That's so amazing about Allison's trip to Europe! I'm a little jealous!! I've always wanted to go! lol

Because she comes home in September, is she taking a semester off before starting college? Has she decided where she wants to go to school yet? I was just doing all of this last year (college applications, scholarships, ACT, graduation party plans, graduation itself) - I can't believe it's already been almost a year since graduating high school... time flies wayy too fast! I think I remember more of my graduation party than I do of graduation itself! We had my graduation party the night of graduation and it was so much fun!! The last few weeks were filled with graduation parties, studying for finals, and trying not to cry about leaving high school! Gahhh - still can't believe it's almost been a year!

I can't believe Allison is spending that long time in Europe. It will be a lot of fun for her. I can totally understand that you want to pay cash for all the trips. It's not fun having to pay the credit card bill for a long time after the trip is done.

Today I've been planning my little birthday party with my family that I'm having on Sunday. My birthday isn't until Monday, but it's easier to gather people on a Sunday.

Have a great day

Yes - it is a long time - and it makes me so nervous and so excited for her all at the same time.

Yay for birthdays - I hope you have a lot of fun!

Thanks Lillian - have a great weekend and enjoy your party! :lovestruc

:yay: Glad you got the airfare to Europe booked! I can't imagine having one of my kids being gone for that long but agree she will have a great experience. We are planning on dropping my daughter off with my brother and his family on our way back from Florida in June, thinking she'll stay with them for about a week and will help my SIL take care of my two nephews (who will be 4 and 2 at the time) and help take care of their farm (she has a gazillion chickens, some horses and 3 dogs) so I know my SIL will love having the help...and my daughter will love helping with the babies...but I will miss her for that week and she's only a 7-hour drive away if things don't work out.

Here's hoping you have a good weight loss day too!

It's such a relief to have it booked... I've had the $$ for a while now, but I haven't pulled the trigger, because I was hoping it would go down - but it remained constant and everyone was getting nervous that I hadn't purchased it yet... So, it was time.

It's a very long time for her to be away from home - but she will be with family and that eases my mind greatly. And I have a great deal of respect and love for Myrthe's family as well, so I have no doubt that she will be in good hands.

Your dd will have a lot of fun - I am sure - and I am sure your family will be very happy to have her there.

Thanks - I was happy with it... I'll chat more about it below. :thumbsup2

Yum! That sounds good! How do you usually prepare your salmon? Do you put some sort of marinade on it, or just leave it plain?

That is so exciting the airfare is booked! I bet she will have so much fun I saw on FB Allison quickly mentioned a blog, if she decides to do one, please let us know, I know I would love to read it!

Well, I found the recipe on pinterest - LOL - my "go-to" recipe place. LOL This time it was a "topping" that I did - and it had lemon zest, butter and grated parmesan in it - it was very good.

It is very exciting - and a bit scary... I am quite nervous, but since she has a direct flight - she will get on a plane here and BMTL will be on the other side waiting for her - so I don't have to worry about her changing planes or going through customs in another country - where possibly she doesn't know the language... At least where she is going - almost everyone is fluent in English, at least a little bit - so she will be OK almost everywhere, and she will always have someone with her who speaks the language too.

If she does start a blog or a trip report of some sort - I will be sure to post it on FB... I probably won't share it here though. :lovestruc Just because safety is a huge concern.

I know - I am a little jealous too - it's an amazing opportunity for her - for both of the girls when V's time comes too... When I was their age - an opportunity like that didn't even exist for me, it wasn't even on my radar... So, to have this opportunity for my girls - well, it's just amazing.

We decided, several months ago, that she will not start college until after Christmas... She was just getting too stressed out about the possibility of going to Europe, and immediately coming home and going straight to school... So, we all decided that this trip to Europe was a once in a lifetime thing, and we wanted her to enjoy it without the stress of what was coming after - we "released" her from the obligation of going to school in the fall... So, she will go to Europe and come home in September, work full-time for the remainder of the year, to build up her savings again... And then she will start college after Christmas. It's not exactly what we wanted for her future - but we do believe it's what's best. :lovestruc

These last few months of school will likely be emotional for her too... She has graduation, and then her party is the following week, and then she leaves for Europe the week after... It's going to be a great adventure - and it does go fast!

