Great job on the new thread! I just returned from my visit to the Beach Club and booked a bounceback for November. Please add me to the Be Our Guest List for November 16-23, Yacht Club CL. :yay::cool1:

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:cool1:

After reading all of the information y'all have provided (THANK YOU!) we've decided to upgrade to a Garden View Club Level room! :dance3: This will be the first CL stay for us, and we are all so excited!!!

Got it! I'll make the adjustment to the Be Our Guest list.

:)

It's great to see a new thread :cool1:. We will be checking into BC in 4 days...I am so excited I can't contain myself :dancer:. Unfortunately before we leave my family will have to attend a wake/funeral for my uncle who passed away early yesterday morning. It's heartbreaking, not just because of who he was, but the fact that he was such a huge Disney fan himself. I will be thinking of him a lot while we are on our trip.

I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I know that your trip will have lots of moments when he is with you as you are enjoying your time at the world.

:grouphug:

Hi everyone! We r eating lunch right now at hurricane Hanna's. Just FYI they scanning magic bands and putting on a paper band to get into and out of the pool.

Thanks so much for that info!

Just wanted to drop in and say hi! :) We are going to be staying at Beach Club this October 31-Nov 6th...our first time! We are very excited! This is actually the first time we've stayed at a deluxe resort! (We've stayed in Villas before at Saratoga Springs, but never at a deluxe hotel!)

Thanks so much for all the awesome info in this thread. It has been really interesting to read.

:D

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:woohoo:

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Okay, so after falling too far behind, I'm all caught up on this thread.

:cool1: on getting caught up!

Sounds like some awesome plans. I'm still in the process of solidifying my plans. I'll let you know once I have it all figured out.

:goodvibes

Thanks for this thread!!! Can't wait to go in sept!

:welcome:

Glad you are enjoying the thread.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for September. BC/YC or BCV?

:woohoo:

Hi

We're staying at BCV for the first time in January 2015 and we are so excited!!!

I've read a few things about a refurb but it all seems a bit vague, does anyone have any more info on this?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the list for next year!

:goodvibes

As dansdad mentioned, the info we have about the BC refurb is on Page 1. We keep hearing rumors about a possible rehab at BCV but the news on that is even more vague than what we have for BC.

:)

I was told the other day that while the BC rehab is going, when it is probably about three quarters done, they will do start the BCV too. Then after the BC is totally done, it will move to the YC.

Morning! Can anyone make suggestions on room requests? It is our first stay at BC and we have garden view booked, can you request a balcony or corner room? Is there a list or map of which room are considered garden view? Thanks!

Was talking to the welcome greeter guy (sorry forgot his name) dressed in like a white captains suit about the refurb. Saying it was starting in October and everything ( lobby restaurants etc)was getting done. I asked when it would be likely to be completed but he couldn't say. We hope to go back when it's done. Saying that the rooms were nice the only thing that was old was the shower nozzle which was covered in rust. Mouse keeping was really good keeping room nice and clean..

TigrLvsPooh already correctly answered your first question, so I'll take this one. Once you check in at BC, your Magic Band will no longer work for room entry at CSR. Your MB can only be attached to one room at a time, at least that is how it was 3 months ago. My inlaws did the exact same thing as you want to do and none of their MBs worked at resort #1 once my BIL ran over and checked into resort #2. At least they found this out while someone was still in room #1 and until they were out of the room completely, they just never locked the door or left someone in the room. Unfortunately that won't work for you if you're solo.

Thanks Erika and Sue also for answering my question. Luckily I will be traveling with one other person. However, I think I will just pack up and leave my stuff with bell services when I check in to the BC, then just go right to the convention area at CS, so I'll try to avoid heading back to my room. Never gave that a thought!
My Mom is so excited for this trip! She's making packing lists and outfit lists and shopping lists and reading every review/touring plan that's out there....gee, where did I get it from??? I really want to make this trip special for her, she doesn't get to travel much and LOVES WDW so I'm doing the best I can!

How do I get her a birthday button?? She would totally wear it.

Most of the gv rooms face the wooded area between the BC and Epcot. There is an option to request a full balcony when you are doing the online check in. A request for a corner room would have to be phoned in but I think most corner rooms are deluxe rooms. There is an old room map available but the room categories have changed since it was created.

Thanks for that info, Teena!

Wood Nymph beat me to the response on this.

The short answers are:

No, there is no map showing which rooms are garden views. The map Sue posted was created before there was a garden view category at the resort.

We always advise that you make a room request in words, stating what you want, instead of asking by room number.

