I remember the 17 year cicada's they were creepy!! DD was about 5 and she is still petrified of them. When we are out and we here the chirpping sound she starts freaking out. And we didn't have them as bad as some places.

Love bugs aren't worring me except we are driving the new car down and we don't want paint issues. So what happens to your car and how do you fix it?

That must be why everyone in Florida has those big screen things around their pool area.

Bring a package of baby wipes with you wherever you go, when you get out wipe off the front of car. Lovebugs if left on the paint for too long WILL ruin it.

Yup!!!!!! they are back..... we left on Monday, Sept 21 and we saw our first one that morning while we were sitting by the pool. So this is just the beginning!

Ew... but at least they don't bite or sting (which was my big concern). When I was a kid we used to go camping where they had mosquitos large enough to carry off cats, these I can live with.

Found this regarding the season...

"They emerge in the spring and fall (usually May and September), although this can vary by a few weeks earlier or later. The total "season" lasts 3-5 weeks.

They are most active in the mid-morning and just before nightfall -- during the day they tend to find shelter in the shade."

you can probably see a few here and there for about a month, but it is really only bad for a few weeks
