Things I just do not understand..

Do the checkouts have rolls of clear plastic bags, or are the cashiers separating your produce into regular grocery bags before putting them into another bag?

I notice that some cashiers will take it upon themselves to double bag chicken or other meats, but never saw it with produce.
Yes - that's what I mean. They gather up the peppers or lemons or onions or whatever that I have placed on the belt and put them into bags from the produce section before they weigh and check them and then put those bags in the actual grocery bag. It seems especially absurd as I generally only ever buy one or two of these items at a time. If I'm picking up 3lbs. of apples or a dozen oranges, of course I've already put them in a produce bag. Sometimes it gets comical like when the cashier asked me to "hold one side" of the produce bag for her while she tried to stuff a large cantaloupe in...just stop already!!

My do not understand
Retired people in the grocery store on Saturday morning

Yes! Or lunch at exactly noon on a weekday in a business area. Or 8:00 am Dr appointments that require them to negotiate rush hour traffic.

I don't understand why people talk on their cell phones in public restrooms? Whoever is on the other end probably doesn't want to hear all of the sounds they may be hearing. Plus, it is just odd to have someone in the stall next to you talking away.

OK, I don't flush in these instances just to be ornery. But I *might* hurry up and try to finish quickly just to see if I can get the flush in before they hang up....... :rolleyes1

{{shudder}} Please tell me this is just an urban myth...it's beyond gross, it's unthinkable. :scared:
It's especially gross, when you're in the restroom with an employee & they leave without washing their hands. I've had to hurry out to stop DH from ordering anything more than once at fast food restaurants. :scared:

My boss is a notorious non hand washer. We have Clorox wipes stashed everywhere.
You've never struck me as the shrinking-violet type, Gumbo. How do you keep from saying "Stop being disgusting and wash your freaking hands..."?? :furious:

It's one of the few things on which I don't call him out. But, I should :)

Retired people who go to the bank on payday Fridays during lunch hour. Thank goodness I got direct deposit.

I think sometimes older people (I don't know if "retired" fits this age group necessarily) live alone. When I worked at a department store I had a lot of regulars that weren't shopping for anything in particular. They came in during busy times clearly to be around other people and to make small talk and ask questions about items (my guess is for the company). I think a lot of people in this world go out just to be around others.

I wish it were just a myth. Some skip the sink altogether. Some just wet their hands for two seconds and skip the soap.

Pot lucks and buffets can be tough to stomach knowing this information.

Yeah, thanks for wrecking them for me...;)

When people spend thousands of dollars to book a cruise, and then, when the ship is in port, pay several hundred dollars more to go to an all-inclusive hotel for the day.

Why not stay on the ship, where everything is already paid for (if you want to stay in your "safe" little bubble)? Or enjoy the "native life" while onshore (take a chance, you might like it)?
