couldn't give us a new one and were going to give me store credit for the amount she paid. They gave us the credit and she got a Creative Labs Zen Micro or something like that. No problems with this one. The only problem is, we had paid for the 3 year extended warranty with the Ipod, and it did not transfer to the new one, so we were hosed on that money. :sad2:

I'm not sure with items--but with cars--it has to be the same problem that you turn it in however many times (in Florida). So not sure if the same logic follows with a product purchased in a store.

Too bad they won't just give you a new one though. We've had good luck with circuit city on other products--usually they just replace it. They take our item back...fix it and then it will be an open box buy.

Yes they are crap and my husband has vowed to NEVER buy another apple IPOD ever again. The company would not stand behind their product when we had problems and that just doesnt fly.