**********************************************************************************************************

Alrighty - yesterday... First things first... I weighed in and I am happy with my hard work this month. I was down 8.6 lbs! :woohoo: That feels great! I knew I was down and I was hoping for a good loss, I am very happy with this. And even more, I am very happy that I am moving in the right direction again - and I've figured out my error. I'd almost resigned to the fact that my body was revolting on me, and I'd never make it to my original goal... I feel like there is hope again and that gives me renewed energy. :thumbsup2

So, after I weighed - I did my heavy lifting... As usual - I sometimes hate doing it, but I also love it at the same time.

Then I worked upstairs all day... I was able to make a lot of progress and I am happy with that.

Last night - Josh and I did a little bit of work in the living room... But just as we started - it started raining out, so we had to pack everything up and put it away. But we did make a little progress and set ourselves up for a productive weekend - so that's good. Josh is hoping to have the second coat of paint on the walls we are working on and the trim on all of the windows by the end of the weekend. :woohoo: I am sooo excited! Then we will push all of our furniture over and start on the next walls. ::yes::

Today - I plan to work out right away this morning.

Then I plan to work upstairs for a few hours.

I will pick the girls up from school and run some errands... I hope to get the original curtains I'd purchased for the living room returned and possibly run up to buy the curtains I really want. I am not sure I will have the time to do this today - but I am hoping.

No huge plans for the weekend here... Just working on the living room and making progress there. The color is really growing on me - and I think I really love it. So, that's good.

I hope you all have a great weekend! Prayers and good thoughts go out to all of you! :lovestruc

Congratulation on your weigh-in :D
Sounds like you have enough to do this weekend. I hope you have a great weekend

Congratulations on a great weigh-in! That's wonderful! I'm trying very hard not to weigh myself every day right now...trying to go to weekly but I'm worried I'll start gaining back the weight I've lost....but I also know that, based on my history, I need NOT get obsessed with the scale because that just leads to bad things for me. It's a balance.....

It sounds like your living room is coming along nicely. :-)

Congrats on the weigh-in!! :flower1:

The snow that arrived the other day is gone (it didn't last long on the ground), but we are getting more tomorrow :crazy2: Just puts a damper on my weekend.

So excited for Allison. What a great experience for her. Wishing her a wonderful trip and safe travels.

Hope you get all the paint and trim done this weekend.

Have a great weekend!

Sounds lie a simple but delicious recipe - I'll have to try that some time...

Gotcha, I'll keep an eye out for it if she does!:goodvibes

Congratulations! :cool1:

Congrats on your weight-loss! It's awesome to feel like all your hard work is really paying off! It makes it that much easier to stick with it!

I didn't comment on it before but I really love the color you chose for your living room.

Have a great weekend!! Good luck with the next walls!

Congrats on your weight loss! Your hard work has paid off! :teeth: Tonight my boys are all away at a hockey game so I was alone for dinner. I went to Chipotle and it was so good! I savored every bite because I have no idea when I'll be back.

Allison is going to have a great time in Europe this summer! It sounds like an amazing trip! My boys have always wanted to go to London ever since they were five-years-old. I honestly have no idea where their obsession has come from. Anyway, friends of ours always take each child on a special trip the summer after they graduate from high school. One night at dinner my boys asked if we could do something like that. I asked where they'd like to go and - you probably guessed it - London! DH and I thought, why not? Since they are twins we'll only really be celebrating their high school graduations once. I opened another savings account and have been putting money aside whenever I have extra. I know their destination could change, but we do really want to go on a special trip when they graduate and I thought it's never too early to start saving.

I hope you have a great weekend!

I knew that if you got back on track with your eating you would see a loss. Good going! This weekend I need to finish our taxes - yes I waited until the last minute, although they are mostly done. Still need to get the state and local forms filled out. Then I plan to remove the rest of the wallpaper in the kitchen. I'm getting anxious to start painting.

Charlie told me last night that he wants to go to Disney again in December :scared1: I said after last year that I really didn't need to go for the holidays again - it is just too hectic trying to get everything done in time for the holidays, but he really wants to go, so I guess we are going....

