These are NOT the rooms that I paid for! 3 Resorts in 10 days - Trivia Answers 9/3

I think it's been 12 years since I've been on Maelstrom! Epcot's World Showcase has been extremely neglected by our family in recent years. Anyway, love how you hopped over to Epcot with a singular mission! ;) And thought it was cool that the CM offered to take a picture of you two on the boat - I mean how often does an attraction CM take a picture? :thumbsup2

On our next trip, I'm hoping to make time for a short solo tour of Epcot with my camera after the kids go to bed on a night when they have evening EMH until 11pm and maybe a little after closing time to enjoy an empty park!

We love the Maelstorm and even get fast passes for it. A must do for us !! But we always run through the theater because that movie is just a snoozer. I really love the seats in the theater though. The backs are so cool.

Hahahha! I still think it's so funny (and NOT embarrassing) that my random Titanic reference made you have this revelation! :rotfl: I'm glad you were finally able to find it for yourself!

Crescent Lake is so gorgeous! It's pretty any time of the day, but something about the way it lights up at night is just amazing.

Sounds like it was another wonderful day!

Too funny about falling asleep in the sunroom in your palace and not even knowing the mousekeeper was there. :rotfl2: Oh the trials and tribulations of having a suite! :rotfl2:

So, is Em trying to take our Bo at the knees?

Speaking of Bo - thanks for posting your various Bo shots! Always nice to have a collection of photos with your main man!

PTC - so much fun.

Yachtsman - looks yummy. I have not eaten there yet. It's the only signature I have missed. I need to change that.

Great Maelstrom pictures. I have never taken pics on that ride.

Oh - and you ladies both look absolutely lovely at dinner. I love Em's dress - very cute and she looks so grown up.

I can't believe you never knew that the boat on Maelstrom almost goes outside. My kids, when they were "kids", used to be fascinated by that.

A lovely end to your day. I love the sand at the Disney resorts...it is so soft and I love walking through it.

Nicole! My little bride to be! You are seriously at less than a month now??

I can give you Ricardo's email information and schedule if you want to PM me. What a lovely meal for your parents! Thank you for the kind comment.

Have I asked you if you plan to do a DR or TR yet? At least share some photos of your big day? I'm so happy for you!

Awwww thank you, so sweet!! We are 21 days away from Disney and 27 away from our wedding! I am so ready and excited, I can't wait!
I would love his email info, that would be great. I will pm you!
I really do want to do a TR, I figured I would just put in some dining pics and mini reviews along with it! I need to give myself a crash course in photobucketing and link posting! :rotfl:

I love Maelstrom, such a frumpy ride lol! I have not been on it since I was really young so I didn't know it almost went outside either! I will be on the look out as well!

Love the photos of the walk back to Yatch club, so pretty! :goodvibes

Haha I will have to keep my eyes open to see if we’re kicking around in any of the backgrounds!! Aw man, I didn’t know they had kids portions of things, I think it’s so much nicer to be able to have those options at meals because the portions are so huge in Disney!!

AH! Viewfinders are so cool, they didn’t have those in Sept, sad I missed them! UGH! Walt’s Disneyland speech while eating lunch would not be good for me, I would turn into a blubbering mess!

Oh yum! Yachtsman looks absolutely delicious! I have so many more dining places I want to try!! World Showcase is so pretty at night, love the pictures!!

Nice place to eat breakfast.
Great pics as you entered DHS.
The salad at 50’s is really good. I always get the brownie sundae but cannot finish it. Too much.
Vinny loves Judge Judy too. Me not so much. LOL
I love how they did the shrimp cocktail.
Glad the CM helped you out by telling you to get out basically. LOL
I am caught up again.
Great pics.

I have a confession...I've never been on Malestorm!

It is on my list of to do's...hopefully on the next trip.

They do close the IG at some point after the park closes so if you are in there too late you can actually get locked out which would be a mess. Buses are there for 2 hours I think but still. We ran out one night after they made us VERY paranoid after a late dinner at Teppan Edo. We are just sitting there chatting away, last ones in the restaurant and our server finally asks us how we are getting home and alerts us that they do close the IG.

It was kind of funny, and not, at the time. My in laws would not have done well had it really been closed.

