Welcome back, everyone!
We last saw Mickey telling us he’ll see us real soon, as we were walking out of the Magic Kingdom to catch the monorail to the Grand Floridian. When we got off, we had a lot of time, so we were able to walk around and explore the Grand Floridian, which was really fun! It’s very pretty – and has some cool shops, like Basin! We spent pretty much all of our time in there…
We ended up buying a few things, after smelling everything around. I got a bath bomb to put in the whirlpool tub (the best, most giant footbath I ever had later that night), and Lou got a soap to give to his sister. I guess she hasn’t used it yet, and he wants to – but it smells like candy, so he has quite a conundrum – he doesn’t want to smell like candy, he just likes the smell of it.
So after getting our purchases, we decided to go down the stairs to the lobby. I asked him to take a picture of me going down the stairs (I wanted a Scarlet O’Hara-like picture, but without the falling…), so what does he take? This.
He then tried taking one of me from the bottom of the stairs, but it’s blurry. Sigh. Oh well. This is why I have the camera, I guess.
So we headed over to 1900 Park Fare (we got a little lost in the lobby, since they’re doing work, some parts were closed off – although I will say we found out by getting to a dead-end that they have really nice bathrooms…) and waited for our table. It really wasn’t a long wait at all – I asked about the cake, and they had our little receipt for it right there, which was great. I think we were the only ones that night who were getting one, because it was the only slip of paper I saw.
We got our photo taken in front of the mural on the wall, and when they called our name, headed in. After looking around, we didn’t see any characters who were close to our table, so we went up and got food really quick:
Lou’s food, with his strawberry soup, that he said was really good. I think it wasn’t bad… I dunno, I liked the real desserts better:
My food – we both went back up, but I only got pictures of the first plates. They seemed to have this ethnic sort of thing, each part of the buffet was a different country’s cuisine. It was really good, I was able to find plenty that I liked! And each side is different, so you have to walk the whole length.
And then it was time for characters!!!!!
Cinderella came by and checked to see if we were having a good time – we definitely were, and I got a photo with her – props to Lou for the best photos he’s taken - all these character pictures were good!
And yes, by that rear end in the last photo, you can see who’s next: Prince Charming! Or… should I say.. Prince-not-so-Charming? “Why do you say that, Danica?” you’re asking? Well – remember all of your princes? Yeah. I would have taken any of them over this guy.
See? Yeesh!!!!! He told Lou they must stand like gentlemen… complete with holding their stomachs in, I guess? Lou had said before this that he didn’t want a picture with the characters… so thank you for doing it for me! Now I have this hilarious memory documented.
The stepmother came by next, I think – but she didn’t stop for pictures. She just checked to see how everything was going. I think she didn’t want to hang out with teenagers… she was young herself, but maybe thought we were going to be jerks? I dunno… oh well. Definitely in character!
Then the stepsisters came by – they were fun! They were asking about my prince, and how we were liking it, and I said they needed to find one, and… I forget exactly what we talked about. I think I pointed some guy out. Haha. But Anastasia took a nice photo with me, and then I asked if we could do silly faces, and she was like “Of course!”
So here’s the nice one:
And the silly one:
Then Drizella came by, and I got a photo with her too, after talking to her – she asked Lou a few questions, talked to me… I really wish I remember what we talked about, but I was too anxious waiting for the cake to come, and hoping everything would be great… but here’s the picture of us!
Around us, these little be-decked children (who had just come from BBB, I think) were getting free giant birthday cupcakes… and being brats about everything! They were not so princessey. So they were getting their cupcakes, and I was like “ooo, I can beat that…” and then it came out! I was watching for our cake… and then I saw our waitress bringing it. It was sooooo cute!
Now a few (….or so) cake pictures.
It was delicious, and even the flowers were edible! (But I didn’t eat them… we just nibbled a little bit) And I found a Hidden Mickey! I almost ate it, but took a picture first! Definitely worth it, it was sooo good. A woman also came over and said “Congratulations” which was really nice of her.
And then Cinderella and Prince Charming danced – first with each other, and then they picked kids… except Cinderella’s “prince” bailed on her, so she ended up dancing with a little girl, it was cute.
These were taken from my seat, so you have an idea of where we were – we were on the perimeter of the main room, with the buffet to our left.
Jeez, it looks like Prince Charming is smacking her in the last one – I think he was bringing her out of a spin.
So even though we were done, we had yet to get our photos, but I knew they wanted to get our table cleaned and ready for the next people, so we left. But before us, the people at the next table had left – and you know what? Their little princesses had gotten giant plates of desserts, and completely ignored their giant birthday cupcakes. I was shocked. But they had licked the icing, so it wasn’t like we could ask the waitstaff if we could take them, so the food wouldn’t be wasted… but we did steal some of the confetti that was around the plate. Hehehehehe. It was little golden carriages… they’ll look very nice on my scrapbook page about the cake.
So Lou and I left, and I asked as we were leaving about our photos… they were so sorry, and would bring them right out. Lou went outside to the Mary Poppins garden to call his family, and I waited in the desk area for the photos – they finally brought them, so I bought them, since they were pretty nice.
After that, we were supposed to head back to the Magic Kingdom for Extra Magic Hours – but we had finished everything earlier in the day! So we decided to skip that, and go back to Downtown Disney, because Lou wanted to walk around more, and I didn’t remember everything. We went over to the bus stop, and the first bus to come by was the Downtown Disney bus, which was great.
After a short ride, we got off at Downtown Disney, and went shopping! We walked around Tren-D, World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy, Goofy’s Candy Co., the Christmas shop, the Art of Disney, etc, etc. A lot of our shopping for our families was done here… and for ourselves.
We got another Nightmare shirt (I think this one was for me), some Mickey earrings, shirts for his sister and mom, I think his Dad got a shirt too… I can’t tell from the receipts. And we also went to the Art of Disney and he got a statue of Jack, while I ordered a drawing of the Beast from
Beauty and the Beast. I was told I could pick it up tomorrow, so we had to come back tomorrow night, but that was fine… or so I thought.
While we were in the World of Disney, Lou was shopping for his family, so I went out to call my parents. And unbeknownst to me, while I was out there (for a while), Lou picked me out a Baby Zero and had it sent back to the resort!

That was a very nice surprise for the next night – and I needed it. Again, you will see why... the next night was… not a highlight.
Our shopping done, and our arms loaded down with purchases, we caught the bus back to our room, where we unpacked, and realized that tomorrow was our last full day, and we would need to pack tomorrow night. That was pretty sad, but we still had the whole day to get through first! So while he was organizing his gifts and watching some TV, I went and used my bath bomb from Basin – it smelled really good – I definitely will repeat that purchase in the future!
And then it was time for bed, because tomorrow we’re headed back to Epcot! And it’s our anniversary day!
Only two more days to finish up, and then I’m done!!!!! (I’m hoping to have this done by Christmas… that means it only will have taken me 4 months since leaving… yeesh).
Of course, you’ll still have to stick around, so I can show you all the scrapbook pages…
