They Don't Eat Hash Browns in Princessland - May 14 COMPLETE! 2/8 pg. 73

Totally with you on that one Danielle. No way I would wait that long for a character meet regardless of how rare it was. It's times like that where my "reality" brain kicks in that I would be waiting 2+ hours to meet some dressed up college students. 20 minutes? I'm meeting Meg and Hades. 2 Hours... college students. That's how I justify not waiting anyway. :)

Such a totally Disney thing. If someone came up on the street asking to take your photo, the first instinct is "I NEED AN ADULT, I NEED AN ADULT!!" In Disney, OF COURSE you do it.

Oh my YES!!! Jungle Cruise is hugely better at night.

Wow, what a day. I will do a 24 hour day at some point and I WILL do the 24 hours. That is my new goal in life.

I am TOTALLY with you on waiting for characters. I waited an hour and a half for Anna and Elsa and I would never do it again. You could be doing so many other fun things with that time. Now that Disney knows how popular the villains are between this and the event at DHS, maybe they'll figure out how to manage meets better…

Franklin's brilliant. Enough said.

AWWW that is so adorable that a little girl came up to you. The reactions of other guests are just awesome.

HAHAHA so many times I've started eating and realized I haven't taken a picture, so I have to artfully rearrange my plate for a pic. It's the DISer code, I think.

Toms are really tough for long periods of walking. I'm impressed you made it that far.

Go you lasting until 3am. I would have packed it in with Mom and Pops or even before.

Thanks for sharing Franklin's pics, they were great but lacking in Popadon ; ) Yes I'm smitten.

Oh and a cream cheese pretzel, would so totally kill for one of those right now. We always get one and sneak it on the Pooper (aka People Mover) and enjoy a bite while we ride.

My initial response is that I would NEVER wait multiple hours to meet any character... but then I remembered that I have made some incredibly poor waiting decisions on some trips, so I should never say never. :rotfl2:

I do applaud your decision to nope the heck outta that line, no matter how neat it would be to meet Meg (and Hades, I guess. But mostly Meg.)

Strong work staying as late as you did!!

I'm still jealous of your sleeping beauty dress. Why didn't I order it when I saw it,

:yay: you got a picture with Kathryn.

Great parade pictures.

And awesome pictures on the Mine Ride.

I LOVE the picture on Aladdin with all the Genies. :goodvibes

I am amazed how long you lasted. I know I couldn't do it.

It sounds like you had a blast with your friends.

Everyone, thank you for the wonderful compliments! :goodvibes

Danielle, thanks for letting us spend time with you guys! We had a blast, even though it was sweltering hot throughout night. We didn't last too much longer after you left, Peoplemover, Carousel of Progress, then a few photos.

Franklin and Missy got a regular pretzel. Franklin totally ripped off an ear and then got yelled at by Missy because he didn't take a picture of it before tearing the ear. So he put it back together and took the picture.

Missy did point out to him though that I would clearly call him out on it on my trip report, because I witnessed the food tearing.

Yes, yes I did. :cool2:

You just had to do it. :lmao: I guess my photo is too clear to deny it.

Apparently, I forget to take food photos on the first day of every trip. I guess I need to work up to it.

Loved your recap of the 24 hour party.

2 hours in line for a villain meet and greet? I'm with you, no way. I know people did that at the Villains Unleashed Party at DHS, and I just couldn't believe it. That's precious Disney time, people!

The Jungle Cruise is a completely different experience at night. Several MK rides are, actually. I guess that's what makes them so great.

Wow, that 24 hour party really was crazy. I cannot believe how quickly that one villain line filled up. Too bad you didn't get to meet any, at least you weren't upset though. I feel like Meg and Hades at least would've been worth it :thumbsup2

Wow, Franklin's photos are awesome! I feel like I am just that much closer to how the atmosphere actually was in the kingdom. :goodvibes

YAY for Magic Carpets and Jungle Cruise! Definitely two of the best rides to do at night. Love the on-ride selfies. The goodberness is just perfect.

Mmmm, the Cream Cheese Pretzel and the regular Pretzel both look equally delicious. I need to try them both.

Haha, I totally would've done the same thing down Main Street if an awesome DJ was playing. Well... almost awesome. Yeah, same feeling on the playing of 'Baby'. I'm still waiting for the day when the United States deports him to Canada on an island where he can never be found... at the least.

Glad to hear overall the party was a great success! Cannot wait to hear how the rest of the trip went! :mickeyjum

I am having a hard time with 2 of your reports going at the same time. Wait...Danielle has blonde hair now, not red...oh yeah.....this is the other report. Doesn't take much to confuse me.

