Thinking about Parasailing

As you see by my counter, we are going to the World for my big 4 - 0 in July (and the same day is my dh's 38th). I am seriously considering going to parasail on our birthday, but have questions!

I am wanting to go to MK in the am, then look at going for the parasailing in the heat of the day, before heading back to MK for Spectro and Wishes. So, my questions are-

Is the parasailing offered at various times?
If you have parasailed, would you be able to just go in the clothes you wore that day, or would you recommend a swimsuit?
I know there is a weight factor - what is the most you can do for a tandem (I'm thinking about seeing if dh and I both can go at once?).
After your parasailing, do you feel the need to go "refresh" at your resort?
What happens if the weather is not perfect (I'm thinking about the late day showers in July)?

Any input or suggestions about parasailing would be greatly welcome!!

We tried parasailing for the first time this past Jan., it was a lot of fun:D To answer your questions:

Parasailing is offered throughout the day - you choose the time.
You can wear your park clothes, you won't get wet unless you want to;) They let you out/reel you in from the back of the boat, we wore jeans, sweatshirts, and jackets because it was chilly.
I forget the exact weight limit for 2 - 350 lbs?? We had to go separately. As far as freshning up, we didn't feel the need to - you won't sweat (unless you're really nervous!) but your hair will get blown around. It's actually very calming. They will cancel if the weather's not just right, for example if it's windy. We rescheduled ours 3 times because it was below 50 (the temp. that they close the marinas). Each time they left a message at our room.

HTH:D

It was awesome! You can just wear your clothes, but I wouldn't wear a skirt!!

The guy driving our boat said that they aren't allowed to dunk you anymore, so I think its safe to say you won't get wet unless they screw up. My husband and I went tandem and alone and I would say it was better alone. Total we weigh about 350 and the straps were very bothersome to him while I was sitting with him, but fine when he was alone. He did ask the driver while I was up to "reel" me back in like he was going to dunk me. They slowed way down and I started to drop closer and closer to the water, I was within a couple of feet before he sped up again and finished the ride. Maybe a good trick for your DH?

We went parasailing in March 2004. It was a windy and chilly morning. We went tandem, DH and DD(13) and me and DD(16).
I think it would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't so windy.

There was an adult couple on the boat with us that went after us and when they were reeling them in they seemed to be coming fast. The driver gunned the boat to make them go higher but just as they were coming in the wind must have took them to the side and they went in the water. The woman had a bump on her head. She hit a metal clip on the rigging. They were soaked of course and freezing. The water temp was in the 60's and so was the air. They were dressed for the airport, shoes and all, packed and ready to go home. They were very good sports about it though.

I would think twice about taking an expensive camera up. My DH took our camcorder. They did warn him that they could not be responsible for it. I would also have a strap on glasses or expensive sunglasses.

I would not let this experience stop me from parasailing again, however I would not go again if I did not think the weather conditions were perfect. We did ask about the wind before we went up and the said they were "checking it out". Whatever that meant. Next time we will decide for ourselves.

We had reservations last June to go parasailing and they had to cancel because of the wind. We had to reschedule, which was interesting since we were on the Silver plan and we were checking out the next day to go pick up DD from camp at Busch Gardens. They let us reschedule for the next week (we were doing the 5 for 7 at the BWI) and add DD. We had to pay for her but they all ready charged the wishes to the plan so it was all taken care of when we checked in.

It was the best experience. You could see for miles. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

We just did it last week, and it was great! In July, I wouldn't wait too late in the afternoon due to the possibility of thundershowers. At least don't make the reservation for your last day, in case it needs to be rescheduled. We didn't get wet, but did feel a bit windblown.
