These are NOT the rooms that I paid for! 3 Resorts in 10 days - Trivia Answers 9/3

So now I know what is in this area of the building. Good to know. Still can't get over that room. Still don't know how you could ever leave. They would have had to carry me out. :rotfl2:

I have gotten to the point where I don't always think Soarin is worth the wait or worth juggling the return time. As much as I love Epcot and the world showcase, the only attraction I really want to see this summer is the test track remodel since it wasn't open in October.

I love that Oz garden. It's very cool. I am assuming its only for F&G. I would love to see it in June.

No, we haven't eaten at Yachtsman yet. I think its because I almost always order some type of fish or seafood when we do a signature. I like steak, but the ratio of seafood to steak in my ordering pattern is like 10:1. There is still plenty of availability for June so I am highly considering it. ;)

Hi Mary Ellen! I think the Oz garden/play area is for F&G. We left 2 days before it officially began but they unveiled new pieces every day leading up to the opening.

You definitely go with the healthier of the meat vs seafood options. I'm a seafood lover just no fish. All the other creepy crawly sea critters I'll eat. ;)

Wow. I can't believe how much those rooms cost. I am so glad we bougth into DVC. I just love the Boardwalk area. We are staying at Beach Club in Spetember and I plan on exploring Yacht Club some more.

Eeeee - MAG ination !!! Yes, I am singing that in my head now. :rolleyes1

Hi Susan! How awesome that you have the freedom to explore and stay at different resorts with your DVC ownership. I love all the Epcot resorts!

Yikes! Sorry about that song in your head!

Tuesday February 26, 2013: Day 4, Part 3

To recap... we had just landed safely back on Earth after our Mission to Space....Since we were in the vicinity, we decided to check out Universe of Energy with Ellen DeGeneres. I shamefully admit that we had not seen this attraction in our past 5 visits. It was a complete surprise and not at all what I imagined. With a mix of Big Bang meets Jeopardy it was a great way to spend 45 minutes! Ellen is so funny and the perfect “host” for this attraction. Em liked this so much that it wasn’t the only time that we watched Ellen kick Judy Pedersen’s butt.

After a little time travel we were greeted by these fellows...

DSC00163.jpg

When we exited the energy pavilion it had rained but it looked like it was just a warm up for the storm that was imminent.

DSC00167.jpg

We had a 1pm lunch reservation at Teppan Edo which was in about 20 minutes. The fastest way to get there and the only way to stay somewhat dry was to take the boat across the WS lagoon. As we were standing under the awning awaiting the next boat it started to rain. Not just pitter patter rain but rain that was angry and it was after us…. The wind was a co-conspirator since it was blowing the rain side-ways in its best attempt to soak us. Lucky for us we had our hand dandy Disney rain ponchos. One of the few times that Em decided it was a better idea to abandon fashion sense and stay dry.

Once on the boat, I was glad to see that the “captain” waited a few extra minutes since we saw people running towards the dock to make the boat. At least while we were transported to Morocco we were dry.

DSC00178.jpg

Once we got to the dock, OH MY GOSH – it was pouring!! At this point I put my camera away and we just kept moving as quickly as possible to Japan since we were getting lashed with rain. Anything not covered in plastic was wet and even parts that were covered were wet.

It's wet UNDER that Umbrella too!
DSC00181.jpg

Once we made it up the steps into the restaurant they had a hostess welcome us and to hand us towels to dry off. Mind you they were more like facial cloth size but it was a very welcome gesture. We were able to wipe down our rain ponchos as well.

DSC00259.jpg

DSC00183.jpg

We didn’t have long to wait before we were taken to our teppan table and introduced to our table mates which were a couple from Illinois and a couple from Brazil. Everyone was celebrating something except me!! I said that I was just happy to be there and they were so sweet and brought me out a button that said, “happy to be here.” Awesome!

DSC00189.jpg

Mayo was our teppan chef but she was rather like a one-(wo)man-show since she was funny, entertaining, and made us laugh so much during our dining experience. She was perfect!

