There's A Snake In My Boot!!!! PTR April 24th-May 1, 2010 (Trip Report Started!!)

AHH! It's been crazy around here!! I finally can update a bit!! I got some more Mickey Mail yesterday!! Our personalized maps came and my Disney Visa rewards card came too!!!:yay: I will post pics later, I have to find the camera....hmm....

On a sad note, I am having some issues with my lower left leg. Last fall I had a stress fracture and the past few weeks I have been having some all over leg pain. I was worried that it's fractured again so I went in to the doc today. She suggested some more therapy but I can't get into this new gal until May! So I am a bit worried about walking around at WDW with this pain, it's not a MAJOR pain, just annoying. So I am awaiting a call back now...:rolleyes1 I am a gym rat so I haven't been able to do too much so I am mostly frustrated with this whole thing!!! BUT, only 38 days until our trip!!:woohoo:

When DH and I went to WDW in 2005, I bought an ornament that was "Happiest Celebration on Earth", and of course in 2007 I forgot to get one that said "Year of a Million Dreams" or just a 2007 dated one. So I have been searching Ebay for one still with no luck, if anyone reading comes across one let me know!!!

Here is my list of souvenirs I hope to obtain this trip:
-2010 Christmas ornament
-Mr. Potato Head parts for the kiddos
-WDW t-shirt for kiddos
-a Mickey picture frame for our traditional 5x7 family pic
-Cherry Sours from Goofy's
-Magnet for my sister (whenever we go on vacation we bring the other one back a magnet)

What are your favorite souvenirs to bring home???

believe it or not we are not big on souvies
but,
I do plan to check out the potato head pieces (if Danny does not grip too much)
a 2010 photo album and 2010 picture frame (I bought the 2009 ones last year)
and a 2010 Mickey

Funny... I was just replying to something on my PTR regarding my souvenir budget being only $300. We don't buy a lot either & $300 is probably high since the kids will have their own Disney gift cards to cover their "gimmees".

We usually end up with a couple t-shirts & stuffed animals. There are probably some pins in the mix (they make good gifts for the neighbors kids who fed the fish) and we always get something for our mothers. DMIL will be with us so we'll only be picking stuff up for my mom. Plus her birthday is in May so we may get something from the F&G Festival. I'm also in the market for a new watch... so we'll see. We'll definitely have a new refrigerator magnet. :thumbsup2 Maybe something for Christmas too... :confused3

Ohhhh boy, don't get me started on souvenirs! I usually bring home all the pointless junk like pins. And now I'm into the vinylmation Mickey figurines. I am going to limit myself to a couple pins (a favorite attraction and maybe one for the year). I was also on the Disney Store website and saw these really cute pjs that I might look for too! They had all sorts of phrases on them of things you can do in WDW like "battle pirates" or "get soaked." SO CUTE!

Hi Beth!
Sorry to hear about your leg - hope it doesn't both you too much during your trip.

Since this is our frist trip, I have no idea what to expect for souvenirs down there! And I have no idea how much I'll spend! I am a huge ornament person and know for sure I want to get a 2010 ornament for WDW. I'm sure I'll pick up a picture frame as well, and any scrapbooking supplies I may find. Really, my scrapbooks are my souvenir so I'll be looking for that kind of stuff.

For the kids, I know we'll probably get them each a t-shirt or 2, maybe a sweatshirt? I'm sure there will be toys they'll want, and we'll budget some money for each of them to spend on toys or whatever they want.

My DH loves mugs and sweatshirts - I can't imagine him coming home without either of those 2 items!

I like the potato head pieces too Connie! I thought it would be the one "toy" DH and I would buy for the kiddos because it would be something they could share easily! I do have to remember to pack the empty potato heads so they can play with it in the resort room!!

We are giving Gabe money(hopefully Disney Dollars, I think I can only get them in WDW though) to spend on whatever he wants. Helen will get some choices too. I know my mom and dad will buy the kids something as well and for my niece and nephews (even though my bro and his wife don't plan on taking those kids to WDW ever!).

