Tas- DH and I went in July for our honeymoon and it was scorching!!!! I will never go back in the summer again. And yes the smell, I remember the smell very well. We went to Indiana Jones in DHS and sat behind someone that had either forgotten their deodorant or it had worn off L-O-N-G ago. It was awful!

We were ther for our honeymoon as well. Scorching does describe it! HOT HOT HOT!!!!
And lines and lines or Brazilian and Argentinian Student Groups all dressed alike and budding in line. The #1 reason Jason won't do the summer again. He was not impressed. A little common curtesy people!!!!!!
It may have nothing to do with their nationalities...just a bunch of rude teenagers in large groups perhaps.

I've found that a lot of people from other country's just have a different sense of common courtesy. Damn them! I've found some Europeans, for example, to be extra pushy. I think I read once that folks don't queue up like we do in an orderly line. Instead, they all sort of stand en masse in a big blob o' lineage.

I think I do have the power to nix a trip in July. So we can avoid that level of heat. Thing is that my family is from Louisiana so we are already somewhat used to the scorching heat + humidity factor. We often go back to Lousiana in June (doing that this year in fact) and are alright so long as we stay hydrated.

I'm thinking I can do the beginning of June weather wise. However, the lines are what are going to get me. I'll miss my May lines :( And we'll have to be much more organized and strict with our planning.

Still..ugh..*whine* I wanna go in May!

Well just remember MAY can be HOT too. Yes, May 2007 was perfect. Sunny and mid 80's. :cloud9: May 2009, not so much. :sad2: Same week and it was 92-95 each day. And the humidity was horrible.

Just look at what happened this month down there. Record highs up until last Friday when it finally started to cool down. Those poor people who waited out the summer to go when it was "cooler" in October and they had temps nearing 100.

So FL weather can be very unpredictable!

But yes, the lines are probably going to be longer in June than May. But as long as you know that going in and plan ahead you will be fine. You can do it! :goodvibes:thumbsup2

Tas - I bought the Star Wars in Concert tickets today!!! So thank you for telling me about it, I am now nearly $200 poorer! :rotfl:

No, seriously, THANKS - the kids are going to be thrilled. We are keeping it a surprise though, not telling them until we go that day!!! :cool1:

No problem at all :) I really do hope that they have an incredible time.

The surprise bit is going to make it even better!

I think I may be soon as well.
It is playing in Detroit right before Pittsburgh... Ethan may be getting a little surprise from us. :)

Suit up kids, this is going to be a long one.:goodvibes

I'm so excited for you all! I can't wait to hear all about him! I mean the game...I can't wait to hear all about the game!
Oooh- I can't wait to see him... Er, the game. I can't wait for the game.

I decided I shouldn't leave all that out there on the boards. I can't believe you saw it that fast!
Call me stealth. Hope all is well and it doesn't freak you DD out or send her sideways with school.

Good morning MAYers!

Turned on the computer and is says 46 degrees here and 64 in Orlando! That sounds like a perfect morning at WDW to me!!

Hey JO - Good luck, I'm sure you'll get a super code/deal soon! pixiedust:If nothing else I bet the 4/3 will be extended. Which is an okay deal, but was much better with a $200 gift card.

Sounds like a perfectly perfect Fall morning at WDW! I loved getting up early when it was cool to walk around POR. It is a beautiful resort in the early morning.
I hope I get a code soon. I still haven't booked and need to desparately.

oh, and PD for the PC for Jo!
Thanks KB! Hope all is well with you. Have you heard anything about the possible job opportunity?

Jo - So cute of Drew. He must really be excited.

.....

Just Emmy and I at home today... we played a little Wii this morning, did some tidying up...and I see homemade cookies in our near future.
Drew said this morning he doesn't know if he can stand waiting. awww.

I'd like some cookies too, please. How is Emmy? Back to being a Princess? Soemtimes we all just have to lay it all out there, ya know.:goodvibes

Hi Mayers! Hope everyone had a good last few days.

Just got back from a mini-trip to Arizona to see my parents and an aunt & uncle. We had a pretty good time. Eliska thoroughly enjoyed herself. But then again, what isn't there to enjoy about 5 days of 24/7 spoiling :)

It also sounds like my Maycation for 2011 may have to become a Junvoyage instead. My mom may want to take my nephew and nieces along for the ride. We'll have to wait for them to be out of school which usually is the end of May/beginning for June. Downside is that we won't be going in May and we'll probably have to pay for Eliska since she'll actually be 3 at the time instead of 2 turning 3. Upside is it will be fun to have my nephew and nieces there. I just know they'd have a blast.

Have any of you gone in June before? I'm wondering what it will be like besides hotter than May.
Ooh- what part of AZ were you in? My Dad was from Tucson. I want to go out there so bad to take the kids one summer.
I LOVE the name "Junvoyage".:goodvibes:goodvibes I'd want to go then just so I could say it into a trip report, LOL.
Remember that it will be crowded the first week of June with Gaydays. Also- a lot of schools will be getting out. Ooh- and heat. yes, heat. "I'm mel--ting. Mel---ting.":rotfl:

LOL - the "smell lines". :lmao:
Hi Sea! No smellies from me!

