Hi all! We have booked the Beach Club for August 2015 for two weeks. While we are there my daughter will be 11! Yikes how did that happen?! I have been lurking here for a while. We booked a Garden View room and thanks to your fab tips requested a large balcony and day bed - I know that they can't guarantee thanks to all of your advice! First trip for us as a family of four, ds will be 15 and dd. DH and I travelled in 1998 so lots of changes to be seen! As coming from the U.K. planning will be essential and I am sure that I will have lots and lots of questions!!

Sounds fantastic!!! Two weeks???? Incredible!!!
:-)

We just returned from yet another wonderful vacation to the world. We spent 3 nights at BC in room 2641. When we first checked in, we had a different room which was ready when we arrived at 11am but it had a Juliette balcony overlooking the lagoon and the volleyball court, even though I loved the view, I was hoping for a full balcony which I did request. After going back to the front desk and explaining to them how we would love to have a full balcony rather then the Juliette balcony (if there was a room available of course), we were then switched to room 2641 which had an awesome view of the lagoon/beach and boardwalk. As for our balcony, it was huge and I loved it . Because we were facing the BW, each night we were able to watch the Star Wars fireworks show at DHS and it was awesome, we also were able to watch the high flying fireworks of Illuminations. After our BC stay, we moved over to VWL for 7 nights and let me tell ya, DH and I liked VWL a lot but said it definitely is not BC, that is our home away from home and one that we love to go back to. Catho72, just have to say that I love your live reports, even though we just returned on Monday, I am wanting to go back :). Enjoy your trip....that is awesome about the crowds, we had the same experience with crowd levels as well. The only day that we noticed a ton of people was when we were at DHS on Memorial Day, but I was expecting that to happen :goodvibes. TeenaS, I was looking for you during our stay (we were there from 5/23-5/26), I was hoping to say hi from a friendly DISer. I am sorry that we missed you, hopefully next time we are in that area, our paths will cross :goodvibes.

That sounds like a fantastic trip! So glad you has fun! :-)

So sorry I missed you. I only work Sundays and Mondays but I was in the hospital with kidney stones ... an unexpected "vacation" from work for two weeks. You had one of my favorite rooms!!!! Love the location and the view!! I'm super glad you had a good time and hope to see you in the future.

Teena! So glad you are feeling better! I have heard kidney stones are no joke. Take it easy! :-)

We'll be there too, can't wait!!! It's getting so close, I can't believe it!

We just got back too, we were in room 2629, full balcony facing the inside area where you walk out to the back. We loved it, close to everything and a short walk to the steps. We had to walk down to the beach to see the Star Wars fireworks, they were awesome. We wanted to see them up close but DH was getting a cold and wanted to sleep it off.

Any chance you could post pictures/descriptions of these rooms in the BC View Thread?

If you haven't posted pictures before, there are instructions in the Other Useful Info Post on Page 1 or you can email the pictures to me at beachclubdee at yahoo.

Thanks!!!

Dee, Small change to our YC dates. We are leaving late on Friday, August 15. My original plan was to either stay the first night at a DTD hotel or use the teacher discount at the Dolphin. I thought the "magical" rates didn't start until the 17th. Just found out that we can still get the "magical" rate for the 16th. By the time we added the resort fees, parking and other fees for the Dolphin or DTD hotels there wasn't much of a difference. So we are now at YC August 16-20 and GF August 20-27!

Yay!!! Same dates at YC as me. :)

I just had a question regarding bus service. We are currently booked at WL, but I am thinking of switching to YC/BC. Last year when we were at the YC, the bus to MK and AK only shared with the BC (which was fantastic). Is is still like that or does YC/BC share with the other Epcot resorts? Thanks!

Was at BC 2 weeks ago and we never stopped anywhere, YC is first pickup then BC. I remember a few years ago and only one time stopping at the swan and dolphin on our way to MK but it was in the afternoon.

page 56-59

I will be at the BC for the TOT 10-miler Oct. 3-10th!

I had originally booked only 4 nights at the rundisney discount because they were full, but a day or 2 ago while I was trying to find another resort for the extra days I saw a standard room suddenly open up an hour after my first check revealed none! So I guess thanks whoever had to cancel!

Rundisney already added a non-parking lot view request and I want to ask for a daybed and full balcony. Am I asking for too much? I will arrive around 9am so hopefully wiggle room to request a change.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1 (Post 15).

:cool1:

The fewer requests you have, the more likely the room assigners will be able to grant that (those) requests. Make sure you list your most important request first. "Non-parking lot view, please. Full balcony preferred. Daybed if possible" "Full balcony with non-parking lot view, please. Daybed if possible"

Please note- if you are assigned to a room without a daybed, you can request a rollaway cot from housekeeping. It will be provided free of charge as long as there is one available.

:thumbsup2

Good to see you here, again!

:welcome: back!

For my 3 July trips, I think the only time I have shared with other EP area resorts were the DTD buses. We always take the early morning, EMH buses to AK and MK.

:goodvibes

Quick question: is it regular detergent or He?

High-efficiency, I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Catho72- have you had your "Same Time-Next Year" rendezvous with Tom Collins in the laundry room yet?

;)

You deserve it!

Teena - do you know if Lauren is going to join us at our rapidly expanding DisMeet? Hope to see her again!

She has it on her calendar ... depends on her schedule that day.

I invited her and she said she shall do her best to be there.

