Third Time's a Charm PTR - May 2012 - I should give up on planning trips.

Actually, I kind of knew that this trip wasn't going to happen. Somewhere deep down, and I'm not going to count on any in the future. After that last trip was canceled I was so devastated that I guess some sort of defense mechanism in my mind didn't allow me to get so worked up about it.

I hadn't even ordered a shuttle service to take Arline to the airport (since she wouldn't have fit in our car with the scooters and luggage).

However, Alicia, you will be pleased to know that now that I have 300 points in holding (that I will probably lose) I was just looking to see what I could get if I tried to use them. Today I could book the AKL a 1 BR at Kidani, Savannah view for four nights starting June 13 and then switch to SSR for the last three in a two bedroom. We would still have our two bathrooms and be quite comfortable. Don't give up hope for your trips!

Poor Fran:worried: That's awful. And now this leaves me worried for your next trip coming up.

Do you have to pay any penalties for the room, flights, etc??

You and me both! Although if there is even a hint of a problem I am canceling it so that the points don't go into holding a month in advance.

We do have to pay airline penalties. $150 for the first ticket miles to be put back in our account, and $25 for each subsequent ticket. Our 300 points are in holding which means that we can only use them 60 days out. At least we can use them at DLR, planning any trips? Maybe I can help out, save you some money and recoup some of our loss.

I am taking Connor to Disneyland for his first birthday in June. It is less than 60 days out though or I could have tried to rent them from you. Hopefully, you get to use them yourself. I hope everything works out and your points do not get wasted. I am still hoping you get to go to the Carsland opening. I will be there six days after, so I am excited to read about it. I will keep praying for Fran.

Here are our pics from dinner. We went to Willy and Jose’s in Sam’s Town Casino. Chips, salsa and bean dip

As we drove into town, Fran noticed that Debbie Reynolds is playing at the South Point tomorrow and the next night. She was so excited and I have not seen her this excited about anything in a long time. Either of our dinner reservations could easily be rescheuled until Saturday, so tomorrow morning at 10AM we can call the Box office and find out if any tickets are still available, then we will figure out how to switch our dining based on if we can get tickets. I’m good and ready to go to bed! Good night all and lasters!

Catching up on your other adventures, since I was late to the report. I love Willy and Jose's. My Dad used to take me there almost every year for my birthday when I was growing up, and my MIL lives 5 minutes from Sam's Town. Sorry I missed you guys this trip. Maybe, I can catch you on one in the future.

So what part of Vegas do you live in? We're pretty familiar with the town since we've stayed all over the place. We get back there pretty often.

Thanks for sharing the view of the Strip. It's been about 10 years since I was last in Vegas. Lots the same, lots with changes.

I think it might be time for a trip back there...but DH isn't all that keen. :confused3

If you come, let me know. I can meet you somewhere.

So what part of Vegas do you live in? We're pretty familiar with the town since we've stayed all over the place. We get back there pretty often.

I live in Centennial Hills, which is Northwest. There is nothing North or West of me other than Mount Charlestion, which I love.

I like the Blueberry Hill Family Restaurant. My favorite place to eat breakfast off strip is Babystacks. They have two restaurants off Buffalo. The shakes at Steak and Shake are pretty good, and Xander loves the hats they give to kids. I also love the look of the City Center hotels, especially on the inside. Red Rock is very beautiful (except for once when my sister fell down it). It was scary, but she was okay despite a 30 foot slip. That part was not too steep.

The VGC is very beautiful. DH really wants to stay there, but I want to wait until years from now when we finally invest in DVC. How awesome to spend New Year’s Eve at Disneyland! It is even more cool that you had time at Club 33. I love Arline’s ears. The food looked great. I love that you opted for the chocolate fountain. Sorry you had a rough time getting out of the park. People need to be more considerate of others. The breakfast casserole looks good.

Glad I got to read about a couple of your past trips. I cannot wait to read about your rescheduling for this trip. I am sure you will have a great time once you get there. Now, that I've posted three times in a row on here, I will check back with you later. Hopefully, Fran feels better really soon.

Alison ....

I wish Fran a speedy recovery and I wish you peace and many more trips; especially the one in October 2013.

Yep, I remember you saying you didn't get the shuttle service for her yet. Guess I should have picked up on that, considering you make ALL arrangements as far in advance as possible.

I AM giving up! I finally called MS and the contract closed 4/16 so she gave me the activation code so I could start messing around with dates and what not. Well, our dates are available if we do the December trip (every room possible at AKV is open), however, if he gets the job and we have to go in January, we would have to be waitlisted for a 1 bedroom during the weekend (I forgot it's Marathon weekend :headache:) so i'm pretty sure, other resorts will not be available for us. But if you say that I should not give up, I won't. After all, you are the professional here.

Ugh no! We weren't planning on going to DLR until either August (which I believe is pretty much out now) and for sure November. Can't you plan a mini trip to DLR anytime before 60 days?

You didn't go? I didn't read every post but I'm sorry.

And it's your birthday? Happy Birthday!

I'm so sorry this all happened, especially on your birthday.

And please forgive me if I'm being insensitive, but does Fran feel at all bad about this? How's Arline taking it?

With the way things are going, that very well may be our next trip.

Alison, I had to stop by and give you a big .

Thanks. back at you.

:cake:

Happy Birthday!!!!! Hope it is a good one.

Thanks, but probably my worst one to date. :sad2:

Yeah, I wouldn't hold out much hope for that marathon weekend. I hear people talking about it all the time and it's one of the busiest times at WDW.

Well we did call today and got a PP Park View room for June 14-16 (2 nights). I've been waitlisting for a room at the VGC for a few months now and nothing has come through. June 15 is the opening day for Carsland and Fran wants to be there for the opening ceremonies, so this used up a third of our points in holding. We'll see about something else once the 60 day window opens up for July.

You didn't go? I didn't read every post but I'm sorry.

Thanks, I'm getting used to canceling these trips. :headache:

I was wondering the same thing Pam.

Well Arline keeps everything all bottled up inside of her, so we don't know if she is thinking something or not. Fran has already moved on, but I think she does feel guilty.

Happy Birthday Alison!

Thank you!

My heart is so sad for you.

Please don't give up on planning trips, that would be a terrible thing.

I'm glad you were able to book a few nights. That should be really fun to see the opening of Carsland.

Well, I'm not holding my breath that we will get there in October. She has to go back in for another surgery soon. The reason that the wound vac failed over the weekend is because one of her wounds "traveled" under the skin and bridged two of them.

She has to have the one debrided now. This wound vac will be on for a long long long time.

Oh my goodness. Did it tunnel? and they're keeping the wound vac on? Are they not concerned that more of the same thing could happen. Debriding is no picnic, make sure Fran has her pain meds. Sorry for all the questions. You have been through the gauntlet.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully, she feels better and makes it up to you.

Glad to hear this. Wish it was VGC like you wanted but happy you're going. I cannot wait to read about it. We are excited to spend Connor's first birthday in Carsland on 06-21-12.

I had a friend who had that done. She said it was more painful than childbirth. I will keep praying for Fran. Hopefully, her wounds heal nicely and you still travel in October to cheat with Harry.

Tunnel! That's the word not travel! They had to expand the area that the vac is covering. She got lots of morphine. The surgery she had in early April was a debridement.

Thanks, I told her today that a positive attitude wouldn't hurt.
