Hi everyone!

Just checking in! It has been so busy with summer travel sports kicking in and school ending. Very excited about everyone's upcoming trips and can't wait to read back and catch up.

I am so excited to report that I just booked my room for the princess half next February. We ended up going with the 2 bedroom suite over at BWI. The YC one wasn't big enough and I was too nervous about BC renovations in Feb.

Even though I am across the lake for this trip I will still be over there visiting my favorite Teena! :-)

Wheee! Enjoy BWI. We constantly debate which is our favorite resort, YC, BC, or BWI. We've never been disappointed at any of the above. You'll be so happy there, and you can always gaze across at your beloved BC/YC if you get homesick!

We had a standard view on the fourth floor. Beneath us was a cinder roof but you could see the top of Spaceship Earth and the tall pine trees were the view looking straight ahead. It was very quiet and serene to me. I was surprised because I worry I get too picky sometimes.

In August, we have a SV booked at BC, and I'm really, really hoping for a peek at Spaceship Earth! #fingerscrossed

Holy August!

Right? I hope it's not too crowded!

After reading a bunch of posts, I see I'm not the only one planning a Magical Vacation for the month of August. ;) We had always wanted to stay at the BC/YC after visiting it during one of our trips. Now, we finally have the chance with such great rates! Yay! :woohoo:

I think a *lot* of us are planning *Magical Vacations* in August. For the BC and GF portions of our trip, I know we are!

Thank you! After the past week with the kidney stones, I'm ready for some Disney magic myself!!!!!

Go Teena Go! Have fun!

Not a restaurant- no food sales, but it is close to the Marketplace which doesn't have a ton of seating so people can bring their morning coffee and pastry there to eat in cushy comfort.

Even though we stayed at YC, we bought breakfast at the BC Marketplace and ate breakfast in The Solarium each morning on our last trip. We love it there. JNPants asked me why I hadn't told him about this place before and asked me why I'd hidden it from him. :roll eyes:

Speaking of the Solarium...

THAT is the place to be on Monday August 18 for the 5th annual Beach & Yacht Club FAQ DISmeet.

They got me!

They got YCFan!

They'll get YOU too!

WHO will be the next domino to fall???

August 2014 5th Annual Beach & Yacht Club DIS Meet

Monday August 18, 2014, 6:30 PM
Solarium at the Beach Club

Expected Attendees: DisneyMomx7, TeenaS, NinjaMom, Buzzy, JanetMom, ScottMC & JNPants, mommyrosa2, Mousemommy1, tarak, Dancing Queen, HockeyMomR, Real (Happy) Dee, YCFan, The Magical One (maybe)

.

Cannot. Wait.
We had a reservation at Biergarten for 7:15...I think we're going to cancel it. :-)
Do we know if there's any way that Sunken Treasures can be delivered to the Solarium? Teena? Can we make this happen?

Live Report; I'm watching IllumiNations from our balcony. It's a gorgeous evening here at WDW! Amy woke up so we were watching Up on Disney Channel before the fireworks.

My Fitbit says I walked 17,000 steps today. My body concurs....it's tired and sore. What happened to my youth?!?! Back in the day we could do rope drop until close while pushing a stroller with a four-year-old and keeping track of our 6 and 8 yr olds. It's all downhill past a certain age! Oooofffffff!

Sounds like a great view...I may have missed it, but where is your room located?

So the infamous pool noodles went missing a few weeks before our last trip in 2012 :( I was wondering if noodles or any other floats are allowed in SAB? I believe you can rent an inner tube but I can't remember the cost.

Thanks!

Sorry, another detail question... is laundry detergent for sale in the laundry facilities at the resort? Or do I have to buy it at a gift shop somewhere? Thanks :)

I will be at the BC for the TOT 10-miler Oct. 3-10th!

I had originally booked only 4 nights at the rundisney discount because they were full, but a day or 2 ago while I was trying to find another resort for the extra days I saw a standard room suddenly open up an hour after my first check revealed none! So I guess thanks whoever had to cancel!

Rundisney already added a non-parking lot view request and I want to ask for a daybed and full balcony. Am I asking for too much? I will arrive around 9am so hopefully wiggle room to request a change.

I just had a question regarding bus service. We are currently booked at WL, but I am thinking of switching to YC/BC. Last year when we were at the YC, the bus to MK and AK only shared with the BC (which was fantastic). Is is still like that or does YC/BC share with the other Epcot resorts? Thanks!

Catho72: Really enjoying your live updates!! Kelp them coming!

Each time I have been there, it was only shared with BC.

Noodles are allowed. They don't rent tubes anymore, they can be found floating around the lazy river and are free! But I prefer noodles so bring our own!