That's too funny Sarah! I almost bought those last weekend! I thought they were so cute too! There are a lot of cute PJ's and tops on disneyshopping! I need to get myself one new shirt I have decided, I just haven't zeroed in on the exact one! I will get something for DH too, he just doesn't know it yet:)

I LOVE the ornament idea, I wish I would have remembered on our last trip so that I don't have to be searching Ebay all the time! It's a great tradition! There are so many neat places to shop, I know in DTD they have a Ten Dollar or less store, I will try and steer Gabe in there to help his money last a bit longer. Having Grandma and Grandpa with will help him get more things though...they are "softies" when it comes to the kids!! The scrapbook store is great in DTD as well, I can't remember if I bought anything there last time or not...I was too focused on eating dessert at Ghiradelli's I think:rotfl: I also get antenna toppers too! They are so cute and they have so many different kinds! I only got one last time and I did lose it, DH bought me a new one on Ebay but this time I will probably get 2 or 3 different ones!!

On Sunday I bought Helen one more t-shirt, I found this at Gap on sale for 9.99! It's too cute and I love that it is purple!!

I also found these Mickey clips that I bought at WDW probably 10 years ago! Helen's hair is REALLY fine, but I might be able to clip one of these by her little ponytail or something:goodvibes

On Saturday my personalized maps came in the mail! If you haven't done these you should get them! They are so awesome and I personalized it for Gabe and all the attractions that he will see! Best of all, they were FREE!!!

And my Disney Visa rewards card came in the mail too!!

We are also snack people so I have started to stash snacks and travel items. Nutrigrain and Granola Bars, plastic spoons and forks for Helen (they are the Take-n-Toss kind, so they are nice and small for her) and Sunscreen small enough for our carry-on bags so we can swim right after we check-in!!

I finished assembling the Countdown Calendar, it will start getting used next week!!!!

cute shirt (I love purple, too! I keep buying the little girl I watch purple, lavendar, and yellow clothes...her mom buys pink and brown only just about)...the clippies are too cute, they will be cute in her pony. I used our maps to make our countdown calendar, MK is the big reveal!

Hi Beth!:goodvibes

Catching up! Love your mousekeeping envelopes..so cute!!!:)

Sorry to hear about your leg.:sad2: I hope it's starting to feel better!:thumbsup2

Hmm...favorite souvenirs to bring home? Let's see, t-shirts and stuffed animals for the boys. I usually pick up an ornament, a photo album to hold most of our pictures--the rest I put in a scrapbook or I at least try to.:rolleyes1 We usually get a mug too but I'm not sure if we'll get a new one this year or not?:confused3

YAY! for getting your park maps and Disney reward card!!:woohoo: The t-shirt and Mickey clips are adorable!:)

I LOVE that Belle of the Ball shirt! My DD has an adidas one with a soccer ball (no princesses) that says that and she always laughs and says "Bella" of the ball! :rotfl:

Hi Beth! I just read your entire trip report and now I'm subbing! :thumbsup2:

Hopefully I'll have time to start my own PTR...our trips will overlap a little. We'll be at POR April 28-May 3 for our DD4's first trip!

Can't wait to hear the rest of your plans!
Jen :figment:

I hope you can get your leg to stop being painful. It definitely would not be fun at Disney with all the walking. Yay for 35 days!! :yay:

I think we have the same, if not a very similar ornament from 2005. We get a new ornament every year and that was our choice for 2005. We will definitely be picking up one while we are down there too. :goodvibes:

Hmmm souvies for us this year: I bought some cute plastic cups on our first trip that are finally cracking. I would like to get another set of four of whatever version they have out (if I like them). I also want to get a Mickey pancake/egg mold/cookie cutter. Lastly for me, a 2010 scrapbook album. :rotfl: not too horrible. The family will pick out an ornament. DD--it is her birthday trip so she will get to pick out a few things here and there too.

Those pjs are really cute!!

Adorable shirt for DD! I love  those maps--I was so impressed when we got ours in the mail. I may order another set in July so DD can have a set to look at on the drive and in the hotel without me worrying if she will rip them since I want them for the scrapbook.

hey beth!! sorry I've been MIA...i'm back! i love that purple belle shirt you bought! so cute! And you bought it at GAP?? I didn't know they had Disney shirts! love it! Thanks for sharing your pics of the maps...i ordered mine and I got my email saying they sent it! Isn't it wonderful that they're free?!?! I got my Disney rewards card as well!! Isn't it sooo exciting?! Can't wait to actually use it! Can't wait to hear more updates!! We're almost there!!!