I also booked our spring trip next March. Part of that week will be spent in Sarasota watching my favorite baseball team play...

We are supposed to get snow tomorrow  along with freezing temps. I am so ready for winter to be over. I need to go for a run, but I probably will be running on the treadmill tomorrow. Not my favorite, but I really need to do it.:charac2:

I'm finally getting caught up again. So glad your knee is on the mend and that your tooth seems to be better too. I hope Allison is on the mend too! Yay for home improvement projects. I have a love/hate relationship with home improvement projects. I hate all the work and mess but love the end result! If you don't want to sand and scrape the dresser for the media console, have you considered chalk paint?

I painted and old IKEA cabinet with chalk paint and for our guest room we had completely mismatched flea market furniture that now all matches! It is really easy to work with and does not require all of the prep work that refinishing does.

OK - seriously - I keep coming back to this post... I really think you've talked me into it. :scratchin I've been pinning away on Pinterest all morning... I was laying in bed wide awake at (ahem) 1:30am, and I never did go back to sleep... Sometimes I get my best/craziest ideas when I am laying there in the middle of the night & I just can't shake this painted dresser idea. ::yes:: So, I think I am going to do it? Eeeep! :woohoo: However - because my living room has that darned formal curio cabinet - I think I am not going to use chalk paint, but more of a glossier look... ACK!!!! What have you done to me???? LOL But I am super excited!!!! So... Guess what the girls and I are going to be working on in the very near future? :scratchin Yes, I did just volunteer them. LOL

Congratulation on your weigh-in
Sounds like you have enough to do this weekend. I hope you have a great weekend

Thanks - I am pretty excited about it! It's so nice and such a relief to be moving in the right direction again.

Yes - I hope you have a nice weekend too - Enjoy your party and if I don't see you again before your birthday - I hope you have a wonderful birthday! :lovestruc

Thank you! It's been a lot of dedication this past month, and lots of refocusing, but I feel so much better. I am afraid to try on my white capris yet - as they didn't fit the last time I tried... However, the last time I wore them, I was this weight... Hopefully I will get the courage soon? :scratchin

The scale is evil - I am certain of that... I used to be obsessive about it, but I just had to step away. Now, well, I go months without weighing sometimes - which isn't always good either... So, I've kind of settled into this monthly thing - at least while I am trying to lose... I feel like there is too much up/down/up when I weigh weekly and it sometimes frustrates me to the point that I want to quit - and in the past I have quit... This just sits with me much better. During the month though - I am very aware of how my clothes are fitting and other things that are less emotional to concentrate on. :lovestruc

I wish it would come along nicely just a little faster. LOL I am anxious to get to decorating it!!! ::yes::

Congrats on the weigh-in!!

Have a great weekend!

Thank you Lynee... It feels good to be headed in the right direction again. :)

Yes - the weather is crazy! Yesterday - it was sunny here, very cold, but sunny. So, I left the house in jeans and flip flops (which is typical for me any time of year there isn't snow - regardless of temperature)... Well, on my way into town (just 10 miles away) - I hit blizzard conditions... I was starting to second-guess my flip flop decision. :scratchin When I got to town - the snow was done, but you could see it had been there, so I had to hop through slushy spots in my flip flops... Again, second guessing, and feeling slightly foolish. LOL Then the sun came out... It was beautiful... Snow was melted and gone. Went to Target - wandered - checked out - looked outside - it was blizzarding again. ::yes:: So, I stood in the doors and chatted with a neighbor for about 30 minutes, by the time we left - it was sunny again and the snow had melted. Drove to school, picked up V, drove to the mall, blizzard conditions again on the way there... by the time we got there, the sun was out and the snow had melted. LOL Gonna try my luck in flip flops again today. ::yes:: Fingers crossed for no snow. LOL

I am so excited for her too - a bit scared, but excited. It will be a great adventure for her, for sure!

Gosh - I sure hope so!!! There has not been as much progress on it this week as I had wanted and we have a busy weekend on top of trying to work on this project... We should have all of this afternoon/evening and then all of tomorrow to work on it - I am very hopeful that we will be able to make great progress.

