These Kids Make Me Wish You Could Curse on the DISBoards (May '11 Trip) - DONE 9/14

I was very glad that the kidney stone passed as quickly as it did!! I had told the Dr's in the ER that I needed the express treatment because we were leaving for Disney on Wednesday. They did a great job!
Just wait until everyone hears what happened to me later in the trip - when Jon tells me I am injury-prone, he is not kidding!!

so glad you got rid of your kidney stone before your trip! i've had them twice, and the last time was hospitalized 3 days for it. big time no fun..not to mention painful. aww...who am i kidding? i was stoned on morphine the whole time. :rotfl:

Great update, you had a very productive day at AK. That's great you saw so many characters and not common ones too. Boma is on my list of places I want to try. Beautiful pics of CSR, it is a really pretty resort.

gotta get ready for work. Love the pix. be back later with comments!

Fantastic and hilarious updates, as usual. :thumbsup2

On my list of things to worry about, I can't believe I've been missing long distance tiger urination all this time! Thanks for enlightening us! :upsidedow

Emily is just too cute dunking her hair in that fountain. And her hair still looks perfect in later pictures! :cutie:

Weird about the woman and her straw...:sad2:

Glad you have found the resort for you in CSR! :cloud9:

Looking forward to more!!!

Awesome AK day. I love the pictures on Kali and I am surprised you were brave enough to leave your camera out that long.

Oh - and just to make you cringe - I wear a poncho on Kali, too! :rotfl: The hair and wet diaper phobia again.

OK - what else? I saw the pix this morning, but now I'm reading the commentary.

Oh yeah - I remember the guy who taunted the tigers at the Phila zoo and got mauled, but I never heard the peeing tiger story. Nice!

Boma is really good. I haven't been there for awhile. Hmmmm- maybe December. I'm plotting my ADRs now.

Glad you are sold on your CSR choice. I do love AKL though. It's the music. I find it so peaceful.

No poncho for me on Kali, but I did tie a plastic walmart bag around one of my feet. Worked so well I have to remember to bring two next trip. :thumbsup2 My feet would be miserable if I wore something other than shoes and socks for the amount of walking I do at WDW and bringing sandals just for Kali didn't seem worth it. :confused3 I know plenty of people get away with flip flops all day, but that would absolutely kill me.

I always hear at least one person complaining about the straws at AK or AKL. Is it really that big of a deal not to have a plastic straw?!! Wowwww!! :sad2:

I'm not one for walking around all day with wet clothes but I don't think I could wear a poncho a la MEK :rotfl2: Kali is just way too short. I swear it used to be longer...;)

Mmmm Boma...one of my favorite spots for breakfast or dinner. I adore the AKL...actually preferring to stay at Kidani (quieter) than Jambo. Love the music, location, decor, CM's, campfire, animals, smells, (not animal smells...can't smell them...the fires and food in the lobby ;)) Happy that you found your home at CSR....love going back to a resort and truly feeling at home in your surroundings :goodvibes

Oh and Jiminy Cricket?!!! I am jealous!! :rolleyes1

And since I'm cheating on CSR in September with AKL for a few nights before going "home" to CSR, I'll have to let you know how it is.

Definitely! Since you recommended CSR to us, your opinion is very valuable!

Great update, you had a very productive day at AK.

The only thing we missed that we had considered seeing was It's Tough to be a Bug, but that's no big loss. Every time we've seen that, one of the kids was terrified, so we're in no rush to go back!

On my list of things to worry about, I can't believe I've been missing long distance tiger urination all this time! Thanks for enlightening us! :upsidedow

Were it not for the guy in front of me, I would've gotten hit. See, it doesn't pay to push your way to the front :)

I love the pictures on Kali and I am surprised you were brave enough to leave your camera out that long.

There were a lot of great shots I could've taken on that ride, but the fear of wave taking out our camera prevented it. I would be a lot less brave if I had your camera, too!

I know plenty of people get away with flip flops all day, but that would absolutely kill me.

My Keens will catch up with me, as you'll read in the next update :)

I always hear at least one person complaining about the straws at AK or AKL. Is it really that big of a deal not to have a plastic straw?!! Wowwww!! :sad2:

Some people just don't like being told you can't do something. I swear, if you told some of these people that they're not allowed to climb into the tiger enclosure, they would question you on why not.