DSC00209.jpg

And the food wasn’t bad either. Every trip we eat at either Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo – I prefer Teppan Edo.

Em chose the Veggie option
DSC00242.jpg

I went with the chicken and shrimp
DSC00247.jpg

At the end of the meal they brought out celebration desserts. Chocolate ginger cake topped with a flaming candle arrived for Em with a “birthday’ chef’s hat and a Japanese song that sounded nothing like Happy Birthday to you!!! It was cute and so appreciated. They are always so kind and gracious here.

DSC00254.jpg

Although the sun wasn’t out after lunch, at least it wasn’t raining any longer. I had some damp spots on my sleeves and my shoes were still squishy wet. We walked and stopped to pose for more photos.

Errr... Photobucket today is driving me crazy... all photos were re-sized but apparently there's a breakdown in communication somewhere....Errrr. :badpc:

Last August was my first time riding Mission Space. My daughter still isn't tall enough to ride the orange side yet but since she wasn't with us on our Honeymoon we rode it. I liked it but was dealing with some vertigo that week so that ride didn't help me at all. I told my hubby that I'd be willing to try it again this year when we go in June!

Teppan Edo is awesome! We ate there on our honeymoon and loved it so much we made dinner plans to eat there on our trip in June. My DD is a very picky eater and we told her she had to eat there that it was fun. Guess we'll have to see what all happens this trip. But Nanie can get her to eat anything so that's a plus with taking my mom with us!:cool1:

And I have to say that we have never gotten on Ellen's ride at Epcot. We plan on trying to do that this year. Not sure if my DD can sit that long for 45 minutes but it's worth a try.

Sounds like a fun afternoon! I hate rain in Disney, but rain in Disney is better than a sunny day at home!

Sounds like a fun morning in Epcot! I'd love to be able to walk over there through the IG! Amazing.

Glad you enjoyed Universe of Energy! It's a little outdated but it's fun. Lunch at Teppan Edo sounds great too! The rain, not so much, but at least it stopped. By the way, your photos look fine to me! Not too big. :)

I agree, the photos look fine to me too!

I can't remember the last time we ate at Teppen Edo. I have one more dinner to decide but I think if I end up choosing Japan I am leaning towards Tokyo Dining. That whole new found "we like sushi thing". ;)

Bummer about the rain! I sure sympathize after the downpour we were caught in!

The view of the sunrises you had from your balcony must have been absolutely gorgeous in person! Seeing those pictures has gotten me more excited about staying at Beach Club next door for my conference. :thumbsup2

I have yet to have tried Mission Space and while I'm very curious about it, I'm also worried about whether I will be one of those visitors who end up throwing up afterwards considering how dizzy and unsteady I get after Expedition Everest!

What a great meal at Teppan Edo! Love the pose your chef gave for your picture!

Oh, that dreamy room!

How sweet that the hostess had towels! Disney, I love you. I'm hoping we go to edo during our next trip, since I've only been to Germany & Canada. Looks like you had some yummy food. Not to mention a great cook too! So fun, even in the rain.

I love Ellen's Energy Adventure! Hubby and I first discovered our love for it when we just needed 45 minutes of seated air conditioning, but we love the ride now. :thumbsup2
Yikes at the crazy rain storm! Sounds very unpleasant. But how wonderful that the restaurant hostess had towels to dry off, that's really such a nice touch.
LOVE the "Happy to be here" button, that must have been so cute. Glad you had an awesome chef and a great meal, AND that it wasn't raining when you got out! :thumbsup2

Wow...the rack rate for that suite...:eek::eek:

Yeah...I have to say, even without having DL's Soarin nearby, we oftentimes pass it up. It just isn't worth such a long wait, at least in our opinion!

Goodness, so much to catch up on.

Wow that was some amazing detective work with the mousekeeper, lol!

That's such a wonderful story about your server. Love Disney CM's (mostly).

No, I did NOT pick the nose of the troll - Rob, looking at you!