Thank you - same goes to you! :lovestruc

Sounds lie a simple but delicious recipe - I'll have to try that some time...

That is great about the direct flight - probably much easier for you and her!

Gotcha, I'll keep an eye out for it if she does!

Congratulations!

It was really good!

Yes - I debated long and hard about the direct flight, as the price difference was HUGE - $600 huge. But in the end, I knew I didn't want a layover in Iceland - as they don't speak English as a main language at all - and if there was a layover, she'd have to go through customs - possibly - to get to her connecting flight. I would have been a wreck and I don't think I could have emotionally handled that. So, I decided to err on the side of my sanity and put her on a direct flight. We will say our goodbyes at security here and BMTL will be waiting for her just outside of customs there... So, it's just a BIG relief to me!

It's also possible that she might do some sort of private group on FB... That way she can almost do it "live"? We will see - I will talk to her about it. It would be awesome if she could do it here, but obviously - it's not Disney related, however, she may be going to DLP for a day or two? But that is uncertain... I am sure she will do something to document this trip though. :lovestruc Lord knows, I'll be stalking her! LOL

Thank you! It's been a lot of hard work and dedication - I am just happy to be moving in the right direction again. ::yes::

Congrats on your weight-loss! It's awesome to feel like all your hard work is really paying off! It makes it that much easier to stick with it!

I didn't comment on it before but I really love the color you chose for your living room.

Have a great weekend!! Good luck with the next walls!

Thank you - it was so frustrating there for a while - so it's just such a relief to be moving in the right direction again.

Thanks! It's really, really grown on me - a lot... I am loving that it's a neutral color but just a little cheery at the same time. :thumbsup2 And the fact that I've found the perfect curtains to go with it and bring everything together doesn't hurt either. LOL

Thanks so much - I hope you have a great weekend too! And thanks, I am just hoping that we get to them. ::yes::

Thanks! It's just a relief to be headed towards my original ultimate goal again. Ahhh... I love Chipotle - it's no secret... I ate there yesterday too... Too bad we couldn't have enjoyed our meal together. ::yes:: I hope you get to go back sooner rather than later. Soooo... What did you have? LOL

I am so excited for her - I get a little overwhelmed when I think about it - but it's just such an amazing opportunity, and she is so very lucky to be able to do it... Not only to stay with BMTL, but all of Myrthe's family is there too - and they are one giant extended family to us, as well - Myrthe's parents are very much surrogate grandparents to the girls... So, she will be in very capable hands, I have no doubt - well loved, well cared for and well supervised. ::yes::

20150725_200504.jpg

Oooh - that will be soooo exciting!!! I know that Allison would love to go to London too - I am not sure if she will get the chance while she is there? I sure hope she does - it's a relatively inexpensive flight for her from where she is staying... but it will really depend on her comfort level. Saving now is a good thing... It is so expensive to fly over there - especially if all 4 of you are going - but what an amazing and memorable experience for both of them!

Thank you - I hope you have a nice weekend as well. :lovestruc

Yes - in my heart - I knew it too... Sometimes I just don't think I have my brain turned on. LOL Now that I am eating where I should - I am happy to be going the right way again. :lovestruc

Yah - I have my business taxes done, we just need to file. I do believe that's on the agenda for this weekend - on top of everything else.

Exciting - I hope you are able to make as much progress as you're hoping for. :thumbsup2

Eeep!!! :woohoo: I always love hearing when you all are going down again - you always have so much fun on both trips! ::yes::

I know - I am tired of winter too... And I also need to start running again - or at least walking - something. Here's to warmer weather for both of us. ::yes::

Have a great weekend Tess!

***************************************************************************************************

Sooo... I worked out yesterday morning... Then I worked upstairs for a few hours. I was able to accomplish what I'd wanted to, so that's always good. I did not finish last week's custom order before the weekend - so I'll have some finish up work to do on Monday - but it shouldn't take me too long.