Sounds like you all were having a fabulous time. Franklin really does take a nice crisp photo.

Sorry the shoe choice wasn't the best.

I know, it can get confusing sometimes! Truthfully, I think my life will always be me running two reports at the same time! :lmao:

Franklin takes great photos. It was very awesome of him to send them to me to use on our shared part of my TR.

Wow, those villains lines were crazy!

I love Jungle Cruise at night too. I like a lot of things better at night, actually.

I can't believe the Lunching Pad was open at 3am. I remember trying to get a cream cheese pretzel multiple times during what you would think of as normal operating hours and it was never open! :sad2: Thankfully, we finally did catch the place open one day (with a long line) and got our pretzel. Yummy.

Nice job staying until 3am! :thumbsup2

I just could not justify waiting in those lines. I think that the event is a lot of fun, but the meeting the villains component just ends up being crazy.

Jungle Cruise at night is just a lot more fun I think. I'm with you, there are a lot of attractions that I like better at night also. :thumbsup2

There was a lot open at 3am amazingly enough, but I think it was mainly due to the fact that they were expecting high crowds. That stinks that the Lunching Pad is always closed when you try to get something there! Someday.

I love this picture! A special shout out to Franklin for taking such awesome pics and letting you post them. Just gorgeous! :thumbsup2

Ugh - My feet actually hurt in sympathy for your mom. When my plantar fasciitis was kicking in a few years ago I literally had to leave Epcot one night because I couldn't walk anymore. So I know the feeling too well.

And look at you for making it a full 24 hours. You pretty much rock. I have never been in the MK that late. I think it would be fun, but I doubt if I could make it. I should see what I can do in June!

Cool mine train pics! Love it!

Excellent update! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It was so nice of him to let share them with me!

It was a long day, and also coupled with the fact that the 24 hour day came at the end of our trip, I think it was just a lot of the trip catching up with her. I had something similar happen to me on a trip several years ago, my feet hurt so bad I felt like I couldn't go anymore. It was a wake up call that I was unhealthy and needed to lose weight honestly.

I was proud that I made it that late! If they ever have a 2am or 3am EMH day, you should try it. And then sleep in the next day. :lmao:

It's pretty insane that they started the meets so late considering how many people were lined up hours beforehand!

So many amazing photos courtesy of Franklin!

I'm glad your costumes were such a hit :thumbsup2

The sweet cream cheese pretzel is seriously one of my favorite snacks ever, I could totally eat one for breakfast right about now :rotfl:

You seriously were a trooper for lasting so long! I think you definitely had the right approach in just enjoying the night and getting what you could done.

Their idea was to have heroes during the day, and then in the evening it switched over to the villains. I think that starting the villains meets at 2am though was just a little late. That was only a 4 hour window to meet them, and several of them had their lines already full by 12am!

I love the sweet cream cheese pretzel! I don't get it often, because there are a lot of snacks I like, but it's always a good treat.

My plan was just to have a good time. I knew I couldn't stay until 6am, even if I wanted to, because we had to move resorts the next day. I really didn't want to be back to my room by 7am, to have to wake up and be out by 11am.

Awesome 24 hr day! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It was so much fun!

Yep Danielle will at random times just bust out dancing. I have been there to witness it on numerous occasions.:dance3::dance3:

Truth. :lmao: And who knows why on earth I choose to do it when I do.

Love the Picture from Franklin too.

I was not wearing the best shoes that day. Lesson learned for next time :thumbsup2

Yeah, that's one of my favorites ones.

We both learned our lesson, because my Toms weren't ideal either.

Can't believe the craziness of the lines to meet the villans! Yep. No thank you indeed.

Franklin got some great pictures, especially the last one!

:rotfl2: Not even kidding, I do that same Dumb and Dumber dance to DH every time I say an unsuccessful joke :lmao: I mean, i'm not going to stand there and look dumb after a joke isn't funny, so I may as well make up for it and do the Lloyd Christmas dance :dancer:

Right?! It was just a big no for me.

OMG, we need to do that dance together! I have no idea why I choose to do it when I do, it's completely random. Or when there's like a lengthy awkward silence, I do it, because I figure I need to fill the silence. :lmao:

Totally with you on that one Danielle. No way I would wait that long for a character meet regardless of how rare it was. It's times like that where my "reality" brain kicks in that I would be waiting 2+ hours to meet some dressed up college students. 20 minutes? I'm meeting Meg and Hades. 2 Hours... college students. Oh my YES!!! Jungle Cruise is hugely better at night.