I'm not one for walking around all day with wet clothes but I don't think I could wear a poncho a la MEK :rotfl2:

I wonder what the point of riding Kali is if you are not looking to get wet. Splash Mountain I can understand, but not this. It's like if we had put a poncho on Emily before she climbed into that fountain :)

We may do AKL one day. I certainly won't rule it out entirely.

I'm thinking I won't be able to start the Day 5 updates tonight, since we're finally going to see Pirates, and I have to work when I get home :( Hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks to all for the compliments! It certainly makes it much easier to become inspired to write this thing!

Enjoy Pirates pirate: I thought it was great :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
My niece and I even bought OPI On Stranger Tides nail polish and wore it when we went. Yes. We. Are. Dorks. ;)

I just told Kristin about the nail polish :)

I KNOW I won't be able to get the Lonely Island/Michael Bolton "Jack Sparrow" song from Saturday Night Live out of my head tonight...

Cool pictures with all those characters! I think it's more fun to stumble onto the characters unexpectedly rather than staking out the exact time and place they are supposed to be out.

Dinner at Boma looks great! I can't wait to try it. :thumbsup2

It's been a few years since I've seen Clifford, but I can report that to a bunch of college students at 2 AM, it's still pretty funny.

Our group of friends that went to see Pirates dressedas pirates! When one runs with reenactors that is what happens.

One thing I can say about bats is, "they don't wear underwear." But they should.

Well I had to look and I think you're right!:rotfl2:

I've stayed at POR, POFQ and CSR. I agree CSR is our favorite thus far (may be trying AKL by renting points next year) with a split stay at CSR.

Boma is my family's favorite restaurant. Our tradition is to see the 4:45 Nemo show then got to AKL. I like Boma because it has different dishes than a typical Disney buffet and everyone can still find something they like (including my picky son who eats pasta there--whatever) and we leave happy!

Loved reading about your AK day and seeing all the animal pics! :thumbsup2

Lol at Emily getting drenched! I'm glad you enjoyed Rafiki's planet watch and Boma as these are both things on our list.

RPW is very interesting if you talk to the CMs. I wonder if that was where Lilly was born, and if so, if guests got to witness it?

Definitely! Kristin and I get like little kids when that happens. We had some more later in the week as well.

What would be really funny would be to dress up like pirates, but then but tickets to see something completely different.

There's definitely something for everyone that, and we'll probably go back at some point. I don't think it's an every year thing, but we still really enjoyed it!

The bats are...well. Yeah.

I won't be able to update on Saturday, so I'll try to get some out either tonight or tomorrow (or both!). Thanks for following!

Great end of the day at AK, dinner at BOMA and love the evening photos of CSR. (Made a note to myself to remove the round pillows from kids' vision when in room.) Hope you enjoyed Pirates; we have not seen it yet, but we have the nail polish. Look forward to hearing about day 4.

Lovin' this TR! It is making me wish we were back in the world right now!

Love the writing style. Well done! :goodvibes

Our power was out for 12 hours last night, which means that, for once, I have a good excuse for not having done an update :)

I'll post at least the beginning of our Day 5 experience tonight, with hopefully more on Sunday.

Evidently, the animals are brought in every evening. EVERY evening. That seems like a big project to be doing daily, though it makes sense why they do it. As Krisin points out, you would have just gotten all of them out, and it would be time to put them back.

I live streamed a movie about this from Netflix and in true Disney magic style they have trained each kind of animal to return to their shelter in response to a different noise. The gardeners then come out and work their magic. I've never been to WDW but I wonder if this is something you can witness, maybe from those fancy savannah rooms

I'm really enjoying your report. Your days seem so relaxed - going from one attraction to another. But then when you sum it up at the end of the day, it really is impressive what all you got done.
I've ridden Kali only once - and that one time I got absolutely drenched. We decided that would be our last ride of the evening. So if we got wet, no big deal, we were going back to the room. We were going up the hill and the boy beside me said you're sitting where you'll get really wet. His mom said don't tell her and spoil it. I told her don't worry, I don't mind. Well, I got soaked. It was like someone held a 55 gallon garbage can above my head and just let it pour out all at once!
Gorillas make me kind of nervous. Without getting into the evolution debate -- they seem too close for comfort. Some of their mannerisms are very human. Know what I mean?
