8 Days!
And if you think I'm giddy, you should see my hubby.

He is ready to leave. Now. It's all he can talk about at home.

(I'm lovin it.)
I get started early, day dreaming, planning, changing plans, but I don't get "bouncing off the walls excited" until I get home from work on that last day.
DH doesn't get involved in the early planning, acts like he's just "eh" about the whole thing, until the last couple weeks, then it's real. We've hit that point where the trip is looming on the horizon and he's like a little kid.
He sat down and actually listened to some of my "planning" for the park days.
As I mentioned before I'm trying to be a little looser with our plans this time around, but I still think it's important to use those critical rope drop hours for the highlights, and to do rides in the "right" order. (On our last trip, I let Matt overrule me at DHS one day, taking us to ToT and RnRC first, rather than TSMM.

It was not good. We never even got on TSMM that day. Gotta do the slower loading top picks FIRST, not LAST, especially when the ride is fairly new...)
He was happy with everything I had worked out, until I got to the Disney-to-Universal transfer day. It finally dawned on him that we will be getting to the park way too late for early entry due to the resort transition. He didn't like this a bit. lol.

He LOVES the low crowds after rope drop (his crowd aversion is why we are avoiding MK on this trip, that park drives him crazy. lol)
So, we are making a minor adjustment to our plans. Matt now wants to pick up our Universal tickets earlier in the trip so we can cut that step out on transfer day. Obviously, it would be hard to do that without the kids knowing, so we'll probably surprise them early, at Disney, rather than on the road "heading home."
Since that's the case, I may go ahead and print out the "Hogwarts Letters" I created in Word a while ago. I tried to duplicate the print, ink, and style of the letter Harry receives in the first book. Except, instead of a supplies list, it includes a list of things they can look for or purchase in the WWoHP, like a snack, a drink, a wand, etc... I can give them their lanyards then also. Possibly a little corny for two teens, but it works for me.
I still don't think we'll make it to the park during early entry, it really depends on how long it takes us to break down the tent and get everything back in the car. Even if we take down part of the equipment the night before, we'd have to get up pretty early to accomplish all of that. Then, we've got to check in at RPR in order to get our express passes, then walk/boat over to the park. I'll be shocked if we get it all done and still make it to Universal for an 8 a.m. rope drop, let alone 7 a.m. early entry.

But, hey, we can give it a shot if he wants to.
While discussing the rides, etc., Matt let me know that he may use the "chicken exit" on a few more rides this year. The older he gets, the more the sensory-type rides get to him. He, Emily, and I all get motion sickness to some degree, but his seems to be getting worse. And he typically ends up with a migrane-strength headache to go with it. So, he said, not to worry, he'll just hang out with us in the lines, then detour to the exit when we get to the ride. And not to worry, he'll have fun just being there, with us. (He knows me well, sometimes I try
too hard to please everyone and end up annoying everyone instead.

It's a family trait. lol.)
My only other planning "change" came as quite a surprise. The last time I checked park hours was a month or six weeks ago. I thought that was pretty accurate for the summer hours, and never checked it again. But Universal's hours changed. At that point, their park hours were 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with early entry at 8 a.m.
Well, now they are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 a.m. early entry. Wow!!! Lots more hours to enjoy the parks. I'm really glad. That means we can have a nice long midday swim when it's hot out, and then enjoy the parks late!

It also means we'll have the extra time needed to pool hop to the other resorts if the kids are interested. RPR has a nice kids play area, but no slide. The other two resorts have slides, and their own unique theme, so we may want to check them out. Now, I feel like we can manage that, and not cut into our park time.
I was also surprised to see that their nightly show at USF was at 9:45 p.m.,
after park closing. I still can't quite get that straight, it seems odd to have a show 45 minutes after closing, but hey, who am I to complain about another hour to roam the park??
I'm pretty happy with these changes. Yes, it means we'll probably miss early entry and rope drop on our first day at Universal, but we can more than make up the time by focusing on express rides that day, then hitting early entry to enjoy WWoHP and Minion Mayhem (another new attraction that doesn't have express) on our last two days.
My only remaining concern now is the weather. My sister's trip to Orlando last week was pretty overcast and rainy. She said they had rain (most of the day) for 5 of their 7-day trip.

And now I read talk of tropical storms on the Dis.

I really hope not. I can handle the afternoon thundershowers, but heavy rain, all day, every day! Or worse, a tropical storm! YIKES!
Of course, Matt's Mr. Mellow. He says, eh, if it's more rain than we can handle, we'll see if Disney will let us upgrade to a value. If not, we'll just pack up and get a hotel room.

Okay, I'm glad he's all calm about it, but if I drag half my house all the way to Orlando to camp, I'm going to be mildly annoyed if we end up in a hotel.

Not to mention this is supposed to be a budget trip. Paying for a campsite and a hotel for the same nights is not budget.

So, please pray for lovely weather July 19-28!!! I'd greatly appreciate it!!!
