Things I would never have done without the DIS

I can think of many, many things that I would have never known to do without the DIS . . . but most of all, I must say, that my family may have never fallen in love with Disney without the DIS!!!

So many of my friends will say, "we've been to WDW and just don't see how you can love it so much . . . the lines, the crowds, etc." :confused3

I tell them -- you just have to know how to do it right; with the right planning -- it's not stressful at all :hippie:

These are, of course, the same people who would never dream of making rope drop, instead hitting the parks between 11 and 2.

Stayed at the Poly for 45% off and stayed in TPV in Tahiti!

Photopass w discount. We love our pix!:thumbsup2

Ridmax not only save us time NO Sibling fights for a week!:cool1:

Next trip

Pirates and Pals cruise

Pirates league

THe fast way out of the MK after wishes ( run into shops on your right, they are all connected so you can go all the way down main street exiting near the restrooms on the rightside of the circle) Great with DD4! you do have to dodge some racks and cutomers but not too many in MAY!

Oh my goodness, I've learned EVERYTHING for our upcoming trip to Disney. Just a few:

Bodyglide (which I now use for dancing!)
how to use the fast pass
best restaurants and how to book them
exactly what our resort room will look like, what it has, etc.
to decorate the windows of our room
lanyards
things to take, such as glowsticks, ziplock bags, power strip, & shoe holder for the door
what to do on our last day (and we're not in the parks)
other helpful websites such as TourGuideMike

have a list of recommended CS places at each park

Can someone enlighten me??

Also, how do I find out about sharing a Wishes cruise? IF my friend and I get to go this September, I think this would be fun, but with only 2 of us, it is too expensive.

Question, is this just for fun with a child (a great idea) or is there some secret perk if you do that?

I have to say that without the DIS - we wouldn't have gone to Disney World!

Having a son with autism meant there aren't many places that he can handle without "freaking out" in time. Then I found the DIS, learned about GACs on the Disabilities board, and found a lot of support and friendship about taking him. Because of the advice there, we took a chance and went back to DH's and My favorite vacation spot on earth 14 years after our last visit. It was WONDERFUL! We went back in August of 09, Feb. 2010 and have two more trips this year. My special kudos and thanks go to SueM and CheshireFigment

In addition to great suggestions for meals, times, places, etc. we can vacation as a family! :cloud9:

Since I was planning this vacation for the two of us - I just kept checking prices on WDW site but i NOW know about tons of ways we can save money on rooms AND tickets (which by the time I learned that lesson it was already too late and unless I had someone holding my hand thru the process - we weren't changing anything!).

I now know about all of the fun secrets that lie in each park, lots of neat stuff to do at various resorts, even more exciting things to do in each park (the drinks, foods, activities, everything!) - where to see fireworks/parades the best

I am still learning abbreviations and had no idea you can abbreviate anything!

I wouldn't know about the refurbs, rumors about expansions, must-dos & must stay-aways.

I wouldn't have had the courage to call about a PIN (much less KNOW what a PIN is).

And last but not least - I come to this board everyday to read more & learn more and each day i get MORE and MORE excited about our upcoming trip!!!!

Thanks!
 :woohoo: :rotfl:

CS is Counter Service restaurants. Some are better than others, some offer something a little different, and I'm guessing the poster you quoted now has a list of them that offer what they want. :)

I AGREE!!!! So many people make fun of me for loving Disney so much (being obsessed actually) -- But that is becaues they don't do it right -- these are the same people that complain about the crowds but don't actually get to the park until 1:00 that afternoon -- By that time, I have done all my rides and am ready to go back and do them again! This board helped me plan everything -- I love reading the Trip Reports too and seeing pictures -- I may even try doing my own this time -- I just need help in learning how to load the pictures! :surfweb:

Without the DIS I never would have gone to Disney in the first place. It just wasn't on my radar. We decided to look into a kid friendly cruise for our first real family vacation, which lead me here.

SOOOO many things, but I would have NEVER known I could RENT DVC points!! We now are able to stay at a Deluxe resort, on a Value price. This will be year 2 of renting, and we're SO thrilled! The resort sets the tone of your trip. :love:LOVE staying onsite! Now we're ruined. I can't imagine NOT staying at a deluxe!! :cloud9:

How do I rent DVC points?

How do I rent DVC points?

Visit the Rent/Trade board in the DVC section and check out the posts. there will be threads from dvc members wishing to rent out points for xx amount per point and threads from people who want to rent the points.

I could probably list 100 things. My favorite tip by far was buying tickets for the Pirate and Princess Party. That was the most fun time I've ever had at WDW - too bad it's gone :sad2:

My second favorite tip was bringing the shoe organizer for my toiletries. I'm high-maintenance and bring a lot of stuff.

My third favorite tip was getting matching shirts made. It was so much easier keeping track of 8 people who were wearing lime green shirts, especially when you are at the parks during a busy time.

I went a couple of weeks ago and thanks to this thread tried:
Dole Whip - loved it
Ice cream cookie sandwich - not so sure
Le cellier
Used FP's after the time - did check with CM first ;);)
Had made all ADR's - only cancelled 1 while we were there rest worked out perfect.
Used photopass to get lots of shots - even the "magic" ones and bought the CD
Slowed down and enjoyed a bit of people watching time

As we couldn't do order DH took a taxi from MK via Hess to CSR. Bought case water for $4:99, some beer, pop (sorry coke) and chips. Even with the taxi costs we saved on the water alone.:thumbsup2

Just looking through rest of thread for new things to try next time - PLEASE DH!!!!

Pick a pearl
Le Cellier
Have a Dole Whip
Wishes from the beach at the Poly
School House Bread in Norway
where to watch Illuminations:wizard:
