They Call Me MISTER PIG- He Said, She Said (9/1 Lights, Thunder, Fantasmic? Page 47)

I loooooooooooved the installment. You both are so funny. This is fun:thumbsup2

My teenage daughter Courtney is not allergic to bees but deathly afraid. She hates all bugs. The other day I found out that she had been sun tanning on the roof of our two story house:scared1: . She was doing this right next to the dormer where I know for a fact that dh saw a wasp nest:scared1: If one of those wasps would have come out of the nest she would have fell off the roof trying to get away.

When she was little she wanted her bike in the shed. I told her she had to wait for daddy to come home from work. I told her I was scared of the wasps in the shed. She said, " Moma, don't be scared wasp-ez don't bite they just lick:lmao: :rotfl2: Now I wonder where she learned to be afraid of bees and wasps.

On a two story house! :scared1: Oh I would have been so freaked! My daughter totally gets the bee fear from me, but unlike me wont die because of a sting- she just thinks she will.

This is so much fun! :cheer2: You guys so totally rock this TR! :cool1: I hope that the yucky smells in your room didn't bring you down for too long! I hate yucky smells! Hope you have a great weekend and find some time to write more! :)

I cannot stand moldy smells and thats what this was. I refused to let The Cat even touch anything I was so not a happy camper.

-Becca-

EWWW....Moldy smell! I hope things turn out all right, but I have a feeling that El Cheapo hotel will be brought up to HE throughout the rest of your trip. lol. Definitely enjoying this hilarious TR and loved the Jane Austen reference! If you really want to torment HE make him watch "The Jane Austen Book Club". :thumbsup2 Can't wait for more of your TR!

~Beka~

I am pretty good about not harping (Don't let He tell you any different!) It just was not a magical way to start the trip. Jane Austen Book Club? Hehe if it will torture him than I might have to check it out!

The Great Food Fight of ‘08

She Said- So we headed toward Downtown Disney per my brilliant plan. The only good thing about El Cheapo was the location. Sure it had all the trappings of a strip on Myrtle Beach (not a good thing) but it was just a few minutes from Disney, after trapping The Cat in the car for so long she was thrilled to see this:

tr1.jpg

So was I. I don’t know why but I could feel my stress just start to melt away. The plan was to grab a bite to eat and just start soaking in the Disney feeling. I had debated about booking a TS and paying OOP but since we had the DxDDP starting the next day we decided against it. (Actually He decided against it) Still it was nice not to have to be anywhere at a certain time. Coming in we saw these cool guys and had to get a picture:

tr2.jpg

Everyone was hungry (read: grouchy- or grumpy, grumpy is more of a Disney thing) so we headed straight for The Earl of Sandwich. It’s cute inside, nothing fancy of course. I ordered the meatball, we ordered a grilled cheese for The Cat and I have no clue what He ordered. All I remember is mine was the best! I win! Also He tends to vacuum all of his food up in record time. So it took a bit of hand slapping to nap this pic:

tr4.jpg

He Said – I honestly don’t remember what sandwich I had. Or what it tasted like. Back to her…

I am not kidding about the food inhaling thing. I remember two Thanksgivings ago while everyone was still passing around the food, having just sat down, that he suddenly asked for second helping of everything. That’s right! He finished his entire plate full of food before everyone had even put food on their plates.

He Said – A few conditions there. Everyone was being slow, and there was only a small bit of food on my plate. I think.

Anyway The Cat was not as thrilled as I was. No, The Cat was not happy at all. She was sulking, looking stubbornly at her grilled cheese. I can understand it wasn’t what she was used to but that was no reason to look at it like it had just decapitated her Barbie.

He Said – Shortly after this, I wish I had decapitated a Barbie. Make that fifty Barbies.

Now for a little lesson- Class please pull out your books and turn to Chapter Three: The Pickiest Eaters Alive. Here you will see a picture of The Cat. Notice the foods that she will not consume- anything with tomatoes, any meat or fish, anything that she has not eaten before or that she has eaten before but has since forgotten about it. Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen that is my lovely daughter.

He Said – This is where she takes that pretty mask off. This stuff aggravates me more than anything imaginable. More than slow drivers. More than telemarketers. More than those atomic wedgies I had become so accustomed to growing up.

At home it tends not to be such a problem. We load her up on veggies, which she loves, and basically doesn’t fight it. But we knew that we just couldn’t have her turning her nose up at every new food at Disney or she would never eat. Thus began the crying. Yes we were that corner both with the sobbing and freaking out six year-old. I apologize if you were near us. We decided that we weren’t going to let her leave the table until she had eaten at least 3 big bites.

He Said – I wouldn’t have complained if we left with the sandwich caught halfway down her windpipe. I mean that lovingly.

Well she would cry and then start to and the choke and gag and freak out. It was wearing on my already raw nerves. I finally just couldn’t take it anymore. I had to get away! Seriously this was not helping my Disney Happiness Bubble! So He being kind hearted and sweet, sent me to go walk around and shop for a few minutes before I exploded all over everyone. I browsed and looked at the pin shop for awhile before I calmed down and returned. They were still sitting there and she hadn’t eaten but He had her calmed down as he explained to her that Disney was a privilege for “big kids” and that she had responsibilities that went with that. (Thank God she never asked then why did we see so many babies at Disney…)

He Said – By the way, shame on you for taking infants to Disney! That’s not only a waste of money and effort, but its cruel. I didn’t see one happy infant at Disney. Not one.

I decided it was my turn to take over. So I sat down with her and in my totally evil voice (the calm and deadly one) told her to open her mouth. She did after a quick fuss. And in went a bite. I would not let her freak or gag. And then went in another, and another, and even another. She swallowed each one down with huge gulps of water but in they went. I told her that this Would. Not. Happen. Again. She apologized and hugged me. We went to call He and she apologized once to him over the phone and then again in person.

He Said – I imagined a big scoreboard. Us 1 | The Cat 0. We win!

With the great food fight of ’08 behind us we were determined to have some fun, to put back together my Disney Happiness Bubble. So we went shopping and let The Cat play with the Legos and of course took pictures.

We then decided it was time for a treat. Actually I decided and God knows The Cat didn’t earn it but I surely did and it was my vacation too, darn it! We headed to Ghirardelli, where I could not take He into sharing a Sundae with me. He didn’t care about all the rave reviews. He just wanted ice cream. Eye roll. I totally shouldn’t let him make his own choices. Oh well I found these bad boys and they were SO good:

tr8.jpg

And a pic of He and The Cat with their ice cream. Notice that they both have it all over:

It was starting to get late, and we all needed the rest so we decided to call it a day.

He Said – One final thought on Downtown Disney… Stitch spits on children. I wish I could do that and get away with it.

I'm first again:cool1: I, once again enjoyed the update. Thank you very much. I have a child that would do battles at the table when she was little. I once spent two hours trying to get her to eat a bite of red beans and rice. I won and she did take a bite after two hours, of course she threw up all over the floor after:scared1:

Great installment...I'm really enjoying your report! I think we need to introduce my ds to your dd...they would be great company at the dinner table. ;)

Oh I feel your pain! At the age of four we decided that we were going to break this picky eating streak. Twice we decided that she would eat what we made or not eat at all and twice that child ended up in the hospital from dehydration after refusing the food and even water for two days :scared1: After the second time I just gave up. I mean I had Child Services visiting me at the hospital because they thought we weren't feeding her

Nowadays we always make only one meal, but at said meal there are at least two veggies. And Cat LOVES Veggies :confused3 Strange I know but true. So we normally don't force the issue but man I have to give it up to that child's willpower.

LOL I am glad I am not the ONLY one. I was sorta nervous about telling that part of the story. I can only imagine all the people in there that thought we were trying to kill her.

This TR is so enjoyable! You guys are doing a great job.

I can sympathize with the whole not eating food thing. Our rule when the kids were little they had to have a little of everything we were serving on their plates and they had to try at least one bite if they didn't like it then they didn't have to eat it but they have to at least take one bite. If they refused to eat it then they could not have a snack at 7:00pm ( that was deemed snack time in our house ) After a few battles this worked like a charm. So when ever they would not eat we would then have this elaborate snack at snack time ( like ice cream with all kinds of goodies on it, I know I am a crule mother! ) Well it didn't take to long for them to gobble everything up on there plate. They are now 12 and 15 and they are very healthy eaters they love all kinds of fruit and veggies ect.. And they still to this day wait until 7:00pm to have a snack! We really must have drilled that into them. And most of the time what they do have for snacks are veggies and dip or they make a small salad! ( I know weird! :sad2: ) I would be all over the cake and cookies or ice cream! :rotfl:

That's a great idea. I am going to try that when the baby gets a little older. Thanks for the tip.

I am so loving this TR. You guys are hilarious!! I can see how your DD would not want to eat a grilled cheese that doesn't look like a NORMAL one. I wonder if you could request plain old Wonder bread for a sandwich there? Luckliy, when my son was that age, he ate anything. But, that's great that she eats veggies. Can't wait for the next installment.

Another great installment! :thumbsup2 I keep on realizing how fortunate I am to have children who will eat anything and everything! popcorn:: Oh well, I guess it is all part of our life as parents! Keep up the great job on this TR! You have already built up a fan club! Please don't keep us waiting for too long! :worship:

Great trip report! :thumbsup2 I am enjoying it very much! I thought the whole part about your DD being such a picky eater was funny.:lmao: Trust me, I know the feeling, totally embarassed :sad2: that your children would act like that in a public place but, refusing to give in because you just have to put your foot down some times. (even in disney!) My DD can be picky at times too. She's 10 now and even still we have to threaten her to finish. :sad1: Sad I know but, at least she doesn't gag any more (as much)! It does get better though, at least it did for her! Waiting for your next installment!

I cannot wait to hear more myself! I really am enjoying the he/she said format...very creative! :surfweb:

Great Trip report so far! We had one of those kind of kids too. If I ever finish my report, you will hear about a whiny crying 11 yo- yes I said 11 :scared1: who refused to eat at a Disney restaurant. I feel your pain.

I'm enjoying your he said/she said style of writing.:thumbsup2
I think a lot of people can relate to Mr. Pig with the price of gas:scared1:
We have a picky eatin' girl here too........years ago I tried to do the Seinfeld's wife thing and hide veggies in spaghetti sauce.....etc.........but now she is old enough so that when she doesn't like what DH and I are having she makes her own but it has to have more than one food group:rotfl2:

Great update! We don't have kids yet, but I feel for you with the hysterical kid in the corner! Hopefully she gets a little adventurous with food on this trip. Can't wait for the next installation!