Don't feel too bad, we first went on Malestorm in 2012; liked it enough to ride again this year.

Gosh, that is good to know that they actually close the IG earlier than the main entrance. What a bummer it would be to have to walk all the way to the main entrance, get a bus to DTD and then a bus back to your Epcot area resort!

Brenda, hope you get back to having time for continuing your trip report soon; I'm missing my "fix".

I love that photo of the sand between your toes. Wish I was there! And that lobby is so gorgeous. So welcoming at the end of a fabulous day! :goodvibes

Sorry folks...I should have knocked out an update already but my focus has been on others' TR/PTR/DR and not my own. I will have to rectify that shortly. But first, a few comments/replies...

Dave I think your kids may like Malestrom. At least you should drop by during your conference/WDW trip laster this year. The CM was very nice and took several photos but I chose the boat one for here.

We love the Maelstorm and even get fast passes for it. A must do for us !! But we always run through the theater because that movie is just a snoozer. I really love the seats in the theater though. The backs are so cool.

I'm with you Susan, get me a fast pass or I can stand in line but I really need to go on Malestrom. We watched the Norway movie the first few times but after that we just move on....

Ha! Yes, you were the one who inspired the revelation that there was more to the ride than I knew. :rotfl2:

There is lights reflecting on the lake at night are so beautiful.

Great update! :)

Thanks! :)

Yes, Em was pretending to kick Bo! No real violence occured at the park!
It's good to know that Bo is kept company while I am away. The man does have that silly grin on his face like he has a secret or two. ;)

wow! You have done a lot of Signatures! If you add YSH you will be the only person I know that has dined at all of them. Not sure how many there are. :confused3 More than a dozen....

I can't believe you never knew that the boat on Maelstrom almost goes outside. My kids, when they were "kids", used to be fascinated by that.

A lovely end to your day. I love the sand at the Disney resorts...it is so soft and I love walking through it.

Yep. Pretty lame that I never noticed the hole in the wall - even from the outside!

That sand was so lovely and felt heavenly!

Hi Nicole. Glad to help with Ricardo. Hopefully that works out.

If you have any questions or need help uploading photos just ask! there's also a couple threads that give some helpful hints but you should be good as long as you have a photo hosting site for your photos.

Haha I will have to keep my eyes open to see if we’re kicking around in any of the backgrounds!! Aw man, I didn’t know they had kids portions of things, I think it’s so much nicer to be able to have those options at meals because the portions are so huge in Disney!!

I'm looking for you in my photos as well!!

I'm more of a snacker myself.... I actually love the Smucker's PB&J uncrustables that they sell at some of the food courts at the resorts. Mmmm good!

I need to get caught up with your reports .... I haven't forgotten about you.

Nice place to eat breakfast.
Great pics as you entered DHS.

Yes
Thanks!
Yes, the salad is good.
Sorry you don't like old lady judges that yell at people! ;)
yes, kicking us out -what? Is she doing her job or something?

Note: Do you recognize a style there? :lmao:

Cynthia - Youv'e NEVER been on Malestrom? Just in case you are worried... the trolls are really friendly and those Vikings... they behave with the guests even though they have a reputation.

Thanks for sharing that info regarding IG, I didn't know that. It would be a pain to have to take a taxi to BC/YC from Epcot just because we dallied! :crazy2:

I love that photo of the sand between your toes. Wish I was there! And that lobby is so gorgeous. So welcoming at the end of a fabulous day! :goodvibes

Hi Alysa! Ahh yes, the beach was very lovely! I had to make a detour and ick my shoes off and enjoy that sand.

Don't feel too bad, we first went on Malestorm in 2012; liked it enough to ride again this year.

Hi there! :) Oh, yeah, forgot about taking a bus to DTD and then back to teh resort. We left dinner at a monorail resort after they stopped running last summer. We had to take a taxi which was a bummer but we didn't want to go to DTD and then to Contemporary when it was just a mile away. :upsidedow

Awww thanks for continuing to read. In your honor, I will post an update tonight! :)

Tuesday February 26, 2013: Day 4, Part 1

I was up with the sunrise (yeah, I could have used more sleep but I’m not one to sleep past 6:30am) so I was compelled to take photos from the balcony while Em slumbered away.