Sue may be correct about the corner rooms- I don't know- but you could phrase your verbal request to the Central Reservations Office to be "Full balcony please, corner room if possible" and then if you do the online checkin, indicate you want a full balcony.

For the LOOONNNNGGGG answer, here is the info we have on "Room Requests" in the FAQ section on Page 1 of this thread:

How do I make a request on my reservation? How many requests should I make? What should I request?

You should note any requests on your reservation through Disney's CRO (Central Reservation Office) or your travel agent can add it when your trip is booked, or anytime thereafter. Requests should be made no later than 2 weeks before you will arrive at the resort.

Please remember that requests are not guaranteed.

The fewer requests you have, the more likely there will be a room available that meets your most important preference(s).

Your best bet is to request what you want in words, not room numbers. The chance that a particular room will be available during your trip is not as likely as finding a room that satisfies your room preferences. If you request a specific room, and there is someone staying in the room on the day you check in, the room assigner will have to place you in a different room. If they don't know what your priorities are, they will have trouble giving you another room that has the attributes you want.

When you arrive at the resort for checkin, you can ask before you take your keys if your requests were granted, and if not, see if there is anything available that meets your needs.

There may not be a room available with the request you made when you check in (e.g. full balcony, daybed, king bed). If your request is important enough that you are willing to change rooms later in the week, ask when a room will be available and see if you can arrange to switch rooms.

Requests vary because what is important to one family may be different for another family. Some popular requests are full balcony at the Beach Club, a day bed, close to lobby (or elevator or Stormalong Bay), close to Concierge Lounge (if you are staying club level) or close to EPCOT.

Subscribing to the new thread with a question...

If we have a pre-park opening breakfast at DHS, should we anticipate having to walk? Anyone know?

We are here at the YC now and encountered this issue on Monday. We didn't see any boats and since I had developed a blister, we didn't want to walk that morning - its a nice walk but we didn't want to spend the steps. We took a cab and it was $10 with the tip.

We also had an 8 am breakfast at AK on Sunday, and I learned (from the front desk, bell desk and concierge) there is no longer a bus for early ADRs, and the bus doesn't begin to run until an hour before park opening. The last few years I have been here, at different resort hotels, there has always been a 6:30 bus. We drove to AK, but that's something to verify and keep in mind if you have early ADRs elsewhere.

How do I get her a birthday button?? She would totally wear it.

Sometimes when you check in, they have the buttons there, and will gladly fill it out with her name. Otherwise, just stop by Guest Services in the parks and they have the buttons there too.

Have a great time! We always seem to be on vacation on my DD's birthday, so we always seek out a button. I've got buttons at the resort and in the parks. Get an I'm celebrating button for you.

Yeah!!!! You will love it! :-)

Okay, so after falling too far behind, I'm all caught up on this thread. There are so many things to comment on from excited "Yays", to sad condolences, and back to some smiles and laughs but I'm not able to comment on each and every post that I'd like to. My family has been busy lately. My husband and I spent the week of May 3-9 down in Fort Myers, Florida with another couple. We've been friends with this couple forever (meaning since Kindergarten, for me) and had a great time going to the beach, doing some shopping and spending a couple of days in Key West. Given the loonnnng winter many of us on the boards have been enduring, it was amazing to have 6 straight days of glorious sunshine. (I totally get why Teena moved to Florida!) These are big times for our 17-year old son. Our time in Florida was his first major time at home alone and he did a fantastic job of responsibly taking care of himself and our dog. In even bigger news our extremely introverted, independent son shocked us this week by telling us he is going to his prom. He's never been anywhere near a school dance so we didn't see that one coming. After a few days of discussion on what to wear (noting that he should aim higher than his desire to just wear an old shirt and one of his dad's ties) we got him into a menswear store on Saturday where the clerk was able to convince him that wearing a proper suit was a good idea. So my son is growing up fast and I can't wait to see him all decked out in his new clothes. His long hair and current choice of shoes are still questionable but we have another weekend before prom where we could make some headway on those fronts. This is a holiday weekend celebrating "Victoria Day" in Canada. Officially we use this day to mark the Queen's birthday but in reality it marks the beginning of summer where people try to get outside, enjoy some beverages (which is why many call it the May 2-4 weekend, because there are 24 beers in a case) and end the day with some fireworks. We aren't campers and I'm not a beer drinker, but I did enjoy a glorious afternoon with a walk in the sun, followed by catching up on the Dis board with a margarita at my side. Now let's get this back on topic.... The next big thing in this house is to count down the next 90 days until we arrive at the Beach Club! We have our dining reservations in order and have spent some time this weekend discussion our Fast Pass desires. This trip will be our first adults only trip, with our son staying home alone again. It is so strange to travel without him. Our approach will be to hit a park in the mornings, enjoy the resort in the afternoon and then head out to a nice dinner with evening entertainment tbd. Here's our dining reservation list: [*]Aug 17 - flight arrives at 1:15 pm which gives us plenty of time to settle in before our 7:30 pm dinner at Narcoossees [*]Aug 18 - an early 3:50 pm reservation at San Angel to leave us lots of time to get back to the BC for the 6:30 pm meet up (so can't wait!) [*]Aug 19 - 8:30 am Keys to the Kingdom tour (that is going to be fun) and then back at Cape May for dinner at 6:35 pm [*]Aug 20 - 7:30 pm at Tokyo Dining [*]Aug 21 - our first time checking out the Dolphin with a reservation at Shula's at 6:45 pm [*]Aug 22 - We are heading over to the Grand Floridian Café at 1 pm because we loved our meal there on our last trip, and then we go collect pretzel rolls at the Biergarten at 7:30 pm. The trip is going to fly by so fast. I can't wait to eat at all these places, but we had at least as many choices that didn't make the list because we ran out of days. I definitely want to drop by the Captain's Grill for breakfast one day, and am happy to note that the Keys to the Kingdom tour has lunch at the Columbia Harbour House because we love that place. So much fun dining, so little time! And of course there will be stops around the world for pastries, caramel treats and beverages. When not at dinner we might be spotted at a France beverage cart or settled in at La Cava. (mmm) We will also look at checking out Jelly Rolls at some point (hoping that you don't need reservations.) I know I shouldn't wish the summer away, but I can't wait for the next 90 days to pass by!

