Thinking of staying at Cypress Pointe Resort. Has anyone stayed here?

We are going to Disney Feb 5-12, 2005. Considering staying off grounds since my parents are coming. I have a 7 and 2 year old. I was just wondering how far the drive was from Cypress Pointe Resort to the parks. It is supposed to be a mile from Disney's Maingate. I am also considering staying at the Swan or WL. What is my best bet? The 3 bedroom condo or 2 rooms on the grounds?

Thanks, and forgive me I am new to the board.

Welcome to the DIS boards. I am going to move this thread to the Orlando Hotels thread.

We stayed there in May and are returning for Labor Day weekend. If you can do a search, you will find plenty of info on this board about Cypress Pointe. I highly recommend it!

We stayed for 1 week in April and really enjoyed it. It's great to have the full kitchen (not that we cooked alot) and extra space to spread out.

Based upon good reviews here on the DIS and a good price, we will be staying there for a week starting this Thursday. If you can wait, I will post a review upon our return. :wave2:

We were there last week. We booked a 2BR through Hotelkingdom for $65 a night. With the price in mind the place was great. You could not stay in a nicer hotel room for that price. We like having the space and privacy in a condo. That being said it is an older complex. It was very clean and the grounds are kept up, but it does not look luxurious at all. The decor is 80's Floribbean. Our jacuzzi did not work, which was not a big deal, I do not really use other bathtubs myself. The kids' room was very basic, no tv. It had two twins and a trundle. The weird thing is that room had it's own door leading out to the outside corridor. If there are adults in here it is not a big deal, but we slid the dresser in front of it to make sure the kids would not open it. It did not have a door knob from the exterior, but it did not look like the most secure door. That bugged me a lot. The kids loved the pool area and it looks like it is kept up pretty well. Plenty of chlorine, it bleached out our bathing suits. They have 3 little tunnel slides that the kids liked and a volcano that sprays water out of the top. My friend stayed for one night of our stay and reserved a suite. That was basically connected to our 2 bedroom with it's own entrance. There is a connecting door to that bedroom from inside the 2 BR. She had a queen bed, garden tub and small balcony as well. There was a large screen tv in the lr and another patio. I walked through the newer section, the GrandVillas, and it looked a little more up to date from the outside. They have elevators in that section and the hallways were much more pleasant. Ours had flickering lights, but were very well lit. They had a nice looking pool over there and a playground and mini golf, which I think they charge you for. I would say if you get a great price like we did, it is well worth it and you will be happy. If the price is not fantastic, you can probably find a much newer looking villa.

They said it was 6 miles from Magic Kingdom, and it is only a mile to Downtown Disney. Restaurants are very close by as well.

We stayed in the Grand Villas section for a week in June and really enjoyed it. The kitchen and even washer and dryer came in pretty handy for us. We stayed with my parents and it was nice because we could all be together or if someone wanted some alone time they had other rooms that they could go in. As it has been said before, the price is one of the best things about it. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for all the info. You guys are really helpful. I've always stayed on the grounds, so I'll probably try Cypress Pointe if I get a good rate.
