Things we need to do at DIS Con 2003

So if there is a DIS Con 2003, what shall we do?

I think we need to:

1.) Have SandraB sing all night at karaoke.
2.) ban DocRafiki from singing at karaoke.
3.) Have an IOA/Grinchmas meet.
4.) (very important) no one can hide from my camera!

So what else would you add?

Barry, I love that IOA /Grinchmas meet. I can't believe I was right there in Orlando and missed going!
Also, I didn't have to hide while eating this year-you just weren't around to catch me.

a few repeat breakout sessions (sorry, I have lived in the corporate world too long). What I mean is -

Maybe have a RnR meet on Tuesday morning, and then a repeat on Thurday afternoon, etc. There were probably some people or groups of people who wanted to do things, but because of the overlapping, they gave one thing up for another. I personally missed the all day AK Safari RIde, because I was in my house, so I vow next time to stay for the entire time. Also, for the newbies meets, maybe the ones hosting could do a little talk as to what the DIS is, what Discon is, and what to expect at the various activities. A couple of people mentioned that they thought there would be more info given out at the newbie meets.

And on a more personal note - I really did enjoy meeting everyone, and getting to know some of you a tad better. I also vow to stay closer to the action next time, it is very hard to do the late night activities when there is no way to get back to your resort, with out imposing on other people. I know a lot of people don't mind driving, bit it may or may not be on the same schedule. There were so many activities going on all at once, it was hard to keep up, even with the ones I had planned. I hope there will be a Discon III!

We need to have a RAIN DATE for DATW!!!

..and spread out some of the meets a bit more so as not to overlap and/or exhaust (ending one night 2am and beginning the next, FULL day at 8am dang near killed me, LOL!! )

I also agree we need a rain date for DATW! DIS CON II was my first DATW and it did not last long enough!!!

I would encourage Pete to limit the Offical events to just two:

An opening reception and the ever popular Illuminations Dessert party. I would further suggest no competing mini-meets be scheduled during the offical events.

I think a Universal Studios meet is a wonderful idea, Barry!

The Hoop-Dee-Doo was done for II, how about the Luau for III or some other Orlando dinner show?

As a personal must do for me, I intend to be at the DATW event this year.

What were the Official events this year?

is Drinks Around The World, starting at the Rose and Crown and hitting all the cocktail spots in World Showcase. (Unofficial)

Official events were Illuminations Dessert Party and Mystery Dinner Theatre. Other official events were cancelled as there were not enough people signed up, and there was a problem with minimums needed at the hotel for the planned breakfast, dinner, etc.

Even if there isn't an official DIS Con in 2003, I think we should roll ahead and plan an unofficial one.

Have you all seen the note on rec.arts.disney.parks (RADP) about MouseFest? Deb Wills said they're trying to organize one HUGE meet and greet that would be open to all. I think it sounds neat! To quote her:

"As we plan for our 8th Annual RADP (rec.arts.disney.parks) meet, we have thought that as there are so many different communities out there, and so many folks overlap into more than one community -- it would be wonderful to have as many as possible gather in one location for a meet. I decided it was time to see if that could happen and so I have been speaking with several other communities about possibly con-inciding with radp-8 and having EVERYONE come to the Big Meet and Greet.

This will be a great opportunity to meet some of the folks who have known thru email and also to meet new folks.

Anyway, so no one feels "left out", the thought is to have each group keep their own name (RADP-8) but all come under the umbrella of MouseFest 2003!!!

I'm not sure how the logistics of all this will work out; but we won't know until we get started, right?"
