Yes, our lil love bugs have returned to central Florida boys and girls...ughhhhh

hooooray!!! j/k :lmao:

They've never bothered me much-- they don't bite or sting so I don't mind. You just might find two of them doin' the nasty on your shirt or something.

I heard the past couple of years they were around but not that bad..I think in 2006 they were everywhere.

2006 was a nightmare! we live about an hour and a half south of WDW on the coast and they were much, much worse! We had to get our car pressure washed 2 times a week. The good news is that they only stick around en mass a couple of weeks, the best part is the normal afternoon florida showers will wash them away for a while (but it will increase the humidity!)

Whyyyyyyyyy? Whyyyyyyyyy?

Only joking. I figured they would be coming during my trip. As long as I don't run into a cockroach, everything will be fine.

Yep figured they would be back just in time for my trip next week!

It used to be horrible living in Central Florida and driving a white car, I used to have to wash my car like every other day because they would mess up the front end of my car and leave a mess.

Doggone lovebugs! As a child, I used to HATE going to florida (GASP!:rolleyes1) when I knew lovebugs were out in full force. What a nightmare!! I used to scream and run into buildings. They'd be crawling on our clothes and in our shoes and all over the place!! :scared1:

So are they light or are there a lot of them? We were there during this time last year and they were around but not a big deal. I saw the most at BB but just had to swat them away a few times. We leave saturday - heres hoping there are not a lot this year!

Live through a summer in the midwest with a batch of 17 year cicadas and lovebugs will never bother you again. :)

I love the cicadas...their music is so soothing! Now the lovebugs, although it won't ruin a trip to Florida, I sure am glad we didn't have them last week. I only saw one the entire trip!

I just got back from WDW yesterday, and the lovebugs showed up a few days ago, but they really weren't that bad. A few here and there, but really didn't notice too many of them. Hopefully this means they will be sparse this year for everyone else going!!!! :thumbsup2

When I was at brookfield zoo outside of chicago last summer(or the summer before whichever was the BIG year) they were everywhere!!. My wifes grandma had to shovel them off her driveway in Villa Park. There were places that they were several inches deep on the sidewalks and streets. They are WAY freakier than lovebugs.

I hadn't heard of lovebugs, so I had to look 'em up.

Ew... but at least they don't bite or sting (which was my big concern). When I was a kid we used to go camping where they had mosquitos large enough to carry off cats, these I can live with.

Are there swarms of them when they come around or they are just there and are big and freak people out?

That must be why everyone in Florida has those big screen things around their pool area.

We were there in late Sept 2006; they really WERE everywhere. I remember taking the ferry from the TTC to MK one day and they were all over every surface. I haven't seen them in any real numbers since (saw one set this past May), but we'll be there next week, and hopefully it will be better than it was in 2006. At least the car will be a rental- no need to worry about its paint job.

Ive been here at the Beach Club since Saturday and havent even noticed them. I was also here in 2006 when they were horrible!

LOL, yes, that's one reason why.
Another is mosquitos.
Another is trying to clean leaves out of your pool in 98 degree weather.
Another is to avoid having your pool reach 90 degrees or more in July and August. Like swimming in bathwater.

:)

Pool screens are more for keeping out mosquitos which can be horrible around dusk. Not to mention watersnakes, cell phone sized beetles, mole crickets, grasshoppers so big they appear to have facial expressions, etc.

Do you have to brush your pearly whites after riding Big Thunder Moutain Railroad?