Wow, what a day. I will do a 24 hour day at some point and I WILL do the 24 hours. That is my new goal in life.

For real though. And you're totally right. Wait 2+ hours to see a college student. :lmao: Meeting Meg and Hades would have been totally amazing, but it just wasn't in the cards.

Hahahaha, it is such a Disney thing! I live in Chicago, if someone came up to me and wanted to take my picture here, I would run the other direction AS FAST AS I CAN!

I would have been more willing to stay until 6am, if I didn't have to switch resorts the next day. That was really the issue with me not staying.

Toms are really tough for long periods of walking. I'm impressed you made it that far.

I generally wouldn't really wait that long for much. It's just too long for me. There are only a few things that I've waited that long for, and I just don't deem a character meet and greet to be worth it.

He really is.

I will take a picture of food that's already eaten, I have no shame.

They aren't made for long distances, you're right. I wore them in Italy when we went, and I didn't have any huge issues with them, but apparently Disney ground is different from Italian ground.

I think I did a pretty good job hanging in there. :rotfl2:

They were definitely lacking in Popadon, mostly because Popadon had packed it in and turned into a pumpkin at that point. :lmao:

Good idea sneaking the pretzel on the pooper (People Mover)! I may have to do that sometime.

I think we've all made poor waiting decisions before. I know I have. :lmao: They haunt me and thereby prevent me from doing that at other points in time.

Meg was the main reason I would have hung out. And I thought about it and thought about it for a little while, but ultimately my reasonable side won out.

I'm still jealous of your sleeping beauty dress. Why didn't I order it when I saw it,

Awww, I know, you should have ordered it! It hasn't been available in quite some time. It's still one of my favorites ever.

Franklin certainly took some great pictures that night, and I was fortunate enough that he allowed me to use them.

I was amazed at how long I lasted too! I'm normally an early riser early to bed Disney person, but this time I was both!

Apparently, I forget to take food photos on the first day of every trip. I guess I need to work up to it.

We had so much fun spending time with you guys! We definitely need to make sure that we overlap again at some point.

I did have to do it. And you're right, the photo is too clear to deny it, because you can see the tear if you're paying attention. :lmao:

I'm all about taking food photos early in the trip, and then as it progresses, I forget. :rotfl2:

Loved your recap of the 24 hour party.

Thanks! We had such a good time.

Yup, over 2 hours in line. At that point, it would have meant we would have waited 3 hours, because we showed up around 11pm. Just insanity.

Wow, that 24 hour party really was crazy. I cannot believe how quickly that one villain line filled up. Too bad you didn't get to meet any, at least you weren't upset though. I feel like Meg and Hades at least would've been worth it :thumbsup2

I would have liked to meet some, but the lines were just too much. I just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere of the night.

Wow, Franklin's photos are awesome! I feel like I am just that much closer to how the atmosphere actually was in the kingdom. :goodvibes

His pictures are amazing. You're absolutely right, they just put you right there in the midst of everything.

I'm already a big enough goober, but as the night set in, the delirium started, because I had been up for so long at that point.

Both are amazing, but the cream cheese is the winner for me. So amazing.

:mickeyjum

Right?! Adding to the humor of the situation is that I was very clearly by myself and just dancing. I'm sure that tons of people thought I had lost my mind. They just don't know me. :lmao:

OMG, yes, please deport him to Canada, I can't handle him anymore.

Oh my god frootloop dingus. I had totally forgotten about that.

Thanks again for the pics.

I didn't end up buying a magicband accessory.

You should be proud of yourself sticking it out that long.

Franklin has some awesome skillz with that camera. :thumbsup2

I can imagine that once you stopped moving you would be falling asleep so :lmao: on that one.

Oh my god frootloop dingus. I had totally forgotten about that.

Hahaha, oh Zach Attack. You were so entertaining to watch. :rotfl2:

You should be proud of yourself sticking it out that long.

I can imagine that once you stopped moving you would be falling asleep so :lmao: on that one.

I was pretty happy that I lasted that long. I'm not a 24 hour kind of girl, but I stuck it out pretty well.

He really does have some amazing skills with the camera. I love seeing his pictures.

That is exactly what it felt like. When I got on the bus and wasn't standing anymore, then the lights went out. It was next to impossible for me to stay up.

Hi guys! I was hoping to finish this TR before I left, but if I can't do that, I'm going to try to at least hammer out a MEGA UPDATE before I go. We only have 1 1/2 days left.

