This Disney trip is going to be the bomb diggity! Dec 2010

So last week Lo came down to the house, we sat out by the pool (had to add sat out by the pool cause it just sounds good) but yes, we sat out by the pool and went over operation hours, EMH and the crowd level calender. We came up with something that we think will work well for us, remember now we decided against the park hoppers, so we had to make this work for us. Here we gooooooo.............

We plan to catch the first or maybe second flight of the morning out of Baltimore, our goal is to get to Fl. and be on ME no later then 10:00am, Get to Pop Century, get checked in and the be in our first park by noonish, give or take an ish.

Dec 3rd, Epcot, it's EMH nights on that day, we probably won't stay too super later though because.....

Dec 4th (saturday) Hollywood studios, EMH mornings, Lo said she didn't really do alot at this park on her trip, she was just beat by then and they left early, so I have to show her everything she missed.

Dec 5th (Sunday) Happy Birthday Lo, We are going to MK. We'll definitely make rope drop, head to our favorites, Lunch is at 11:45pm at CRT oh and it was supposed to be a surprise, but she was able to guess, she said my level of excitement gave it away, but she is super excited too. We would like to head back to the room early afternoon, maybe 1 or 2, take a nap ( I can do that by the pool) freshen up and head back to MK by 6:00pm for MVMCP.

Dec 6th (Monday) Epcot again, we'll do all the things we didn't do the first night, plus some things we did do. My favorite is Soarin, Lo's is Test Track, so we'll do those alot, she didn't really go to all the pavillions in WS on her last trip, so we'll do that. We might devide them up and do half our first Epcot day and the rest on our second Epcot day.

Dec 7th (Tuesday) Magic Kingdom again, just redoing the favorites and catching up on things we missed the first night. The park closes at 7 that night so we will probably skip out around 5 and head to DTD.

Dec 8th (Wednesday) Animal Kingdom, It's EMH night on that date, I missed out on Festival of the Lion King last time. So it's a must, I have yet to see it. Lo missed out on Finding Nemo, and she was in line for Dinosour when it broke down, so she really wants to do that. Her favorite though is it's tough to be a bug. It's up there on my list too. But Dinosour right now is my all time favorite.

Dec 9th (Thursday) Happy Birthday to me!!!!! I will spend it Hollywood Studios. I have ADR's at Chef Mickeys for 9:10am, I have always wanted to see the contemporary, Maybe this time it will happen. My favortie ride at HS is ToT but my favorite activity is the animation academy, so it's on my list of "let's do this several times" I missed out on Toy Story Mania last time, so that's a must do for me. And Lo missed out on RnR or maybe it was ToT, can't remember what she told me, but anyway those are always a must. I also would like to go to Planet Hollywood that night and get myself a Hellboy, OMG, it's a drink with 7 different kinds of liquor in it and the best part is you can't taste a single one of them.

Dec 10th (Friday) What the trips over already?:guilty: We plan to catch a late flight home so that maybe we can get in another park day. We didn't plan what we want, that will be our non plan day, whatever floats our boat that day is what we will do.

So that's our park plan, we will probably get together next Tuesday and go over QS menus and get an idea of what we might want for lunch and dinner.

Here are places I know I want

Caseys corner
Pecos Bill (it's tradition)
Columbia Harbor House (never been)
Pinnochio Village (maybe)(never been)
Toy Story Pizza planet
The commissary ( They have good fish n chips)
Flame Tree BBQ (again, tradition)
Yak and Yeti counter service (never been)
Sunshine seasons (never been)
Electric Umbrella (tradition)

So there's like 4 more places I need to come up with, I'm not gonna lie, I will probably eat at Toy Story Pizza planet twice, I love thqt place. Pizza is great, salad is fresh!!!

Now moving onto snacks! Really!

Pineapple Dole whip float
Candy apple

That's my list so far, I know some of my snack credits will go towards a Java Monster int he morning, especially EMH mornings.

Anybody know of any great snacks I need to try please let me know, I am limited in my Disney knowledge of snacks, I tend to stick to the same thing, but I want adventure this time. Adventure of the snacking kind.

Yup, going again, I was supposed to go this September with DH, but that had to be postponed, so Lo and I are going for our Birthdays, she's done Disney before but never stayed on property, I'll show her how magical an on resort stay can be. not that staying off site isn't magical too, just a little less maybe.