We're not big souvie buyers but the potato head parts were tops on our list in 2008. If you buy the potato, make sure you stuff his insides before putting him in the box (or if you have one already, pack him in your suitcase to save room in the box) But if you only have 1, a second won't hurt so both kids can play at the same time. I'm a lot of help huh! :sad2:

My list is much longer this year since the kids aren't coming with me, gotta bring back presents so they like me again when I return

Oh, and the under $10 store is simply full of stuff you would expect to be under $10, I didn't think there was anything there that was an exceptional good deal but not a bad way to limit the kids spending (as opposed to WOD where they will want the $70 items!)

Hi Beth!
All caught up on your updates! We are finally home from a snowy spring break in New Mexico.

Love your countdown calendar...it is too cute! :thumbsup2

I ordered the customized park maps last year too....I agree..they are great! Even if you don't use them! :rotfl: Ours rode along for the trip but never actually got used.

Yay for the big girl bed and that she is doing great sleeping in it! :yay:
My DD got a big girl bed too but doesnt seem to want to sleep in it ?!? :confused3 We even got her princess sheets and comforter!

Your trip is almost here!! :cheer2:

Cute t-shirt! And I agree, those maps are pretty cool. They're a neat "souvenir" for free!

We got the same maps! It's the first time we've gotten that version. We've gotten the other (brown) version twice before.

That's a great way to use those maps Connie! I thought they were so nice for such a great price:thumbsup2

I just love that purple color too, Helen has one little outfit in that color and she looks so cute in it!:goodvibes

Thanks Angie! My leg is doing okay, I am really babying it and hopefully all the walking won't make it too bad. I won't care though because I will be at Disney:cloud9: and I see the therapist two days after we get back!
Love all your souvenirs!! The last trip I should have just bought a photo album. The scrapbook thing is so much work (i.e. this last one is taking me 3+ years:rolleyes1)

I LOVE that Belle of the Ball shirt! My DD has an adidas one with a soccer ball (no princesses) that says that and she always laughs and says "Bella" of the ball! :rotfl:
Love it Kayce! It's so fun buying clothes for little girls! I can always find something for Helen when I am out and about! It's trickier finding things for Gabe.

Jen :figment:
Hi Jen!!! Thanks for reading and saying "hi"!! Wow, we will be close to eachother! I hope you start a PTR, I would love to read it!!! Have you planned out park days yet?? I know we thought that one evening we will venture over to POR and swim in the pool there for something different! DH and I stayed there in 2005, it's such a pretty resort! We stayed in the mansions and they were really pretty but I really liked the look of the Bayou too!! Let me know if you start that PTR!!:goodvibes

I hope you can get your leg to stop being painful. It definitely would not be fun at Disney with all the walking. Yay for 35 days!! :yay:

I was equally impressed with the maps Stephanie! I think it is such a great little service! My leg is doing okay, I will probably bring two different pairs of tennis shoes and my super comfy flip flops, to change things up a bit, hopefully that and some Advil will take care of it!

I have the Mickey head cutter, it's great! The kids love it when we make Mickey waffles! I need to make some Mickey sugar cookies soon too! LOVE your souvenir list too!!:thumbsup2

Thanks Keala!! Gap has a line called "Junk Food" t-shirts. There are a bunch of Disney, Star Wars, etc... kind of shirts. I think they are kind of pricey but when I saw this one marked down to $9.99, I couldn't resist!! It's so nice to start getting all those things taken care of! Gabe loved "his special maps" and getting the rewards card is great! It's enough for us to be the bulk of our spending/food money!! It's awesome!!! Almost 30 days!!!:yay:

Thanks for the advice Katie! I was planning on bringing two "heads" with for the kids. Thankfully we have two so we can stuff the box more!! Thanks for the info about the $10 under store too, I couldn't remember exactly the types of the things that they had. Last time when we were there it was so crowded I remember not being able to look too much! When DH and I went by ourselves we bought so many more things than when we took Gabe with us!!

Hi Heather!! Sorry your Spring Break was snowy!! I thought the maps were really nice, I may just put them away before we leave, they are nice for at home under supervision!! I think we just got SUPER lucky with Helen and the bed, I don't know what we did but whatever it is, it worked! Don't give up!

Cute t-shirt! And I agree, those maps are pretty cool. They're a neat "souvenir" for free!
Thanks Sarah! I couldn't agree more, FREE is the best kind!!
We got the same maps! It's the first time we've gotten that version. We've gotten the other (brown) version twice before.
Hi Amy! I saw there was two different choices in map styles, I thought this would be fun for Gabe! I like the characters they chose!