The weather looked to be a bit wet today:
DSC09912.jpg

I wandered through the suite taking random photos like an unslept bed

Another view of the second bedroom:
DSC09923.jpg

Soaps and shampoos - in the second bedroom they stocked the Spa products:

TV in the sunroom:

I ended up going to the lounge to grab some fruit, a bagel and some oatmeal for breakfast. Breakfast on the balcony was lovely until I started to feel guilty watching all the fit people getting in their morning jog while I was eating once again. I run about 20 miles a week; however, on vacation, I hardly ever lace up my running shoes… I’m not that much of an enthusiast!

DSC09926.jpg

The day before we had stopped by the concierge desk and they gave us a copy of pamphlet that has the various room types and their rack rate. We were trying to figure out how much it would cost to actually pay cash for the room. Not that I would EVER do that but we were curious nonetheless. The Captain's Suite is located on the first floor. The Presidential Suite is on the 5th floor, directly above ours. I recently saw photos on the resort thread of this room which is very similar to the Admiral Suite. (Not sure why it is priced cheaper since you would think the Presidential Suite trumps the Admiral Suite but I'm not sure...)

By the time Em awoke and we got our act together it was nearly 10am before we left the hotel to walk to Epcot. The morning was overcast from earlier rain and the temperatures stayed mild throughout the day. We packed our rain ponchos this day so let’s see if we would need them…..

Tuesday February 26, 2013: Day 4, Part 2

We were headed to Epcot for the day...

Look, our room where those portholes are located:

We entered through the International Gateway and since that part of the park was not open for another hour we were able to get some photos of the topiaries and other sights with minimal guest interference. We spied the Peter Pan topiary on top of the building in England. Hook was across the way…. I mocked his inability to pick his nose with his left hand! Childishness!

While walking towards The Land we passed the new Oz play area and The Land of Oz garden. What a fabulous job Disney did with this.

Our next destination....
DSC00024.jpg

It would be no surprise if I said that an hour and a half after the park opened the stand by wait for Soarin’ was already 70 minutes. No thank you. We debated getting fast passes; however, when factoring in the return window against our ADR for lunch, we didn’t see how we would be able to make it back. Since this is not a must do attraction (D-land wait times are not nearly as long) we moved along. Well, we moved along about 75 feet right to the Sunshine Seasons food court. Em had not bothered getting anything from CL at the hotel so she was ready for some breakfast. While she was getting some blueberry croissant bread pudding I made the mistake of looking at the danishes and pastries in the display case. This apple Danish was calling to me…. I couldn’t resist. Sure wish I had since it was just ok.

Instead of playing in The Land we headed to the Imagination building where Figment welcomed us to the Imagination Institute Open House. Although not a must do ride, it is entertaining up until the point the song chorus loops through by the 3rd time. Eeee – maginaaaa-tion…. Anyone else have that song stuck in their head about now? Post ride fun included playing in ImageWorks and conducting our own virtual figment orchestra.

DSC00075.jpg

Next up, Mission Space, only the Orange experience for us space explorers. Stand-by wait time was listed as 15 minutes but it was less than that before we were debriefing for our mission to Mars. As the pilot for this mission, I successfully engaged the second stage rockets and deployed the shields. I noticed that our space team companions were either unable or unwilling to perform their tasks as we had a system over-ride each time. Perhaps the pressure was too much!!!

Oh wow. Early morning breakfast on THAT balcony looks approximately equal to winning a lottery. :thumbsup2
Also I will never tire of staring at those suite pics. And the whole resort in general really! Just gorgeous.
That Oz play area is so cool!
I couldn't go to The Land and not do Soarin or get FPs! hehe on the other hand, I hope to skip Figment for at least the next 20 years (or until they get rid of the skunk smell! Ugh, I can smell it now just thinking about it! :crazy2: )

I might make that carrot cake cookie recipe this weekend... I have family visiting and it just looks.... Soooo tasty!!

We completely overhauled our trip for October (we are now going in September with my munchkins) and I was trying to talk my husband into 50s PTC but he wanted to go to Cape May Cafe for dinner... I think it will give us a good excuse to go explore the Beach Club and the Boardwalk... I still want to go to though!

Em showing Bo who's boss...hilarious! However I do notice that my kids get jealous when I give others my attention.... ;) Are you telling me that doesn't change?