Thanks for reading, it's good to hear from you again.

Yes, I'm going back again too and for the same dates as last year as well! :woohoo:

I'm actually still there for free dining, but I don't think I'm going to do that. I'm going to wait for room discounts instead.

Your plans look awesome! CRT was very nice and I enjoyed it. There's also a few never beens on your list that is also on mine. :thumbsup2

I will also be going back again in October, but a portion of that trip will be with nice & sister, celebrating 40th and 16th birthdays respectively. :goodvibes

Oh! Snacks - I'm going to try the carrot creme cookie thing at Hollywood Studios. i think I read it was at Writer's Stop!

No Mickey ice cream bar??? :scared1: :rotfl: We used some of our credits for popcorn and soft pretzels. Also the cinnamon buns in the Main Street Bakery are a snack credit and you can save them for breakfast the next morning!

I know your last trip you had alot of touring plans and different events you were attending, is this trip the same way? I would love to be able to do all the different behind the scenes and tours some day. It's on my bucket list.

I'm guessing that a room discount would work better for you than free dining?
I'm still hoping that something will come out for my dates, wheter it be FD or a room discount. My Mom just a got a pincode for a room discount and it includes the blackout dates, but alas she is not going on this trip and her pin is useless. I'm really really hoping for a pin, anything to save a few pennies.

I am super excited for CRT. I mean I have only tried to get that ressie for my last 3 trips and couldn't, I looked at the menu, I hope it stays the same for my trip, Salmon was on the menu, my favorite, yummo.

Are you, your niece and sister going to MNSSHP when you go in October?

Sounds like tons of fun, Disney is the best place to celebrate birthdays.

THe carrot creme cookie thing sounds great, I love carrot cake, is it along the lines of that? I will be writing that in my planner as a must try. Thanks.

No, no Mickey ice cream bars, I am not a huge fan of ice cream, I will eat it every now and then, if that's all that dessert has to offer I will take it, but for the most part when given a choice and ice cream is one of them, I skip it every time.

The cinnamon buns however, yes that is my cup of tea and I like the idea of picking them up for breakfast the next day, thanks that was a great tip.

School bread in Norway is yummy and on the snack list and WGPE in DTD is the bomb for flatbread pizza, mine is the Margerita and Dan's is the BBQ chicken both are awesome. Don't forget the frozen slushies at France, anothe of those drinks where you don't tast the liquier. I had 2 last time and would have had more but we wanted to see at least some of the park soooo next time. We are going in May for my Bday again this time as dvcers can't wait and then again just me and the kids in October for MNSSHP I've never been.

For Oct, I'm hoping to attend D23's "Sip & Stroll". Tickets aren't on sale, so who knows? For Dec, we'll see if I can do Magic & Merriment again. Tickets were hell last year, so I can only imagine this year. The first part of Dec, I am attending 2010 Reunion.

Yea, I'm thinking room discount is better than free dining; if I stay at a Value, it's only CS dining and I have a few TS dinners. Besides, dining confuses me, so I think I'll let that one so I can be stress-free. ;)

CRT will be fab! :woohoo: I had salmon and it was really very good. Character interaction was excellent. I went for lunch and was done in about a hour. Remember when I got that ressie? I was all :dance3:

Yup, we are all going to MNSSHP on Oct 13th, we think. I'm going to go before solo as well.

Oh, do try to carrot cake thing, it's supposed to be great! A great blog to check out food is disneyfoodblog.com - all kinds of pictures and reviews. :goodvibes

love the plans so far, sorry you don't get FD- we don't either, since we are staying DVC on points.

we are there the same time- maybe we will be at parks the same day- let's see- we will be at MK on 12/5 in the am! we are doing epcot in the am on 12/6 too. (we have hoppers).

we love Earle of Sandwich at DTD- i think it counts as QS, rigth? give it a try!

snacks- i love:
kaki gori in japan (like shaved ice)
chocolate mousse from bakery in france
ham/cheese croissant from bakery in france
jalapeno cream cheese pretzel and coke slush at lunching pad in TL at MK
cinnamon roll from Main St. bakery
something sweet from goofy's candy co in DTD (love the marshmellows rolled in chocolate!)
and i plan to try the yummy cupcakes people rave about at Starring Rolls at HS!

Yeah!! Looks like we will be at AK on the same day!! I hope that we bump into each other!!