:thumbsup2

Checked in this morning! Sadly no availability to upgrade to club level (been trying since January so I wasn't surprised) but we love our standard room. Over the roof we have a view of the pool! Still trying to get an ADR for beaches and cream, so hopefully we can at least get that! :)

Have a fantastic time!!! Good luck with the reservation.

:cool1:

Thank you for this. I know this is the Y&B Club thread, but we're planning a trip to DL next year after getting off the Wonder in San Diego and your tips are going into my notes.

I am very liberal with allowing off topic posts- this group has a lot of Disney, and other, knowledge so I don't have a problem with questions/info not directly related to the resort. Especially since it helps me too!

I imagine I will be writing a trip report featuring the adventures of my summer trip to DL and Hawaii- I tend to write very informative, detailed reports (if I do say so myself), so I hope you will look for it. I'll put a link here and in my signature when I start it.

I am glad to hear you are feeling better, I thought it was odd that I didn't get to see you on that Sunday or Monday that we were there (I thought for sure I would see you on that Sunday since that was the day that I knew you worked). I will definitely come by and say hi to you the next time we are there.

That sounds like a great room, and it was close to the lobby, too. :thumbsup2
I'm glad to hear that the crowd levels were low. Our daughter and her family just returned yesterday, they stayed at ASMU, and I'm glad that they had such a good week. I'm wondering if the crowds were lower than usual because so many schools had to extend their school years to make up for all the snow days this winter.

I loved how close our room was to the lobby, it made it really easy for us to get where we wanted to go without waiting for the elevators (loved using the stairs from the lobby up to our room). I would have to agree with you on why the crowds levels were low. We live in a Suburb of Chicago and we got hit hard with the Polar Vortex so our kids are now making up 4 days of school, who knows what the rest of the country is doing. Whatever it is, I am glad the crowds were low (however we did see a ton of school groups and band groups) because I was really expecting a lot worse.

I have stayed in room 2641! It was way back in 2006. One of my favorite rooms of all time.....right up the stairs from the lobby, huge balcony and an amazing view. Funny story, and you can relate since you know how it's right near the walkways: my then 13 year old daughter and I were on the balcony and a FROG jumped out of nowhere and landed on my head!! I screamed and jumped up and down, and so did my daughter since she had no idea what was happening, and when the frog took off, I finally looked around me, and EVERYONE within ear shot was looking at us, and people came running up to see if we were OK....embarrassing!!:laughing: Glad you had a great trip!:thumbsup2

Oh my, I would of screamed bloody murder too :rotfl:. Thankfully we didn't have any frogs to deal with while we were there. One of my favorite things to do is to people watch on our balcony, and I loved how close our balcony was to the main walkway leading up to the resort. I definitely could relate as to how people would of reacted to when you screamed.....poor you :goodvibes.

Another awesome thing about the location and our balcony was that we also could listen to the movies playing on the beach, there was a few trees in the way so we really couldn't watch the movies, unless we squinted our eyes through the trees, but one night we got to listen to the movie Frozen, my kids and I had a blast singing all of the songs.

DH also had a fun time watching police escorting a family off the beach because they refused to get out of the lake (there was a mom, dad, and 2 young kids splashing around in the lake). From what DH said, Disney security and a couple CMs kept telling the family to leave, but they refused to listen, he said there was one time where the family left for about 5 minutes and then came back when security left. He said that finally some managers and police came up to them and escorted them away (after the 5th time). Don't know if they escorted them off the property completely or just out of the area. How sad, they had 2 young kids with them...what great role models these parents are to their children :(.

Any chance you could post pictures/descriptions of these rooms in the BC View Thread?

Hopefully to the hospital. There are some seriously scary things in Florida lakes (not just the crocs). That's why Disney is very strict about keeping people out.

Seriously, I don't know why some people think they are above the rules.

Live update:

After spending the entire day at MK yesterday (left BC at Noon, returned at Midnight), we are spending the early part of the day at SAB. I saw Teena back at work but didn't get a chance to stop....she was talking with other guests.

We nabbed a table at 10:30am at SAB and now that it's almost Noon, there are still tons of unoccupied and un-saved chairs! Where are all the people? I am definitely not complaining!

Here's a live shot of my view at SAB:

I apologize if this doesn't work....haven't used the photobucket app since last year.

Oh....super cool new magic band info: we wanted to link our Buzz ride pictures to our Magic Bands since we bought Memory Maker. Since we linked MM to our MDE app, our ride photos will automatically appear in our account due to the RFID upgrade! Pretty cool, huh? Kind of Big Brother-ish too.....

Oh, one last thing.....we really like SDMT. Just don't wear anything on your head. I lost my Minnie ears on the first incline.

Sounds like a great room you changed into! I definitely would not like a juliette balcony. That is my only request too.

Carho72:love the selfie in front if the castle!!!

I had to sigh, wish I were there!!!!

I love all of the live pics!!!!

My son's last soccer game was today and they were rained out. We had a party scheduled at our house and had to cancel because it was miserable outside :( Son was bummed but we turned it into a movie day. He wasn't interested in Beauty and the Beast but now that I have it on he's staring at it and loves it. I am trying to get ready for BOG dinner :)

Ahem.... did you KISS the frog?? I mean after all you are IN Disney World... and we all know what you need to do when a frog gets close enough... I think you missed your chance at a possible upgrade...
