We are currently booked at Pop in Nov from the 23 to 29.

This is a multi family trip consisting of 4 families. Our family is the largest at 5 with one child staying in grandparents room on their reservation so we are not limited to hotels/rooms for 5.

We are considering changing to a moderate either POR or POFQ. Problem/concern we are the only Disney veterns. We've stayed at CS and POP in the past.

I like the one bus stop and smallness of POP especially for grandparents trying to navigate buses and grandpas daily hot breakfast requirement. BUT i think bil would be happier with queen beds. Kids would enjoy water slide providing Nov temps are nice (coming from MI so kids will swim in about any temp without frost).

I am wondering if POR or POFQ would workable if we requested bus stop/food court not so much pool?

Standard rooms....I have no experience with these resorts and it intimidates me!!!! Help!!!!

POR is a beautiful resort my family and I have been several times and are going again in august. However, it is a spread out resort if you are worried about walking distances you can book preferred rooms which put you near both a bus stop and food court. With a standard room you probably won't be near both. FQ on the other hand is a small resort and all buildings are close to both main building and bus stops. It is also a very pretty resort. I would not hesitate to stay at either resort, in my opinion they are the nicest mod resorts. If you do decide on POR there is a great website on the resort portorleans.org you might want to look at.

I am a DVC member and prefer POP. I've stayed there 3 times and it's my favorite. For non Disney Veterans, it's truly amazing to stay there. The different decades, larger then life deco and bright colors, it's a true Disney experience.

I'm not at all saying the others aren't good, POR and POFQ are both beautiful and fun, but POP is just the "WOW" for first timers.

Just my opinion :goodvibes

I think POFQ would be a wise choice for your situation. It's fairly small, the food court is decent and there's only one bus stop. Last time we were at Pop, my husband told me he'd rather not stay there anymore - the beds are just too small and frankly, pretty uncomfortable. I think that while Pop is definitely over-the-top Disney, POFQ has a quiet charm to it that older folks in your party would enjoy.

We are partial to CSR, ourselves, but understand that it may be a bit harder for grandparents to navigate.

We loved CSR! But I think the multiple bus stops and distance to and from food court would make it harder on them! We (dh and 3 kids stayed pop last August, but dd was under 3), we loved it and I loved quick walk to food court. We were in 50's in standard room facing the lake, really close to bridge actually...would POFQ be similar?

I think I really need to study a map. We have 6 kids in group boys 12, 10, 10 and girls 9, 8, and 3.

I want to come.

Pop really does wow you! The Large Icons just grab you attention, so many great photo opportunities. Large Food court, different pools to choose to bounce from. Bright colors, laughter & joy is in the air there. I don't know what it is about that place that screams fun to us. We recently did Animal Kingdom Lodge standard room & than 1 bedroom villa there as well. Not sure if it was the fact that we just work so hard for our money & seeing so much of it going to a resort like that? or if it was the dark far to quiet for our families taste? I could go on & on but I agree with a previous commenter, 1st time? POP!:hippie:

Im with ya OP! Only we are booked at POFQ and im so afraid we will miss POP! We've stayed there twice and loved it! Beds didnt bug us, loved the theme, busses, food court gift shop etc.... because the price difference was so small, we booked pofq. But im afraid my daughter will miss the "disneyness" of pop! We don't plan to swim, november im guessing will be much too cold for our southern blood! We wont have time to do a boat ride downtown. The more and more I think about it, the more I think we might switch back to pop! This will be our first year driving, so maybe on our last day we could go by POfq to know better for next time. There is always a next time..... lol

POFQ is infinitely smaller and more intimate than POP. It is quieter and more laid-back. It also has the boat service to Downtown Disney. And queen beds and more room space. Its a no brainer for me, but I don't know you and yours.

These are the exact reasons I am considering it, and if it was just us I would do it without thinking. My biggest concern is us (me) not staying there before and it being too difficult for others in the group and having them depend on us more then I already feel they will.

The other thing I am considering is that if we switch to POR we could put our youngest back on our reservation and not the inlaws. Honestly that makes me uncomfortable and concerned about dining credits (I know, I know, but sometimes my fil is like an overgrown toddler and he will require three meals a day). I am worried that since her credits will be on their room it could get messy! So is POR too difficult???

I know that you are attached to Pop, but I'm another that would recommend POFQ. The size of the room and the queen beds alone are enough for me to never stay value again. The resort, as others have mentioned, is very compact and easy for anyone to navigate. The food court is very good, and central. There is only a single bus stop, unlike POR. And, for those buses that (sometimes) are shared by both resorts, POFQ is the first stop for both pick up and drop off.

If you opt for POR, you will have to be in the AB section if you want 5 in a room. You can request that the other part of your group be located near you, but there's no guarantee. You would also be dealing with a much larger resort, with longer walks to everything- food, bus, pool, and multiple bus stops. But this is a personal choice. You could also pay extra for a preferred room, which would put you closer to the food court.