Trish

I have heard alot of great things about the school bread, I will definitely be trying that. The frozen slushies at France sounds yummo, I know Lo will be up for that as well.

I can't wait to go to MNSSHP next October, I told Lo we all have to wear costumes, maybe we can come up with a theme for all of us.

I wan tto make us something for this trip for MVMCP, I'm not sure what I want to do yet, probably a T-shirt but I have to think about the design for a while.

I am so stoked for CRT, I love Salmon, Lo doesn't eat Salmon, she only eats frozen fish sticks, yuck!!!!! she doesn't eat veggies either can you believe it? But I told her I would gladly eat the Salmon off her plate and switch her for something on mine, she is a very picky eater. I'm really excited for the character interation too, Lo has never been to a character meal, she will be doing alot of firsts on this trip.

Thanks for the link to the disney food review, Lo and I are going to be checking that out soon. It's funny how eating at Disney takes just as much planning as touring the parks.

Maybe we'll see you at MK in the am, we plan to be at rope drop.

Earl of Sanwhich just made it to our list a few days ago, we both thinks it sounds delicious. Every time we hang out we always make a run to subway, we love sandwhiches!!!!

I just added Kaki gori to my list too, you said it's a shaved ice thing? what flavors? is it exotic flavors or oyur typical strawberry, grape, lime thing?

I love Goofys Candy Co, I always go in there but have yet to uy anything, I will this time. I heard you can get chocolate covered pretzel sticks with a snack credit.

The cream cheese pretzel also made it onto my snack list, it's inked in, not penciled in, that means no chaning my mind, it is in the solid plan book now.

Yeah!! Looks like we will be at AK on the same day!! I hope that we bump into each other!!

That would be awesome to bump into eachother, I love meeting Disers, maybe as the time draws closer we could make a plan for a quick meet n greet, pose for a pic or what not.

:dancer:party:

Oh yeah! I'm doing the free dining dance.

I called today to see if a pin code was attached to my name. There wasn't, but the nice CM named Mort said if I were to come a day early they could extend the free dining through my entire stay. Of course I didn't get my hopes up because the lady I talked to last week said she tried to run it with me coming in on the 2nd of Dec and it didn't work, her exact words were "I am very sorry, but the computer won't allow me to do it because you are staying during black out dates."

So Mighty Mort works his magic, he is whistling while he works, and then he says to me "Ty, are you sitting down?"

"Yes Mort, I am."

Mort tells me, "Ty you just got free dining for your entire stay."

:banana::woohoo::yay:

I could not thank Mort enough.

So let's recap now,

I get to go to Disney for an extra day and I am eating for free. Yes of course I have to pay for an extra day, but really Lo and I will each pay an extra $49 dollars but we will be saving $175 each, it's a total win win situation, extra day, free food, what more can I say?

So we will leave our touring plan the same and I think we will go to AK on the first day we get in, it seems the most logical thing to do since we only had 1 day at AK scheduled. and then just continue on with what we have planned already.

This is just so amazing, I was fretting my finances a bit, now it's like I have an extra $175 for souvie shopping.

I always say its just who you talk to and if you don't get the answer you want try someone else. Thats how we got club level for our trip in May I just kept calling until I found the right person and she had us set up in about 2 mins. I've never done club level excited to see what its like. Do you have dates for your Oct trip 2011 right we are gonna be there and I'm dressing the kids as Jack and Sally from Nightmare before Christmas should be a blast.

WOO-HOO!! I'm dancing with you!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::dance3: I called to see if I had a PIN and one was found under an old address. The CM I spoke with today, India, was wonderful and had so much patience!!!

I had already made some ADR's but mom and I just sat down and tweaked a couple of them.

I am too excited to sleep and have perma-grin!!

Trish

TY!!!

All caught up and ready for more!!! Everything looks great! Must admit, I'm a little jealous that you get an extra day outta the deal :rolleyes1 Madi and I are going solo for a mother-daughter trip (a tradition in the making!!!) Oct 27 - Nov 1, free QSDP, @ POP!

Next year's trip with Lo's fam and Kent sounds great!

Snacks: if you are a carrot cake fan, you MUST try the carrot cake cookie at Writer's Nook in Hollywood Studios - AMAZING!!!

Any word from the recruiter?

That is fabulous news! :woohoo: Mort is the MAN!