Then... I went to town... Gonna copy and paste from above, because it's quite humorous. ::yes:: The weather is crazy! Drove to school, picked up V, drove to the mall, blizzard conditions again on the way there... by the time we got there, the sun was out and the snow had melted. LOL Gonna try my luck in flip flops again today. ::yes:: Fingers crossed for no snow. LOL

So, at Target - I purchased a few things for the living room... They had a coupon this week for $10 off of a $50 home decor purchase... So, on Sunday I purchased my long curtain rod I need for the bay window, plus one of the other rods I needed, which came to exactly $50 - or $34 after my discounts. :woohoo: Then yesterday - I purchased the other rod I needed and the curtain panels... Again $50 - or $34 after discounts. :woohoo: I am pretty excited to have those out of the way - and to get 3 curtain rods plus the panels I need for my windows for $68... Well, I think that's kind of a bargain. ::yes:: Granted - I still have to buy the curtains for the bay window - but I am buying those elsewhere, and they are kind of my "statement piece" in that room - so I am spending a bit more on those. I am getting so excited about this room!

Then... :scratchin If you saw my reply above to Michelle - I've decided to PAINT that dresser I am bringing down from our bedroom. I wasn't going to - I was thinking it would be better all "matchy-matchy" in there, so I could coordinate with the curio... but then I got to thinking - well, that's just not us. So - too bad - I am painting the dresser and it's going to be ahhh-mazing! Well, maybe? :scratchin LOL And I've decided to paint it a COLOR - so not only will my curtains be a focal point - I've decided that this dresser will be too... I don't think it will be too bold though, so that's good. I am very excited about this. And since it's a bit easier to paint - than to stain - it's possible, but probably unlikely, that it will be finished in time for Allison's open house/going away party. Soooo - that's my exciting news for today. LOL

Gosh - sorry this is getting so long...

So, I stopped yesterday at Home Depot and I returned the original curtains I'd purchased for the living room, because they just didn't look right with the paint... and while I was there - I purchased the red paint we decided on for the kitchen. So, it's nice to have that out of the way too. Now, I just need to decide if it would look dumb to have the living room paint extend to the one wall of the kitchen? :scratchin They are connected - but there is a wall/opening between the two. I am not sure about this? Does it even matter?

I met Josh at Allison's work and we swapped out cars... We ate dinner at our favorite new Chinese place... It was good and I didn't over stuff myself - I was full - but not terrible. So, that was a nice bonus.

I thought we would come home and work on the living room... I have to admit I was a lot disappointed/annoyed when Josh sat in his recliner, took and nap and woke up with a headache. This project will get done - even if I have to do it myself... But in that case - it definitely won't be pretty. ::yes::

Today... Gosh... It's a big day for V - she starts her college classes on the weekends. I haven't said much about it, but she was accepted into an art school - and part of the program is that she can take 1 free class towards her degree, each quarter, on the weekends, until she graduates high school. This is a HUGE thing and I am so very proud of her!!! :woohoo: So we are pretty excited for her for this!

While she is doing that - Allison and I are going to run and buy the living room curtains - well, first I want to see them in person - then I will buy them if I like them. If I don't like them, I will be incredibly disappointed - as I kind of have my heart set on them. So, I better like them. ::yes::

Then we should all arrive back here at the same time, to spend the remainder of the day working on the living room.

Wow - that was a crazy update!!! Sorry for all the reading I made you do today. :lovestruc I hope you all have a wonderful day! Pixie Dust to all!

D~

I'm glad you have Alli's flight worked out. She's so lucky to be able to spend the summer in Europe with family. Congrats to V for getting accepted to college and being able to start now.
Your weather sounds crazy like ours. We had 8 inches of snow over night. I have to go out and clear the drive this morning. I'm going to a birthday party this afternoon. My little nephew is already 4. It's so hard to believe he's that old.
I'm on vacation this week. I had planned on painting my hallway but now I'm not too sure as the weather isn't supposed to be that great.a
My assistant manager approved my September vacation finally. My daughter started making adrs. She's so excited about it which is kind of funny since her husband and her are going to Disney World the beginning of May.
I like the paint color you picked for your living room. My living room is a very light beige and has been that color for years but I don't know what color to paint it. I totally understand wanting to replace the carpeting. Mine is a mess too but I have an unfinished hardwood floor under it. The key word is unfinished. I'm debating about having my neighbor stain and finish for me.
Congrats on losing weight and figuring out what was going on. That's half the battle.
Have a good weekend.
Liz

The weather you had yesterday sounds crazy.

