thinking about buying in, but have quick ???'s...

Doc, thank you.

That POS is just what we need and now that I know what it is, I'll call and ask for it today. I knew there had to be some tiny print somewhere! Thanks also for your personal experience with the 7-month window. We're pretty flexible folks, so I suspect we'd be happy buying in.

Again, thanks for everyone's input. Where would I be without the DIS???

Just to hop on the coattails of what Doc said, if you are going to buy direct from DVC, the process normally gets started when you give a deposit (no more than $500 required, typically credit card) to your Guide over the phone.

At that point, DVC will prepare all of your agreements and send you a stack of documents about 2 1/2 inches thick. The POS is included in this stack of docs.

At this point, there is no obligation to buy. You can call your Guide, indicate that you've changed your mind, and the $500 will be promptly refunded. In fact, even after you've signed your name about a dozen times and agreed to buy into DVC, they still give you a 14-day period during which you may change your mind and cancel the agreement. This "cooling-off period" is dictated by law, although I believe the law only entitles you to 72 hours while DVC voluntarily extends that period for a full two weeks.

Just wanted to prepare you for what's next just in case your Guide wants the deposit in order to send you a copy of the POS. You really have nothing to lose in moving to this next phase--particularly if you are strongly leaning toward buying. And, it would insure that your hubby gets ALL of the relevant docs in his hands for review, rather than getting it piecemeal.

Good luck!

Thanks for all of your helpful info. Biggest question is our minds is SSR or resale right now. Sounds like there are good benefits to both. Decisions, decisions!!!

I have one more question, but I think I'll start a new thread.