Saturday May 24, 2014

We didn't have a ton of plans on this day. I had made our FP+ reservations for the evening, because we knew we had to move hotels for one night, on top of the fact that we had just been at the 24 hour party. I didn't get into bed until 4am!

I ended up waking up around 9am, and I headed down to the Boardwalk Bakery first thing to grab us some breakfast eats. Mom and Pop still had a bit of packing to do, so I left them to that. I had packed the bulk of my stuff the day before, so I was in good shape. Plus, we didn't have to do a great packing job, because we weren't leaving until Sunday, so it was just good enough to get from one place to another.

I got a breakfast sandwich for Momma and I to split. It was really good in case anyone is curious. We all know how seriously I take my food.

A chocolate croissant for Momma and I to split too. This is one of my favorite Disney treats.

S.O.S for Pop. Or biscuits and gravy. But in the Army, which my Pop served in, they call it S.O.S. Hahaha. Anyone know what it means? I'm curious.

It's poop on a shingle. But replace poop with a word I won't type on the DIS. :lmao:

Do not ask me why they call it that, and I'm sure that this version tasted far superior to what he used to eat in the military.

Also, I had forgotten to take a picture of the lovely gift Caitlin and her family had gotten us. This is an amazing hot fudge that's from Michigan. We got three little ones, and let me tell you, this stuff is incredible!

Soon, it was time for us to leave, so we called Bell Services to come up and help us with our luggage and called ahead for Valet to pull our car around. Pop was completely impressed with the bell services CM that loaded our car. He was legit man! Pop said that he was in awe of his loading skills. He was his packing hero! The CM was so funny, he told Pop it really wasn't anything at all, and that the trick is treating it like a puzzle. The exchange between the two of them was pretty funny.

After the car was loaded, we were on our way to our resort. Where were we staying for our final night?

Someplace that they only recently added to DVC to allow exchange, so we paid for this one night out of pocket.

Art of Animation!

Pop stayed in the parking lot while Mom and I headed in to check in. I have no idea why he did that, sometimes he's a weirdo.

But we still love him.

There was a lot of people in the resort checking in, but we weren't in line for too long. We had a great CM when we checked in. He chatted with us about what we'd done on the trip already, because we told him we were moving resorts. Then, he says, "I have a little pixie dust for you. Your room is ready!" We were grateful for that, as we are the kind of people that like to get settled in with everything right away.

Before we headed to the car, I had to take some more pictures.

We headed out to the car after that to tell Pop where the room was, and we started to drive over. We did end up bringing in all of the luggage, because we hadn't done a good packing job for the trip home the next day.

As soon as we walked in the room, I had to yell the obligatory DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!!

I have to say, these rooms are absolutely adorable!

Can we talk about the shower curtain, and how I am obsessed with it? Seriously, I need to have this shower curtain in my life. And I literally freaked out when I saw in the shop that they sold it! And then I saw the price tag. $150? Nope, it just wasn't meant to be on that trip.

And then the tile detail in the shower. So absolutely perfect.

Pop got himself nice and comfortable while we did a little bit of rearranging and unpacking.

We unpacked and relaxed for a little while. The 24 hour day man. It takes it out of you! Soon though, we were heading out of the room to get something to eat and then off to Hollywood Studios. But first, a little exploration was in order.

Continued in next post:

Continued from previous post:

Since I didn't know when I would be back to see more of the resort, I wanted to take our time walking to the main building for something to eat, so I could get some good pictures of the whole area. So get ready for some picture overload!

This was the view from our building when we came out.

"Oh Eric. This is all so....so sudden."

Then we moved on to the Lion King section.

After exploring for a while (plus, it was still insanely hot outside), we headed into the main building to go get something to eat at Landscapes of Flavor. One of the things I was looking forward to here was the variety of food that they have. The food court was pretty busy, but we didn't wait for too long in line. We all selected to order from the window that had tandoori and naan. I love that kind of food.

My lunch was tandoori fix (tilapia), with rice, cauliflower (that's the stuff with the red sauce) and naan. It was all really good.

Mom ordered the tandoori chicken.

And Pop got the beef.

Again, I really liked the variety that they had at the restaurant. It was all really yummy, and I'm glad that they're branching out from the normal food court options.

I also got the brownie with pretty much EVERYTHING POSSIBLE put on top of it. You think I'm kidding?

It was okay. Truthfully, there are far better desserts out there, so it was meh for me.