Poppin in to say hi at naptime. I was a good Cinderella and got my chores done first- mopping, dishes, laundry....when is my prince charming coming to rescue me???:faint:

Trixie- sorry your day had a rough start and hope all the drama is over soon.

Jo- if it makes you feel any better, all the pin codes I get are for FL residents. I've never resided in FL and MD is nowhere near FL  Sometimes I wonder about their organization. Sending some pixiedust: for you!

Hi Cinderella.:rotfl: Could you scrub my floors? Please?
:) Hummmm..... FL resident PC being sent to MD. weird. I don't get it.

Ugh..you are making me think of the smelly arm pit hair tankitos. I hate arm pit hair and to have it coupled with a tank top + rank smell just sends me into fits.
EWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Thanks for the visual.

Florida--- plan for heat-- be pleasantly surprised when it's cold.

Whew. Long one. All caught up now with my MAY peeps.

Hair is done. Went to Target and spent $80 on junk for the trip. How is that possible??? We're only gone for 3 nights!?!

Gotta get the kids.

Jo

We were in Heber (national forest/mountain area of AZ) for most of the time there and in Phoenix for a day and a half. We have family that lives there. My parents flew in from Texas to see us as well. It's a good halfway point between Texas and Seattle.

I'll have to remember to use Junvoyage in pre-planning and trip reports when the time comes if I do go in June.

I didn't even think about Gaydays. Is that when it usually takes place at WDW? Hrm...the crowds, the crowds, the crowds... Well I have well over a year to obsess about what dates we are going to go. I probably won't formally nail down anything until the middle of this May. Then I can plan another Disneyland trip and WDW and give myself a good fix of pixie dust.

Gay Days in Orlando is June 1-7, 2010. It will be very crowded.

I would assume it would be around the same time in 2011. Guess that rules out that time of year then :( I was thinking we could go right when the kids were out of school during the first week of June and hit a Star Wars weekend while we were there. So much for that thinking! Of course, probably any time in June is going to be crowdrific so I suppose it really wouldn't matter.

Gaydays in 2011 are May 31-June 6. They are expecting over 135,000 people to attend in 2010. So yeah, LOTS of people.

Hey- could someone throw me soem PD for a pin code? Everyone's getting all kinds of pins for 40% off deluxes Mar- May and I haven't gotten one. Wah, wah, wah. I want one. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed one.:rotfl: I've ordered the maps, DVD's, savedc vacations on the wdw website. Nada.
I guess Disney doesn't want our moolah next year. B/c if I don't get a good code--- I ain't going and that's that.;)

I got one of those! Oh Jo, if I could give it to you I would! I wonder if it helps to book a trip and then cancel it??? That's the only thing I've done that you haven't. It's worth a shot. :confused3

my friends and I were just talking about it...

some want me to go the friday it opens..and others the tuesday after...hehe... I may go both times.

Come join me Trixie!!! :)

I knew I should have gotten my passport ordered this summer! :headache: Who knew I would need it for something so important? :lmao:

Morning MAYers!

What's up today?

Looks like I will be getting a new ticker. Probably going to go to Walmart and the grocery store. And soccer tonight. I know, such an exciting life!

Looks like it is going to be a pleasant day here at 70 and sunny.:goodvibes And it looks like the WDW temps are heading back into the mid to upper 80's this week. :scared:

Okay, back from shopping. And it's dead in here!!! What is going on MAYers???

JO - you need to give up that internet boycott and start posting more. Seriously, the MAYers are suffering, my PTR is suffering!!!! We need some action around here!!!

Oh, now you have deprogram little Eliska from her spoiling by the GPs. Here's a hug, your gonna need it.

Uh, I just got back from the gym. I resemble that remark. :rolleyes1

Did I ever tell you guys I was at WDW during gay days? It was back in 92 I think. :upsidedow

I need a passport too!!

Well thankfully, I think we have it nipped in the bud right now. She's often too busy playing and running around in circles to notice that there isn't someone there to dote on her every whim :)

Appearing like that after the gym is one thing...at the parks on the other hand :)

Ooooo do tell!

I need a passport too!!

We finally got ours early this year so that we could go to Whistler, BC. It was definitely way, way overdue. The process was pretty simple. I highly recommend getting one even if you don't have international travel planned in the immediate future.

I need to get one for my son as well. He has an opportunity to go out of the country with school this, although I think he is not going.

Well, being young at the time, and having rarely been out of the state of Arkansas, not to mention out of my small town. It was a little shocking to see the PDA. Nothing terrible just some hand holding, hugging, and a few little kisses. For me at the time it was eye popping... Now it would be nothing. I had just never been exposed to that before, I was a very naive small town girl.

That being said, I think the way Gay Days are normally set is that the group attends a certain park each day. Like Tuesday would be Animal Kingdom Day, Wednesday would be Epcot day, etc.

When we were there we just hopped to a different park and avoided the crowd. (Just like we do for vacations, now, we try to attend the least crowded park. Like avoiding MGM on a Fantasmic night.)

Now, I would imagine that attendance would be much higher now, than it was in 1992.

Don't you think it would be?

Don't you think it would be?

Oh most definitely! I believe this year is the 10th anniversary of Gay Days too (I did a little research!) so attendance this year should be HUGE.

It's a good thing to know about the planned parks thing. That could make those dates I was considering still plausible. We just pick a different park for that day to avoid the extra crowds.