Sounds like you had a good shopping curtains day yesterday :) Painting the dresser sounds like a good idea. I can't wait to see pictures of the finished room.
I think that to paint the wall that connects the kitchen and living room can be nice.

What a shame that you didn't get Josh to continue with the living room yesterday. I hope you get to work on it today.

Congratulation to V on getting accepted into the art school :woohoo:

Thank you for the birthday whishes

I'm making a cake for my birthday that has meringue on it. That means I'm getting egg yolk to spare. I search the internet to find out what I could do with the egg yolks. I found a recipe on vanilla ice cream which is perfect to use the egg yolks on. And that suits me perfect since Ulf and I are having blueberry pie with ice cream on Monday. Instead of buying the ice cream I will try to make it my self. Then I remembered that my parents has a ice cream machine. So I called my mom and asked if I could borrow the machine. It will be a little easier to make the ice cream with the machine that without and it will take less time to make ice cream with the machine. I got to loan the machine so after dinner today I will try to make the ice cream. If it doesn't turn out good I can buy ice cream at the store on Monday :)

It's also possible that she might do some sort of private group on FB... That way she can almost do it "live"? We will see - I will talk to her about it. It would be awesome if she could do it here, but obviously - it's not Disney related, however, she may be going to DLP for a day or two?
Live updates are even cooler! Oh wow - I have always wanted to visit DCP. I have seen pictures and it looks beautiful.
ell, on my way into town (just 10 miles away) - I hit blizzard conditions... I was starting to second-guess my flip flop decision. :scratchin
Oh my gosh what a crazy weather day for you! Glad the snow melted though. I hate the fact were are still getting snow, and it's the middle of April...hopefully all of this will stop soon!

Wow! What a great deal!
LOL
I love this idea - any colors in mind yet? Would you pick a color that might match another color in the room?
The more you talk about the room the more excited I am to see it finished!
Today...
This is fantastic! How wonderful for V! Coming from a college student, the fact she will have credits going into college is such a wonderful thing! It will make her life easier in the long run, and sometimes you can even graduate early!

How exciting that is for her!

Yes - she is very excited! :lovestruc

Liz

Yes - it was such a relief to get it - I was hoping that it would be a little cheaper, but it's nice to be done with that part.

I hope the birthday party was fun and clearing the snow wasn't too terrible. :thumbsup2 And ENJOY your vacation! :woohoo: You deserve it! Your dd is going to have an amazing trip too - what are some of the ADRs she chose?

Thanks - I am loving it more and more every day - especially now that I've found curtains that I like. I can't wait to get it all set up and decorated.

I just look at my carpet and cringe now... It looks worse and worse every day... I keep hoping that we can find a decent solution. I plan to revisit it with Josh once we finish these other projects... If there is any possible way we can have new carpet installed - it would be amazing!

Thanks Liz - have a great weekend too! And enjoy your time off of work! :lovestruc

The weather you had yesterday sounds crazy.

Sounds like you had a good shopping curtains day yesterday Painting the dresser sounds like a good idea. I can't wait to see pictures of the finished room.
I think that to paint the wall that connects the kitchen and living room can be nice.

What a shame that you didn't get Josh to continue with the living room yesterday. I hope you get to work on it today.

Congratulation to V on getting accepted into the art school

Thank you for the birthday whishes

Yes - the weather here has been a little strange... And quite chilly this last week - but it's better than winter, so I'll happily take it. ::yes::

I did good shopping for curtains the other day - but just wait until you hear yesterday's shopping adventure - I think it tops everything so far! :scratchin

I saw your ice cream on FB last night - it looked delicious! Did it taste as good as it looked? Have fun at your party today! :woohoo:

Live updates are even cooler! Oh wow - I have always wanted to visit DCP. I have seen pictures and it looks beautiful.

