Sorry this is kind of long, but I'm confused!

I noticed Monday in the student center there was a table set up for the WDWCP. I talked to the reps and they were really nice. I had loved the idea of being a party of this program since I had heard about it last year. I thought I would go the presentation, decide if it was for me, and if so interview. Well, this is our Greek Week and we have Greek Games this afternoon. This interferes with the presentation. I had decided to miss the games and go anyways.

Then my friend, being the realist she is, points out that I have responsibilities here and I should consider that before getting excited over this. I've been thinking about it the past few days and I'm torn. I really want to do the WDWCP, but I do have a lot going on here. I also know that if I'm not here next semester, not only will I be giving up my positions for Fall 04, but the following year as well due to missing elections. I will also miss registering for classes. I am far enough ahead academically that missing a semester will not put me behind. I have also already decided and signed for where I will be living next year, so there would be the hassle of getting out of it.

I made a list of pros and cons, and even though the cons list is longer, I think the pros mean more to me. I know either way I will be missing out on something. Should I go for it or forget about it? Today is my birthday so I'm hoping that will give me some luck and pixie dust in the interview ;)

Tough decision, Mandy. But it sounds like you might regret it if you don't. Surely just going won't take that much time out of your busy schedule, and it could lead to some great opportunities for your future. Let us know what you decide - we're behind you either way.

Happy Birthday!!

Krista :)

I know I'm a bit biased, but if it's Greek vs Disney, I'd choose Disney all the way.

All pros & cons do not carry equal wieght. Some opportunities come along only once in a lifetime. Once you make your decision, don't fret over it. Think about which will mean more to you 10 yrs from now.

Go to the presentation, do an interview. In a worst case scenario, you do have an opportunity to decline the job once you're offered it.

Also, if you can, fill out the application at www.wdwcollegeprogram.com and print it out to take with you to the interview.

I will be doing the CP in Fall 2004 (found this site when I was searching for info on the CP)

Life is always decisions. Go with your heart. And a very Happy Birthday, Mandy.

Eeks! It was like I was posting under a different name!! LOL! I just decided to look into the WDWCP as well. I didn't know I could go after I graduate in December. My DF said he'd move down there with me for a while and life would be great. The problem is I wanted to try for the nonalumni advanced internship (I was doing some online research) and it's only offered in the fall. That'd be my last semester of college and I can't skip it!!!! I didn't go to the mtg. because it's our greek week too!!! We'll figure it out, right? :)

Good luck during Greek Week!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday!

You're mixing up too many things at once here.

If you don't follow through with the interview today, you will have a much more difficult time if you change your mind tomorrow and decide to pursue the Disney College program. Your opportunity is today -- go for it. 10 years from now you won't remember the Greek Games (whatever that is) but you may regret missing this opportunity.

After the interview you can continue to mull over the decision to participate. Then, when and if you are accepted, you will be ready to answer yes or no. I'm not sure what you are referring to with giving up your position, etc. I'm assuming that is participation in your sorority. Don't they have some kind of allowance for students who do an internship or study abroad? Look at the big picture -- what value might this WDW program add to your future career (or not)? Then make the decision. Don't let current social obligations get confused with real opportunity.

I'm sorry I didn't see your post this morning. Did you go? If so, how did it go?:earsboy:

Hey guys! I decided to go to the presentation. They did interviews directly afterward. I was honestly disappointed in my interview. I didn't get any "Why do you want to work Disney?" or "Why is the WDWCP for you?" questions. I don't think that at the end of my interview he really understood how much I loved Disney. Also, the girl I was interviewing with already works for Radio Disney, so it seemed that most of his attention was focused on her. Oh well, I guess I won't have to worry about my question of whether I should go or not... :( At least I tried it...

Mandy-

I'm glad you went to the interview - you would have always wondered "What if?" if you hadn't. I'm not sure how the process works, but you could always be surpised and get a call from them.

Don't count yourself out yet. If you are involved in campus activities, which it looks like you are - you will have great luck! I was able to interview when I was a jr and I got a position for WDWCP in the summer. I was unable to go because I was elected president of an organization at school, so I had to be at school during the summer. I ended up reinterviewing and I was able to go the spring semester of my senior year. While thr program might be great for you, it just might not be the best time for you know. Only you know when it will be best for you. Maybe it would be easier to go now and come back to school and get back involved. Maybe it would be easier to do what I did and wait until the end. Like I said - do what is best for you - just do it!

HAVE FUN!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

Kelly

Don't count yourself out yet. Even if they don't accept you this time, interview again if they come back to campus. It will show them that you are a true Disney fan.

One question: was it a group interview? You indicated they seemed more interested in the other canditate.

Mandy -

You never know - you just might get that acceptance letter 2-3 weeks from now! And if wasn't meant to be for this Fall, I imagine that the CP recruiters will be on campus again this Fall and you can apply again for the Spring.

phisigprincess: you posted about applying and next semester being your last one. You can actually apply next Fall and go in the Spring, even if you're done with school. As long as you're a current student in good standing at the time of the presenation and interview, then all is good. WDWCP will update their list of of non-alumni Advanced Internships when they know what will be offered for Spring 2005 (some are already listed, but I'm sure many more will be updated. The list you see on the site now is primarily geared towards those applying for Fall 2004)

I'm finishing grad school this summer and am heading down on the Fall program this August!

Good luck!

Glad to hear you got the experience of the interview! If it doesn't happen, you really didn't have your heart set on it. If it does....well get out that pro/con list!

Well I guess I impressed them more than I thought.. because I got accepted! I got my first choice role as well. Now the decision to go or not... My grandmother just passed away yesterday morning and this has been a tough week for the entire family. I need to make my decision soon though. Seeing how excited I was when I opened my packet is making me lean towards yes. Thanks for listening to me ! :D

Hugs for you and your family and congrats about the acceptance. Prayers and good thoughts for you as you get through the next few days and on making your decision.

Melinda

Hugs to you - I'm sorry for your loss :(

Congratulations on the acceptance. I wish I had done it in college. I have friends who did and they had a great time. They didn't have even half the love for Disney that I do, so I know I would have enjoyed it all that much more. It's a great opportunity.

Good luck with your decision.

Tamie