Yup! Mort is the man!:cheer2: 3 cheers for Mort. I am still in free dining dancing mode.

I totally agree, it is who you talk to. Last week the lady I spoke with with was very sure it wouldn't work, she said she tried to make it work, obvioulsy Mort knows his stuff.

Club level does sound exciting, I'm excited for you!:woohoo:

We are thinking maybe the first week in October, alot of it depend on her DD's cheerleading schedule.

That is so great. I'm glad you got a pin. I'm with you on the perma grin, my friends at work didn't quite get my excitement about free dining, they haven't been to Disney so they just don't get the hype. But that's ok, I knew my Dis peeps would understand.

I know! the extra day is the cherry on top, I didn't feel like we were going to be rushed for time before, but now it's like we have all the time in the world, a whole extra day to play, I love it.

The carriot cake cookie is on my snack list, I didn't know where in HS they had it, but now I do thanks.

You and maddy are going to have so much fun on your trip, you are doing MNSSHP right? Maddy is so cute in all the costumes she has worn, I still like the Dumbo one the best.

Yes, we have heard from th recruiter, Jim meets with him the 27th of this month, but Jim has gone and thrown us for a loop, he is now considering the Marine Corps. He is meeting with the recruiter for that on the 20th of this month, I begged him to not sign papers just explore your options, I am praying he stays with the Coast Guard.

We leave tomorrow morning to head to Michigan, our first night we will spend at my parents house, they are having asurprise sweet 16 for Reese. then Friday morning, Bo, Reese and I are taking off for Tawas, my sister has a vacation home (trailer) up there. it's just going to be us 3 girls, we plan to canoe, and go hiking one day and then spend an entire dy on the beach, I probably won't go hiking, I need to keep my knee in tip top shape for disne, so I will stay at the trailer and read a book or take a nap.

I'm really excited for our day at the beach. I heard it's going to be hot up there this weekend so the water will feel nice.

My sister Bo, I am sure you have read in some of my past posts, (maybe not this PTR) but she is the Martha Stewart of the family, a 3 day weekend with her is going to be amazing, I asked that she not tell me what's on the menu, surprise me. I always eat good around her, and she will probably have some kind of surprise for us, she's such a girl.

I will tell all about it when I get back.

Have a great weekend guys.

It’s the morning of July 15th. The car is loaded up and we are ready to head to Michigan for a long weekend of celebrating Reese’s sweet 16.

Normally we are on the road by no later then 5:00 am , but Reese needed to get paid for her babysitting job, and we couldn’t get that until 6:00 am. We met Kents brother Brent at Rutters he paid Reese the $125 for the week (seriously she makes bank watching Brents 4 kids)

After gassing up and a quick drive through at Mac D’s we are on the open road by 7:00 am.

The drive is long and boring, nothing great happened, nothing amazing was scene, I just couldn’t wait to get to our destination, I can’t stand the ride to Michigan anymore, I’ve done it 3 times a year since my Reese was 3. This has gotten old.

Kent said we would get to my Mom’s house around 4pm, and sure enough 4:05 pm we pull into her driveway.

My sister Bo had gotten the afternoon off work to make sure she was there at Moms to yell surprise as Reese walked through the door.

It was just my Mom, Bo and Janis at the time, the rest would come later.

Bo had Moms house decorated in Reeses colors, (her theme is Rastafarian) SP?
Bo had made a poster with pics of Reese, and in her theme colors it said Reeses 16th which Reese loved and it is now hanging in her room The cake was cute,
tawas014.jpg

Bo didn’t have time to make one, she bought this one and then bought little candies, green peace symbols, and added them to the cake.

She had made chocolate suckers shaped like 16’s (she bought a mold for that) and was able to make them striped in the rastafari colors, that was really neat.

The clear vase of MM’s was nice, Bo told me that she had her patients put on gloves and they spent a few hours separating the red, green and yellow MM’s. I’m telling you Bo can find a way to for her patients to work on motor skills and they don’t even know it.
tawas016-1.jpg

Side story… Bo had a patient who needed help on being able to sit down in a chair and then stand up again. Well this patient fought her left and right (she works at an assisted living home) anyway, so she told her patient, “Let’s just go for a walk then.” so they are walking and Bo said “I’m tired, let’s sit.” so they do, then Bo says, “This spot is too drafty, let’s move over there.” so they get up and walk to a new chair. “This chair is uncomfortable, let’s move over there.” so they do. “This spot is in the sun, let’s move away from the window,” etc etc… So at then end of their walk the lady thought she had gotten out of therapy but really hadn’t.”