Yes - I hope she does them... She asked me yesterday if there is anything I wanted from Europe while she was there... And I said I wanted live updates. LOL And lots n' lots of pictures. ::yes:: So, hopefully - I'll get my wish. :lovestruc

It was a crazy weather day - so strange. That's the only thing that gets me through - is I know it will be over soon.

Just wait until you hear about the deals I got yesterday! :woohoo: Super excited!

I do have a color in mind - but I haven't decided for sure on it yet, so I want it to be a surprise. But I'll be showing you all THE curtains I've been swooning over below - and maybe you'll be able to figure out the color I am choosing from that? :lmao: Hehehehe... No, seriously - I am debating on a few colors though, and I haven't quite decided yet. I want to get the dresser down stairs and the room mostly put together - and then I think I will decide for sure.

Yes - she had a blast yesterday at her class!!! I am so excited for her! :woohoo: Yes - by doing this, she will graduate, I believe, 6 months early? If she takes advantage of every opportunity she is allowed... With our schedule though - I am not sure it will be possible every time. It's pretty fantastic though. I am very excited for her! :woohoo:

**************************************************************************************************

Ok you all... Are you ready for more living room shopping adventures? LOL

So, since yesterday is a weekend - I didn't work out. Annnnd, I had 2 cups of coffee. I love Saturday mornings. :lovestruc

Josh and V left early, so they could make it to her class on time.

I woke Allison shortly after - and asked her to come shopping with me. So, we got ready and headed out the door, so we could be there when the stores opened. I was on a mission. :scratchin

So, I found these curtains at Pier 1 last week, and the moment I saw them - I wanted them! But, whoa, they were expensive! At $50 per panel (not set) - the minimum it was going to cost me was $100 - and wowza... That was more than I really wanted to spend. Most curtains are sold in 84" lengths... So, I measured - and we have SHORT walls - but no matter how many times I measured - I still needed 90", at least. Well, the 96" curtains in this style/pattern were on clearance for $14.99 online, but sold out/discontinued and not available in stores in my area. Such a bummer - because that is exactly what I needed. So, yesterday morning - I happened to be on the website, and I opened a window that I didn't see before - and suddenly, there were 2 available in my area - at 2 different stores, about an hour away from me, and then an hour away from each other - essentially one big triangle. Yes, Allison - we may be driving a lot today. LOL We arrive at the first store - a bit before opening, and we waited... They open their doors and we bee line for the curtains... A super nice lady was helping us - and she was able to dig and find THREE panels - all of them $14.99! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Doing the math - this is an extra panel for less than half the price I was going to pay for two full price ones. I was so excited! So, Allison and I took this time to look around the store some more - hunting down all of the clearance sections like pros. ::yes:: I found 4 large candle sticks - various colors/sizes/shapes for less than $25 total. I was so excited! I will be able to use these in various places around the living room. Oh - and then I had a coupon for 10% off my entire purchase... I was outta there in under $70. :woohoo:

When we were done there, we were getting back on the interstate, and I suggested to Allison that we should look at the next Pier 1 "down the road" - hahaha... even though the website said they didn't have the curtains, the website said that this store we were just at only had 1, and they had 3.... So, maybe there was hope for a 4th panel? The Pier 1 "down the road" was much further away than I thought it was, lol... but we went there anyways. Sadly - no curtains at all... but I did find an amazing lantern - I've always wanted one to decorate with... It was regular price $100, and I found it on clearance for $15!!!! :woohoo: That baby was MINE! LOL Then - I was also able to use my 10% off coupon again. If you are keeping track, I am still $15 under budget.

We decided to quit while we were ahead, and grab lunch - Chipotle, of course... And we sat there and talked for almost an hour. Gosh - I am going to miss this girl something terrible! :(

I received a message from V, that her and Josh were on their way home. I was so excited to hear about her day.

We all arrived home at about the same time - Josh already had his work clothes on and was setting up to get started on the bay.

V had an awesome first day at college - she LOVES it! I am so excited for her!

