Things I would never have done without the DIS

Can you point me to this thread!? We're doing exactly that in 52 days (). With a 3 year old -- getting nervous here!:scared1:

THANKS!

i don't know the thread but we've been driving down with dd since she was 7 months old. We live in Canada and it's about 2100km to WDW. We do it with 2 nights in hotels arriving around lunch time.

if your child is a good traveller then there won't or shouldn't be any problems.

things we did.

portable dvd player - i spent several weeks taping mickey mouse, winnie the pooh, dora, backyardigans and it worked out great.

we played music and talked to her. took lots of breaks so she could crawl around and streetch

you know your child best so you know how many stops you'll need to make or how long she'll sleep.

Here it is. I'm not a full-fledged member :lmao:as my drive is less than 2000miles but I still get good advice.

Our first drive down is next Friday ... we are taking the autotrain for our first time on the way back. I never would have considered the AT without reports from the DIS.

That men could run in the Princess Half Marathon. My first Disney run, but definately not my last now.

So many things to say -- from understanding GAD fastpasses to tips about car rental agencies to ADR advice to advice about hotel views. But if I had to pick one tip I got here that really is neat:

Try to time the boat from FW to the Contemporary for during the fireworks.

popcorn:: hey this is great...I have to come back an read...only on pg 2...

but the biggest thing I wouldn't have know about if it wasn't for the DIS would

be my awesome great friends I have made...although I have not met any face to face...their love, support and advice beyound Disney is nothing I ever would have dreamed of finding when I first subscribed to this site....

:grouphug:

Behind the scenes tours - I loved both the ones I have taken, especially the KTTK tour at MK.

The "Candy Lady" at the Japan pavilion at Epcot. I could watch her for hours; so fascinating!

Knowing how important it is to make ADRs in advance. Prior to the DIS, I was like most folks - had no idea that you could (or should!) make ADRs prior to arriving.

Just finished reading the entire thread. I thought I knew so much, but I have a list of 20 new things I learned from just reading this thread.

Thank you all that contributed to it's creation! :worship:

I would not have known that you could get a AAA discount at resturants in DTD.

I would not have known that I could upgrade my 5 day pass to an annual pass.

I would not have known that fasspasses did not expire.

Whoa, fast passes do not expire? But don't they have a time when you're suppose to show up?

You can show up after the given time on the same day.

I never knew how to share Wishes or Illuminations cruise. We've done two wishes and 1 Illuminations cruises and they've been great!

Another question, now that I'm reading through the thread.

Where is the best place to see Illuminations? That is dh's FAVORITE :cloud9:.

- Never would have known AP's offer discounts besides just saving money on a certain number of days' worth of tickets.

- Might not have known about the little pathway between Tomorrowland and Toontown in MK that saves a bit of crowded walking between the two and time.

- Never would have done the unbiased research I've done on here regarding whether to join DVC. It's still not for me, but how nice that a board full of WDW, and even DVC, partisans was able to give me some very good information about DVC, including the pros AND cons of it.

It's an unadvertised tip, but Fastpass do not expire until the close of the park day on the ticket. So, if you have a Fastpass that gives a return time between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m, you can not use the pass before 1:30 p.m, but they will accept the Fastpass until the park closes that night.

Thank you so much for letting me know! That is awesome.
