Third Time's a Charm PTR - May 2012 - I should give up on planning trips.

I have been waiting years to be able to afford DVC and still have more years to wait. This discourages me though. If I am reading that correctly, you have to wait 60 days to book but have to travel before 09-01-12. That certainly isn't a big travel window. I still hope it works out for you but am a little less excited about DVC now.

No, that's not how DVC normally works. Because I canceled between 1-30 days prior to my arrival date, the points went into holding. That's why I can only book trips in the next 60 days. Otherwise you can book at 11 months at your home resort or 7 months at any other.

If I was truly smart I would have canceled the stay on March 31, but everyone told me she would be fine. That's why I'm saying that I will reasses our situation on September 11 and call to cancel the October trip if she is not well enough to travel.

The reason I have to travel by 9/1/12 is that my new use year starts in September and holding points expire at the end of your use year.

:hug::hug: you have every right to feel this way, and definitely give yourself time, but please be kind to yourself. I'm worried you'll spiral downward. Get out of the house and do something special, you deserve it.

Well on the VGC owners thread someone posted a link to a TravelZoo deal. Basically it was 50% off spa services. $99 for your choice if $200 worth of services. I got one for me and one for Arline. We'll go and do a few rides, have lunch and then maybe hit the pool and then do some spa treatments.

What does compression do for it?

Maybe if Pam is still around she could answer that. They said that once it heals that will be the way to keep it from coming back. That and the weight. She was supposed to wear compression hose after the October ordeal, but refused to do so.

I recently saw some new pics in the AoA thread. The pool looks super cool and I read the food court is set to be pretty good. Thanks for the bed info. :thumbsup2 DVC has spoiled and ruined me  It's only for a night and we love Nemo. I think I remember seeing your pics. All of your dinners are amazing and I'm usually in awe but recall some. ;) Your pirate dinner is the one that stands out and also the one with the spaghetti dessert.

:( Poor thing. She must be so uncomfortable. Are they saying why she's not healing?

Thanks, I love getting to eat all this wonderful food. Tonight we were going to go to a fondue restaurant since i got gypped on my birthday. But what is causing her to not heal is that she keeps running around and not elevating her leg. They don't mean it needs to be up "when you're not running errands". DON'T RUN THE ERRANDS!!! She probably shouldn't have gone to band last night.

What also didn't help was that nurse that fixed her leg over the weekend. She redressed it so that it would become infected, so she took a few steps back. Hopefully she will stay down tonight and tomorrow and have a big improvement on Friday.

I'm glad you're able to take advantage of this great deal. Enjoy it you so deserve it.:thumbsup2

I'll let Alison give all the details so I don't hijack things, but this is not how DVC normally works, this is only because she had to cancel her trip. DVC is wonderful, stay excited.

I hijack threads all the time. Maybe, I should stop doing that. I never thought anything of it until I read your comment. So sweet of you to respond though. Thanks.

Thanks for explaining that Fran. It sounds a little confusing, but I guess I am still excited to be a future DVC owner. I still hope you are able to use all of your points. That would stink if some got wasted, because I know how much you pay for them.

Why did she refuse to have it back then?

That sounds really nice. I'm glad you found a great deal. I hope you go do that soon :)

I was thinking they would start packing the wounds. She can't have the compression on all the time, the tissue needs to rest and get oxygen which they need to heal. It's better for her circulation so the fluid doesn't pool in the leg. But she definitely needs to elevate that leg! :)

I wasn't saying anything about you, but when I start talking about DVC I tend to talk a lot! It is a wonderful thing that I'm in love with. Stay excited!

I don't mind a few OT posts, just don't go for pages! :lmao: besides, now what do I talk about here? We are going to reschedule, but I'm reluctant to do so without an idea of how long the healing process may take.

Why did she refuse to have it back then?

Well her first reason was that they were expensive and she wanted to wait until Medicare kicked in. Once she got Medicare, she wanted to wait until she lost some weight because of how expensive they are. By then she started to have this problem. When she is better, I'm going to tattle on the doctor if she doesn't get the stockings. I think that she Thi ks they are femmy or old lady like.

One of the reasons they took her off the vac is that it should have given her an alarm, but for some reason it didn't. The fluids were pooled in her led and they had to let her sit for a while so it could dry out. I really couldn't look yesterday because if all the things that they were saying about her leg. The biggest thing was that they were trying to "get in" some pocket. That set my head reeling. Then they were really pleased because blood started to flow. I looked up a couple times and they had a q-tip sticking straight up out of her leg. The wound nurse said when I expressed my  feeling, "I don't want to lose the pocket!"

Thank god my phone has spider solitaire!

Oh my goodness! The last thing you needed was for the wound vac to be defective. Ugh! And here I was hoping for some new photos. Sometimes things can get gnarly!

I know those stockings are on the expensive side, but maybe say something like if she can buy so many clothes you need numerous closets she can buy things to better her health. They are hard to get on too, just a warning.

Yeah, they really are. When I was a CNA, we had some residents who didn't really need any assistance other than putting their hose on because they just couldn't get them on.

I just realized I called you Fran in the last post. Sorry Alison. I've been praying for Fran a lot, so I just have Fran on the brain. Hope she is feeling good today. You should schedule it. Hopefully, it works out. I know you said the VGC sells out far in advance, but you can spot check for open dates there at the very least to get your points used by 09-01-12. If I can find an open date in June (not sure if I have yet, since I am still working with Dave and am still confused), I bet you can find one before Septmember.

I realize you were talking about yourself, but it made me realize that I do it a little more than I should. Alison was kind about it, but I am going to limit it as much as possible in the future (after this of course). I did not want you to think I took offense to your comment, so I had to follow up one last time. I get your excitement about DVC as I have been counting down to when I can join. I am still confused but can learn more if I arrange a rental I am working on with Dave and even more when I become an owner. Thanks again.

I'll upload some of the pictures and send you a PM. No one else seems to want to see them. I have pictures from Monday and those are pretty gnarly.

Well considering I've been putting on Fran's shoes and socks for longer than I can remember, I'll be doing that too. The home health nurse for the Fall showed us how he put on his.