After we ate, it was time for us to go to DHS. We still had a good amount of time before our FP's, but we figured we would head over and just wander around. We could take that opportunity to head back into Darth's Mall again. The bus came pretty quickly, and then we were on our way. In retrospect, I wish we had done more with Star Wars Weekends, but you live and you learn. And then also book a trip that's focused on SWW for next year. :rolleyes1

We arrived at the park quickly, because of the location of Art of Animation to DHS. We headed in after that, and decided to take some photo pass pictures. Take note of my awesome Darth Vader leggings. I would come to regret that outfit decision soon.

And because I was the daughter, the PP photographer thought it would be appropriate for Mom and Pop to give me a kiss.

Awwww, aren't we sweet.

They were doing the show up front, with Han frozen in carbonite. Poor Han. Seriously, that was always my favorite part of Return of the Jedi, when Leia frees him, and then when he's in the cell with Chewie and he pets his head. It cracks me up. Star Wars nerd alert!

Continued from previous post:

So we started to head over to Darth's Mall at that point. There were a few things that I wanted to take a look at and decide if I was going to by them. Mainly some pieces from Her Universe that I had thought about. And, on top of that, my leggings were killing me at that point! They're lightweight, don't get me wrong, but it was 90 degrees and I couldn't take it anymore. I felt like they were stuck to me. I was really hoping to get a dress or something. Otherwise I wasn't going to last much longer.

We headed over there and grabbed a few pieces. I normally survey my spending at the end of the trip and decide if I have any money left, and on this trip I did, so of course I was going to go back. So we go in, I pick my stuff up, and my Momma buys them for me! She's so awesome. I'll show you the purchases at the end of the update.

I did end up buying an R2D2 skirt, and as soon as we left Darth's Mall, I headed into the bathroom and changed into it. I couldn't take it anymore. I also just took off my t-shirt and kept my tank top on. It was that hot.

After that, our window for our FP+ had opened, so we headed over to our destination.

Awwwww yeah.

What did my skirt look like? Awesome if I say so myself.

Soon we were loading on the ride.

And I was beating my ride partner.

Toy Story is still and will always be one of my favorites. The competitive person in me just thrives on it!

As we headed out of the ride, I saw a whole bunch of baby ducks in the bushes. Goodness sake, I basically just squeed while I was standing there. I LOVE DUCKS!

Then they apparently decided that I was a bit of stranger danger, so they moved away.

Ugh, I can't even right now!

We moved on to the Great Movie Ride after that. I'm actually kind of excited for a bit of an update on this. Although I wish they would update the actual ride and not just then ending montage, but I'll take anything I can get.

And what, dear friends, happened on this trip.

The elusive cowboy. That's what happened.

I think it's been like at least a decade since I got the cowboy.

FIRE!

Listen, I'm going to tell you a secret about the Cowboy.

The ride still ends the same.

Boom. I just blew your mind.

After our ride through the movies, with a movie montage (because a montage makes everything better), I decided that I wanted to meet a galactic Princess.

We are having such a serious conversation here. Apparently she said something SUPER funny.

She friend of Leia was so nice! She was very welcoming and really just spent time with each person that met her.

She really enjoyed Mom and Dad's shirts. Yes, Mom and I share shirts sometimes. LOL.

Although, I'm not entirely sure what's going on with Pop's sneer here. Apparently he didn't want to meet a galactic princess.

After our galactic princess meet, it was time for us to have another space race.

Apparently, I didn't write down what happened on Star Tours, but knowing my luck, it was probably a pod race. It's always a stinking pod race.

After this, I did something unheard of.

I went back to Darth's Mall. I know, I know! Mom and I kept talking about the one dress that I didn't get, and I knew that if I didn't get it now, I would regret it forever!

So we went back. Pop was like "I'm out!" at this point, and simply set up shop on a bench.

I made quick work. I literally ran in, grabbed the dress, and ran out. I didn't want to be tempted to spend anymore money.

On our way out of the store and heading over to our next FP+, I ran into Kathryn! She was wandering around DHS on her own, and we chatted with each other for a little while about our purchases, and our trip. She was heading back soon too. She used to be a college program liaison at her college, but her term was coming to an end, so she was going to start missing out on all of the awesome CM discounts that she received because of being a liaison. We talked about RunDisney, which she also participates in. We won't be seeing each other at the Princess Half though, because she elected to do the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon in Disneyland instead. She is such a sweet person, and I'm so glad that I got to run into her one last time before our trip was over. We parted ways after that, since our FP+ time was fast approaching.

I mean, who could resist? We figured we'd drop in.

Ba dum bum. I'm here all night folks.

Mom sat this one out, because she's not a huge fan of Tower of Terror. She'll do it once a trip and then that's it.