That sounds great Janet!!! It will be here before you know it. :-)

I was told the other day that while the BC rehab is going, when it is probably about three quarters done, they will do start the BCV too. Then after the BC is totally done, it will move to the YC.

Great news! BCV could use the update, in my opinion. Can't wait to see what changes they have planned across the resort!!

Teena: Hoping to see you for our Thanksgiving trip this year!!! Have to wait until DD does her "traditions" for the college program (she arrives on August 4th!!!) to see if we will be able to get a discounted room at BC and or YC!! I hope BC is available for that. We may do a split stay with WL also!

She is so excited about the DCP, her dream (she has been chosen in merchandising) would be to work in the BC gift shop!!

Fingers crossed for DH, he loves staying at BC and visiting with you!!

P.S. Richard says hello, and he has to admit that the Magic Bands were pretty awesome....but he still hasn't made up his mind on the whole FP+ thing!!!

Hi everybody!

This is a great thread with so much info! Have been lurking a little while but have finally managed to set our dates. We will be staying at the BCV january 17. to february 2. 2015. We beeing me and my two good freinds (girls trip yay!)

Found so much great info here I first thought there could be no way I actually needed to ask a question and then I remembered I'm planning a breakfast at ohana on our first morning for my stich crazy first time visitor cousin. I'm hoping to go as early as possible (we are early risers) but when should I plan to take the buss to MK to be sure we make it? Is an hour enough?

Thanks!

We will be staying 7 nights at Boardwalk Villas and then moving to the YC CL for 2 nights. We have ROOM only prices. I am an annual passholder, my DH has an 8 day park hopper.

When I check out of the BWV do I have to check in again at the YC CL before I can go to the parks? I'm thinking no, because my DH park hopper is still in effect and I'm the PH.

We can check in anytime, right? The magic bands should still work? I know I won't be able to use SAB until we check in.

I know that the BWV will move our luggage to the YC but will our luggage be held at the YC until we get there or will it be out in our room?

restaurants and lobby. That's an interesting addition to room refurbs.

Thanks so much for this info! The only other pre-opening breakfast I have is at Crystal Palace and I was planning a taxi to the Contemporary anyway so we can sleep in as late as possible!

We have had so many issues with the early ADRs at Tusker House over the years that we no longer make them. Buses never coming. Driving but having the entrance blocked until exactly 8 am so finishing the meal before rope drop is impossible. Taxi is definitely the way to go!

Hope the rest of your trip is wonderful!

Hi - we arrive this Friday (yay!). I already completed on-line check in, but we received an email from Itinerary Planning Services at Beach Club asking us to respond with arrival time, room requests, etc. Do I really need to give them this info again? I thought it was a bit odd. I don't want to ignore if its important. We are staying in a Standard room.
