Thinking of adding 3 days to our upcoming trip

We have a seven day trip planned at OKW with PAP's coming up in 3 weeks. I've been thinking about adding 3 days to the trip, staying at SSR (only resort with availability). DS's have another week off of school when we get back from our currently scheduled trip, DH has the available vacation time, and using points and having PAP's, not much cost will be added to the trip. We are 4 points short, but I believe I can buy those extra points from member services.

I am a little concerned about the logistics of doing this. We booked our FP+ at 60 days out for our 7 days, and am worried about the possibility of losing those if altering our reservation. I saw a thread on the theme parks board where someone added the dining plan to their reservation, and their FP+ were lost. Would I need to worry about something like that happening? Also, would we get a second set of magic bands if switching resorts. If so, would disney even send these to us when we are so close to our trip? Any problems that can come up when doing this? Regarding the 4 points, you can rent them directly, from member services, for $15 per point. Members are able to rent up to 24 points annually in one transaction.

We added 3 additional days to our upcoming trip and it did not affect any other reservations through My Disney Experience. Moreover, like you, our additional days are at another resort. I would go forward and add the days without concern.

You will get a second set of Magic Bands for SSR. Depending on timing, they may be shipped or available for pickup upon check-in.

You shouldn't have any band problems. The one set you already have will work for both these resorts, as well as all future reservations you have, until the band's battery dies (2-3 yrs). And I'm not sure if they will mail you new bands or just have a set when you check in to the added room.

Adding a couple days at a new resort is like adding a whole new vacation as far as Disney IT goes. It won't effect your current FP+, as long as you don't drop days from your original reservation that have FP+ booked.

Since it is SSR that you are adding, it will be a separate reservation from the one for OKW and you can add it to MDE and nothing should happen to the first reservation. They may send new MB's (we once added someone at three weeks out and they sent MB for him) but you will be able to use same MB's you already have (and any new ones sent) for both reservations as long as both are in your MDE account (the MB's are essentially just communicators connected to your MDE account and whatever you have in your MDE account is accessible with any MB's you may have, including ones from a prior trip, unless you go into your MDE account and purposefully deactivate a particular MB).

So you are going to be able to stay longer at WDW and likely have nothing to worry about -- now I am getting jealous.

Just wanted to give this thread an update. We decided to add the three days! We changed our flight first, even though we didn't have a room available yet. SSR and OKW both had only 2 of the three nights available. I have been stalking the availability checker on the DVC site, and I noticed that AKL Jambo house had a value studio available for all three nights. Unfortunately I wasn't fast enough to get it, but I decided to change our waitlist to the Jambo value studio. Well, the waitlist came through this morning! We are so excited!! I had already borrowed our points and purchased those four extra points from member services, but now we have a few leftover points in our account. Just added the reservation to MDE, and everything is still in there, fastpasses were unchanged! Thank you to all who replied!