I love the boat rides in WDW--- at the end of our last trip we were able to successfully ride a boat- Zoey finally got over her fear of the horns they use. Too bad for us it was one of our last days! I really love the pictures.

The yachtsman looks tasty- sadly it is now not one of our ADRs.... We will try one signature with the kids... Wish me luck!

Maelstrom - we were obsessed with this ride when we were young... I remember the first time we rode it at the end where you unload into the village my brother going "the people look so life like..." Ummm pay attention! That's because they are real! :) We love the troll, we got a great photo with my SIL & BIL last trip there- and yes we were wearing Viking hats!!

I love sunrises :) especially at WDW - it must be the balconies... I don't exercise on vacation either- I do 20-25 miles a week plus strength training - yeah the only "running" I'm doing is for a FP! I give people a lot of credit to run on vacation though!

What I love about the imagination pavilion is the jumping water outside, and that it is usually empty. The Oz play area looks so nice, and I love the topiary pictures. Well I am glad to finally have caught up :) I've been a bad DISer lately! I can't wait to read more about your adventures in WDW!

Happy Saturday Wendy! It has been far too long since we've done Soarin' and I'm really missing the redwoods and orange grove piped in smells!

I'm with you for Imagination... and that song gets stuck in my head....argh!

I love to see how they transform the Oz play area each trip into something different. This was the best use of the space that I have seen so far. :thumbsup2

I might make that carrot cake cookie recipe this weekend... I have family visiting and it just looks.... Soooo tasty!!

Let me know if you try this! If Em hadn't had an oatmeal cookie craving this week and still has a big batch of dough yet to bake I would try it this weekend but I will have to wait another week.

A family trip sounds like fun! I just noticed your PTR and subbed! I just don't pay attention sometimes! If you eat dinner at Cape May you HAVE to explore the resort area! It's just so lovely.

Em showing Bo who's boss...hilarious! However I do notice that my kids get jealous when I give others my attention.... ;) Are you telling me that doesn't change?

Ha! Yes, some things don't!

I love the boat rides in WDW--- at the end of our last trip we were able to successfully ride a boat- Zoey finally got over her fear of the horns they use. Too bad for us it was one of our last days! I really love the pictures.

Awwww.... at least next trip you can have more boat rides. Still on my to-do list is to take the ferry boat to MK.

The yachtsman looks tasty- sadly it is now not one of our ADRs.... We will try one signature with the kids... Wish me luck!

I noticed your PTR.... but now...ahhh :sad2:

You must wear the Viking hats with the troll! With braids, yes?

I wish running for me made me look as good as you!! Sounds like we have a similar routine with the running and strength training. Every trip I have brought my running clothes in the hopes that I'll get motivated but yeah.. not so much! It really does look wonderful to run around the Epcot area. Maybe next time!

What I love about the imagination pavilion is the jumping water outside, and that it is usually empty. The Oz play area looks so nice, and I love the topiary pictures. Well I am glad to finally have caught up :) I've been a bad DISer lately! I can't wait to read more about your adventures in WDW!

Hi Sarah! Glad to see you dropping by and caught up!! :goodvibes

I need to join your FB group!! I'm sure we'll find ourselves at WDW in 2014.

Happy Saturday!

So now I know what is in this area of the building. Good to know. Still can't get over that room. Still don't know how you could ever leave. They would have had to carry me out. :rotfl2:

I have gotten to the point where I don't always think Soarin is worth the wait or worth juggling the return time. As much as I love Epcot and the world showcase, the only attraction I really want to see this summer is the test track remodel since it wasn't open in October.

I love that Oz garden. It's very cool. I am assuming its only for F&G. I would love to see it in June.

No, we haven't eaten at Yachtsman yet. I think its because I almost always order some type of fish or seafood when we do a signature. I like steak, but the ratio of seafood to steak in my ordering pattern is like 10:1. There is still plenty of availability for June so I am highly considering it. ;)

Wow. I can't believe how much those rooms cost. I am so glad we bougth into DVC. I just love the Boardwalk area. We are staying at Beach Club in Spetember and I plan on exploring Yacht Club some more.

Eeeee - MAG ination !!! Yes, I am singing that in my head now. :rolleyes1
