Things I would never have done without the DIS

One thing I would like to add to this thread

Without the DIS we would never have known to ask the conductor if our kids could be guest conductors on the WDW Railroad. DS loves trains and he still talks about being the one to say "All Aboard!"

Some of the great things that I learned from the DIS...
:thumbsup2 PB&J Shake to go at Tune in Lounge at HS - yummy

Is this the same PB&J Shake from the 50s Prime Time Cafe? We are currently planning our meals, and my DH wants to try some place new, but I cannot imagine not having it again. This could solve our problem :)

Without the Dis, I would have thrown away many FastPasses for rides we weren't able to get back to before the end of the time window printed on the ticket. Now we know they're good for the rest of the day.

Without the Dis, I never would have known about the pre-purchase discounts for the PhotoPass CD, and never would have participated in PhotoPass at the parks. Now, some of our most wonderful pictures come from that CD each trip. We also get a PhotoPass album each year now, too.

can someone explain these, please or point me in the right direction to get more info??

::MickeyMo Probably 90% of the Disney tricks up my sleeve came from the DIS

THANK YOU!!!! I can't believe I joined the DIS three years ago (I feel like an old pro now!!) and knew none of the little tips and tricks that can make an already magical trip even more fun!!

I know what Photopass is but what is the PhotoPass portrait sessions? Thanks!!!

What is the pick a pearl thing and where is it located?

At the Japan pavilion in Epcot. They have a tank of unopened oysters, you pick one and they open it and you get the pearl that is inside! They will also mount the pearl on a ring or neckless for an additional fee! Rumor is that the ugly shells can hold the best pearls!

Hmmmmm.... so many things!!

Probably choose most of the restaurants we have
use PhotoPass
Do a PhotoPass session at the Poly
STAY at the Poly
Make ADR's at the exact right time
Ride in the front of the monorail (not anymore I know)
See the Poly Torch Lighting ceremony
Get DD's hair braided at the GF Salong

I'm sure many, many more things!

Next trip:
Trying a Grand Marnier slushy!!

Yes it is.

You can't ride in the front anymore?? I've never done it and was hoping to after hearing about it on these boards...

I think it was stopped after the fatal accident a few months ago (I don't think anyone was riding up front then, but just new safety measures)

I would never have tried/known about...

The DxDP
Pick a Pearl in Japan
Riding in the front of the monorail
Tonga Toast
Boma
Pin codes
Miyuki in Japan
KTTK tour

Lots of other things too, just can't think of everything right now!

I would have never known about one of the best things at Epcot- Disney Aqua Sea Tours- where we snorkeled in the big fish tank and then later made reservations at Coral Reef so we could see where we had just swam! :cool1: It was one of the coolest things that I have every done. (right up there with taking a helicopter to a glacier & saving a whale) :lovestruc

I would never have known about- calling for wake-up calls, EMH, the importance of rope drop, tonga toast, cool drinks at the Poly pirate: and lime green mickeys. There is just too much that I have learned that I can't write it all! :cutie:

can someone explain these, please or point me in the right direction to get more info??

FastPasses can be used anytime after the window opens; you're not out of luck if you can't get back to the attraction before the end of the window.

For everything you need to know about PhotoPass check here

I would never have:

  • made an advanced dining reservation
  • found a paint brush on Tom Sawyer's Island
  • got a custom candy from Miyuki in EPCOT
  • rented points from a DVC member
  • pool hopped
  • roasted marshmallows at Fort Wilderness
  • become so Disney-addicted!

The UK phone booths in Epcot. I love calling them from home a chatting it up with someone,:chat: it's as close as I can get from TX! Now if only I could get those numbers for the Canada phone booth!!:worship::hippie:

Made my ADR's far in advance of our trip. Had I not stumbled onto the DIS, I would have assumed we could just do walk ups. Boy will I have felt stupid when we got there! :scared1:

We are members of Interval International. In the big book for Florida, they have the Disney resorts. So it's a trade.

To update the post, sadly, not anymore! talk about a great trade!