Bahahahahaa OMG I just spit my drink... and you know you did!

Wow those are some pricey rooms. :scared1:

I so agree about the Oz play area. So pretty.

I just went on Figment for the first time in probably 7 years. And yes, it will probably be another 7 years before I go on again. It's cute though.

Phew, FINALLY caught up. Now I need a nap.

Hi Charlotte! Oh my, riding that orange experience definitely wouldn't help vertigo! You are brave to give it another try. :thumbsup2

We've had many kids dine at our table at Teppan Edo and they seemed to enjoy the meal. They give them kid friendly chop sticks too. I think they may even have a kids menu with some more traditional offerings. At least you have a secret weapon with your mom being along! ;)

We finally made it on the ride after 5 WDW trips. We just never really paid attention to it. However, I agree, it is a long attraction.....definitely a great option getting off your feet though. Your DD may like the dino section.

Sounds like a fun afternoon! I hate rain in Disney, but rain in Disney is better than a sunny day at home!

Hi Kylie! You should coin that phrase! "rain in Disney is better than a sunny day at home" I like it. :goodvibes

Hi Marissa! Yes, that short walk through IG is so convenient! :)

You reminded me that when we first saw Ellen's Energy show I thought "how old is this?" It was obviously from the 90s. Jamie Lee Curtis looked so young too. Compare to her current look on the ever present Activia commercials! :p

I agree, the photos look fine to me too!

Hi Vicki! I think there may be a delay from when I size the photos to when they show up in my TR? :confused3 Oh well, I shouldn't stress over that!

Ahhhh with Tokyo Dining you can order sushi too! I think I know your choice. :thumbsup2 Em would prefer if I was a sushi lover but you can't get me to eat cooked fish let alone something that was just dumped from a net! :scared:

The view of the sunrises you had from your balcony must have been absolutely gorgeous in person! Seeing those pictures has gotten me more excited about staying at Beach Club next door for my conference. :thumbsup2

Hi Dave! We've stayed at BC before as well and it was just as lovely. If you get a water view/pool view room you can see the sun rise and lake from your room.

You may want to consider going on the less intense (green) experience for Mission Space. My DH goes on that version since it doesn't spin as much. We did have a kid in our "space craft" last trip reach for the bag. Poor guy didn't end up using it. (Thankfully!) They should rename the orange experience the "green" one since you tend to leave looking that way! :lmao:

Oh, that dreamy room!

Hi Jennifer!! The towels were such a nice touch. I don't recall seeing that at any other WDW restaurant.

Yes, the food was pretty good, but I think I like the gracious service and the atmosphere as much as the food. It has been on our list every trip. Have you eaten at Biergarten or the CS in Germany? That's one country that I have not dined!

I love Ellen's Energy Adventure! Hubby and I first discovered our love for it when we just needed 45 minutes of seated air conditioning, but we love the ride now. :thumbsup2

LOVE the "Happy to be here" button, that must have been so cute. Glad you had an awesome chef and a great meal, AND that it wasn't raining when you got out! :thumbsup2

Hi Wendy! See, the practical meets the entertainment! Seating in the a/c and they give you a show in return!

The button was a nice little touch. Everyone else was celebrating and they didn't want me to be left out! I thought I included a photo of the button they gave me but I must have bailed when by my 3rd attempt to post an update I had to start over! So here it be!

DSC00204.jpg

I hope your arm is ok! :goodvibes

Wow...the rack rate for that suite...:eek::eek:

Yeah...I have to say, even without having DL's Soarin nearby, we oftentimes pass it up. It just isn't worth such a long wait, at least in our opinion!

Hi Sara! Yeah, not sure who would pay for that room?? Well, except Celine Dion apparently. :rolleyes1

I suppose there are two types of people in this world... those willing to wait standby for Soarin' and those that aren't! I love the ride but time is money people!! Well, maybe not, we ARE on vacation right! :rotfl2:

Goodness, so much to catch up on.