Laundry detergent is avail in the laundry room vending machine I think for $2.00 does 1 load. I pack my own, either pods or the Purex sheets.

Thank you!!!! And pods, great idea :)

Thank you for this. I know this is the Y&B Club thread, but we're planning a trip to DL next year after getting off the Wonder in San Diego and your tips are going into my notes.

N/P! I know the BC/YC people have exquisite taste, and as such I wanted to provide specialized advice. (Does that mean the 'on topic' requirements of this thread? ;) )

Seriously though, while I am a BC/YC person at WDW, Disneyland is my 'home resort', so I go there far more often, and I am very familiar with it! But if you want more tips, the Disneyland forum on this board is a great place to start.

Quick question: is it regular detergent or He?

As for the pool toys, a great tip is to purchase a kids' meal from Hurricane Hannah's that comes with a bucket and shovel! Perfect for the little ones who want to play in the sand! Or you might get lucky and find a few 'abandoned' ones in the toddler area that are begging to be played with!

Another great tip!!!

We'll actually be coming up from Miami so we'll probably have a lot of leftover beach toys (and I'll bring some noodles). Hopefully we can leave them for someone else as we can't bring them home on our flight.

Dee,

Small change to our YC dates.

We are leaving late on Friday, August 15. My original plan was to either stay the first night at a DTD hotel or use the teacher discount at the Dolphin.
I thought the "magical" rates didn't start until the 17th.

Just found out that we can still get the "magical" rate for the 16th. By the time we added the resort fees, parking and other fees for the Dolphin or DTD hotels there wasn't much of a difference.

So we are now at YC August 16-20 and GF August 20-27!

our first stay at BC is Aug 12-19. Stormalong Bay looks awesome, but can it be hard to keep track of kiddos in it? I have 3 kids, ages 11, 9 and 6. The 11 year old is a strong swimmer, the other 2 not so much. My DH is not a fan of water, but will help me out. What is the best way to do this? Everyone stay together and move to different areas as a group? Do you think its safe to send an 11 year old on the slide by himself? Is there a swimming area near the slide exit where we can hang out and try to keep track of him? Any advice or info you could share would be greatly appreciated!
We had the same ages for our kids the last time around! I was fine with the 2 older ones. We had 2 lounge chairs saved while we were there that everyone had to remember where exactly they were. We tried our best to keep an eye on our daughter who was 6 at the time. She has always felt she can do what her big brothers do, and she did take off on us to go down the Flying Jib by herself. We had a few minutes of heart palpitations looking for her, but she proudly knew where she was the entire time. On the good side, I found the life guards to be plenty and very attentive, so I had no fear of a pool accident.

Live Report: The weather couldn't be better! We rented a surrey bike and laughed the entire time. I can't recall the last time all five of us laughed that hard together. :)
I keep wanting to do this. I have seen people struggling and laughing to get up over the inclines of the bridge connecting BW and BC.

I hear ya on the age. I know I'll be a hurting unit a few days in...

DisneyMomx7 :)

We are also taking a 'Magical' vacation with the same resort split, we are at YC from August 20-26 and GF from August 26 to 29. We also 'Magically' tacked on Portofino Bay at the beginning of our trip from August 17-20th! The only sad thing about that is we will miss the Dis Meet. :sad1:

Our original plan was to do Universal during this trip too.
Instead we went for Easter break. My DH is a CPA and this is the first time
in 11 years that Easter fell after April 15. My kids are in parochial school so we always have the week after Easter off and we could NEVER take a trip!

We had two rooms at RPR and stayed the first night (arrival night) at Cabana Bay. We had a ball! Sorry you will miss the meet - but have a great trip!

Robyn - my mom and I check in on the 16th too, but at BC. I was also surprised the deal included the 16th. Works for me! Thinking about adding another day and staying until the 20th, but right now scheduled to depart on the 19th. Looking forward to meeting you!

Rebecca

Well guys the bad news is I didn't win the lottery so we will all have to pay for our own vacations but the good news is that for those of us not able to attend this years dismeet we have loads of time to save our pennies so we can make it to the 2015 dismeet!!

I'm trying to think positively-can you tell? :)

Thanks for your response! It will be our first time at BCV. We are WLV owners. Are there any request that you would think are worth making? I think we would prefer to be closer to the pool than to Epcot as we are planning to spend most of the day at SAB and do the parks at night given an August weather trip. DSs are 11 and 8.

I am thinking of booking a CMC character breakfast. Any good?

We just returned from a trip in May a few weeks ago and actually ended up going to the CMC character breakfast TWICE. The food was quite good, freshly made and the characters were loads of fun.:)