Anyway, back to Moms house. Everyone else showed up around 6 pm. Bo’s husband Jerry, their son Allen, their son Keith, Keiths son Ryder, Keiths fiance Sandy, Chris, (a friend) and my Dad, a small party but still enough people to make it fun.

We ordered 4 large pizzas, mmmm so good. And then we sang happy birthday and cut the cake. My camera died right before the candles were lit. so that was the end of pictures for that night.

Reese got out her guitar and sang to us for about an hour.

Around 10 everybody except Bo and her son Allen had left. We played spoons with my Mom, she had never played spoons before, she’s not very good at it, I tried telling her to keep an eye on the spoons, but she was too busy with her cards, we laughed so much that night. Let’s say I spoon fed them all a huge dose of LOSER!!!!!! I rule at spoons.

We went to bed around midnight. Bo and Allen stayed the night at Moms house.

We were up by 7:00am the next morning, showered and dressed and out the door by 8:30am, we dropped Allen off at home. (no boys allowed on this trip) after a bank stop, gas stop, and Mac D’s for a frappe, we were on the read and headed north by 9am, an hour ahead of schedule.

The car trip went fast, BO and I had talked about what we would do if we had unlimited amounts of money. We came up with this…..

We would build a resort at Disney World, it would be called Disney Enchanted. It would be all about the princesses but we would also include a building dedicated to the prince charmings as well.

We would have a theme in each building. Ariels building would of course be an under water theme, and the beds would be clam shells. The colors of course would be aquas, I mean we went into major detail but there is not enough time for me to tell you everything.

Just picture Jasmines building, the beds would look like flying carpets. Cool huh?

Belles building, the furniture would be whimsical and look like they could talk at any moment.

Cinderellas building, ( we had the most fun with this one) the beds would be glass slippers, and some would be the carriage.

Of course this would be a deluxe resort with a great character meal on the premises, but the best thing about our resort, even though it will be a deluxe, the prices would be that of a moderate.

We would sponsor a Make a wish family every week, and they would stay in the mini Cinderella castle.

It’s fun to dream…………

We got to Bo’s trailer in Tawas around 11:30am and unloaded the car, got the dogs situated and then ran to Wal Mart to pick up a few things for the weekend. (like a battery for my camera)

Came back to the trailer, packed a lunch, changed into our swimsuits and then headed to the beach, a short 1 minute drive, we could have walked but had too much stuff to carry.

We sat up our blankets and then dug into our lunch. It was so good, I don’t think I ever had a sandwich so good, (until the next day) Bo really knows how to make a great tasting sandwich. She also had string cheese and grapes and crackers with a crab dip. She also brought blackberry and sage tea. It was so good.

Reese and I went swimming for about an hour, then I went and sat in the shade with Bo while Reese laid out in the sun.
tawas001.jpg

After a while we walked to the snack bar and Bo got a Boston cooler and I got a waffle cone of Superman ice cream. I don’t like ice cream but I hadn’t had the superman ice cream in over 20 years, it was screaming my name.

We finished our treats, swam some more and then packed up to go back to the trailer.

Back at the trailer the plan was to go canoeing but my leg was super swollen, it hurt to walk, so I stayed with the dogs keeping my leg elevated and Bo and Reese went for the canoe ride. I fell asleep and woke up when Reese’s dog Otto started running around the place like crazy, that meant they were back.

We talked a bit, they told me how much fun it was and we made plans for all 3 of us to go again the next day.

Bo made dinner that night, taco salads, guacomolie dip and chips. It was so good.

She also dipped the rims of our cups in maple syrup then dipped them into colored sugar, once again going with Reese’s theme and then served Vernors in them, it was yummo too.
tawas004.jpg

Reese got out her guitar and played and sang for about 2 hours, a lot of people came by and complimented her. I am always so proud of her when she sings, I love when other people say she’s talented, then I don’t feel so biased.
tawas002.jpg

Around midnight we all went to the bath house to wash off that days dirt and brush our teeth before going to bed.

The trailer is so comfy and cozy, I couldn’t wait to go to sleep that night. It didn’t take any of us long to nod off.