Wow that was some amazing detective work with the mousekeeper, lol!

Welcome back Rob!!! I was a proud FB follower of your trip. (Except for my unpround stupid remark at the end but I hope my apology is accepted!)

Yeah, Figment.... done it and now on to other more entertaining attractions! ha!

I'll definitely be bugging you for some photos and highlights of the trip.

Enjoy your Sunday! :goodvibes

Tuesday February 26, 2013: Day 4, Part 4

We walked back to FW, stopping for a few photos along the way.
DSC00279.jpg

Who ARE these people? They keep showing up in my photos! :lmao:
DSC00281.jpg

DSC00284.jpg

Another Peter sighting. I must have been obsessed with him!

DSC00291.jpg

This photo made an appearance on Page 1 but here is where it finds its home!
DSC00295.jpg

And a close up because I'm sure you really want to see our smiling faces better! I should look into photoshopping any fine lines and wrinkles.
DSC00296.jpg

We did some shopping at Mouse Gear so that Em could get some munchies. The CM attending to the candy section was cleaning up the candy “droppings” and I felt so bad for her because she could hardly walk but she had such a great attitude of walking the candy line all day long and cleaning up after people. Side note: I think the candy prices were like $100 per kilo! Perhaps an exaggeration but I offered to ask for extra chocolates from turn-down in lieu of buying this candy but apparently only gummy sharks would satisfy her craving. She is still a little kid in some ways – so cute!!

DSC00297.jpg

DSC00298.jpg

We hadn’t seen the re-designed Test Track yet. The stand-by line was beyond 60 minutes so we hopped in the single rider line. We weren’t worried to be split up and ride separate since it was an attractive alternative to stand-by at that point. We waited about 10 minutes in stand-by before we were placed in the same car – me in front, Em in back. Although we missed the experience of designing our car, it sounds like this is similar to the Sum of all Thrills build-your-own roller coaster at Innoventions.

DSC00302.jpg

I wouldn’t say that I liked this version better than before since it is so different but I certainly appreciate them losing the speed bumps. I will say that I liked the futuristic look to the ride. And of course, who doesn’t love going 58 mph in a slick little car? And for those wondering, it does have a similar feel to Radiator Springs Racers at Disney’s California Adventure.
Our ride photo is funny since it looks like I am grasping the side for dear life. (Love the goofy hair.)

DSC00311.jpg

The dump area is basically the same with the display of Chevy vehicles. I wonder if anyone has ever exited the ride and spontaneously decided that they wanted to purchase a Chevy Avalanche right then. I guess they would be in luck!

DSC00314.jpg

Sounds like this was enough park time for now since it was 4:30pm and we wanted to chill before heading to DTD for dinner. We walked back to YC via International Gateway.

DSC00331.jpg

Yep, another photo of our turret windows!
DSC00332.jpg

While Em went direct to the room, I took some time to go to the mezzanine level (not sure what it’s officially called but it is the second floor balcony area) to take some photos. While the camera was out I took some photos from our balcony of the beautiful views.

I loved that Peter Pan!!! So clever.

I have to admit, Test Track is not a must do for me. I like the visual changes and not having to stand through the old preshow video anymore. I used single rider both times, so I never got to do the full design phase. It's fun I suppose, but doesn't have the wow factor for me as, oh say, Everest... just as an example.

Haha, I do wonder how many cars Chevy moves from this.

Ugh, I remember doing school work on Florida vacations. So depressing.

I felt the same about Test Track. I loved the futuristic feel and all of the colors and lights but it was kind of weird. I didn't like it better but I didn't like it worse. Also, I feel the car design was totally pointless on the single rider and fasptass lines! I didn't even participate in the design process.

Love the pictures of the two of you in front of the Lion King gang! :thumbsup2

I really enjoy shopping at Mouse Gear. Much more than the Emporium in MK which I find to be tooooo long! :lmao:

Chilling in the room... or perhaps she is working on a school assignment.

Or perhaps devouring her gummy sharks? ;)