I took out my new curtains and held them up to the walls... Perfect coordination! It's hard to tell in the picture - but my walls are exactly the color of the lightest color in the curtains. I also have to add... Never in my life, have I ever spent $$ on nice curtains... I've always purchased them at Target - not that there is anything wrong with Target curtains at all... but the fabric on these is ahhhh-mazing! It's so soft and a beautiful quality fabric - there is NO way I could have made these myself with this quality of fabric for even close to the price they were full-price, never mind at the deal I got them for. I still need to hem them - and I am not sure what I am going to do with the extra panel... Make pillows or something? With all of my spare time? :scratchin LOL

Josh and I worked very hard to get everything done yesterday - he worked harder than I did, but I helped where I could. The part that took the longest wasn't the trim - it was getting the extension jams flush with the wall and the window... It was a pain and it took a lot of patience for Josh to do... The trim itself was the "easy" part.

In the end, we finished trimming the bay window - we still have to seal coat the trim, but my window is trimmed and I couldn't be more ecstatic!!!! :woohoo: We were also able to get the 2nd coat of paint on the 2 walls. Here's how it looks this morning... Please forgive the mess - we have a LOT of dusting and cleaning to do, but we aren't done yet - so....

I've been waiting 8 years for trim on this window, and you have no idea how happy this makes me... I've loved this window for so long -- but the fact that there was no trim on it, really just made me annoyed with it.... So, to finally have it finished - well, I am beyond thrilled!

So, today... We've moved all of our furniture towards the other side of the room now... Josh plans to trim out both of our remaining windows today. He also plans to put up the baseboards on the other side of the room, and possibly prime and do the first coat of paint. We will see how it goes?

As it turns out - our coffee pot died right after it brewed our coffee this morning... So, I will end up going to town to replace it at some point today. Such a bummer, but at least it died after it brewed our coffee and not before. ::yes::

That's about all. I hope you all have a wonderful remainder to your weekend! :lovestruc

What an adventure! But totally worth it, those are some excellent deals!!! And I LOVE the curtains!! It gives you so many different options with decor.

The trim looks great, kudos to Josh. I love the little accent pieces in the corners too.

How great that you found the curtains you wanted and all the other stuff on sale :woohoo:
Did you get a 4th panel?
I can't wait to see the finished room.

I'm glad to hear V had an awesome day at college. Crossing my fingers that it will continue that way.

I can totally understand that you are beyond thrilled about getting trim on the window.

I'm sure the other half of the room will be as nice as the part you have finished.

What a bummer that your coffee pot died. But it was perfect timing that it died after it brewed your morning coffee.

The ice cream I made last night is delicious. I only took a bite of it because we are having it tomorrow. I really don't want to share it with my guest today. :rotfl:It's so good I want it all for myself LOL I know I'm mean.
Today I'm finishing the cake I started on yesterday that I'm going to share with my guests today. And then I have to set the table so everything is ready when my guests arrives.

Great job on the curtain panels. Don't you just love when you get a good deal?!?! Knowing you got such a good deal is going to make you love the curtains even more. I love Pier 1. I have quite a few things in my house from that store. Reading about all the good deals you found makes me want to go there and look for some new accent pieces; I need to change some things in my family room.

I hope you have a great day!

I'm glad you found the curtains you were looking for and that the looked as good as you thought they would in person. The fact that they were on sale is even better. You'll find something to do with the extra panel. It seems that whenever I buy curtains I have to hem them.
Your window is looking good. Hopefully you guys get more done today.
About the adr's, I remember SciFi, Kona, Liberty Tree and Cape May for breakfast. She made some others but I don't remember what they were. My son-in-law is a very fussy eater so it's hard to find places he'll eat at.
The birthday party went well. The little kids were suprisingly well behaved. My nephew loved almost everything he got. he wasn't thrilled with the clothes.
Enjoy your day
Liz

That is fantastic. You must be relieved that it is finished. :)

Those are adorable. It really ties the room together. :)

We have had our daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren visiting us this week. They live 1,000 miles away so I don't see them too often. We've had a great time but our 6 year old granddaughter had a cold. And now I have a cold. :( But it was worth it. :)

We had the same kind of weather you had, with the blizzard, then the sun, then the rain. Our guests would have preferred a little more sun. Our son-in-law asked how we can stand all this cloudy weather and we said that this was why we always went to WDW in the winter time, to escape the gloom. ;)
