There'’s Nowhere To Go But Down...…To The Utilidors! NEW TR LINK 6/4

Hi Courtney! Wow - you got some really great FotLK photos!

Love the EE ride photos. That ride is so fun!!!

I love Duffy’s poncho! So cute!

Beautiful Nemo pics too! We still haven’t seen that one - someday…..

Great FotLK pics...my favorite WDW show!

Good move not telling Emily about going backwards on EE. That's the best part and is definitely better left as a surprise!

Yay for Paxton's Olaf pics!!! He absolutely loved the collage you made for him. :goodvibes He is turning into quite the Disney planner, as he now tells me which parks he wants to go to in what order by referencing the park icon. :lmao:

Okay, Duffy in a poncho is pretty darn cute. They should have that outfit in the parks to meet!!!

The caricature came out awesome. I always wanted one, but never did end up paying for one.

You're FotLK photos! Still can't believe I have not seen that show yet. It looks absolutely amazing and gorgeous.

Haha, I love the juxtaposition of your two EE on-ride photos. You definitely got both ends of the excitement spectrum lol

I'm not a Duffy fan at all (his presence bothers me for many reasons that I don't think are worth putting in a comment, but that's beside the point), but that Duffy plush looks so cute in his little rain jacket. I might put aside my differences with him and go buy that when I'm back hahahaha

Wow, you are good at the photos of shows! Those Nemo ones are so nice and clear. What type of camera do you use btw?

Love the Hidden Mickey in Kylie and Emily's caricature. Very cute.

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Okay, if you are dragging me on scary rides on our DCP, I am getting you to FOTLK. It is one of the absolute best shows on property!!

Hahaha that's a good point! We used up all our excitement the first round.

I didn't really "get" Duffy at first but oh my gosh he was so precious in his poncho I just couldn't resist.

My mom takes the show pictures on her Nikon D3100!

It's so awesome he drew a Hidden Mickey, a nice touch of Disney!

I am definitely planning to buy a Grey Goose slushie, or two, or three :upsidedow. If I hide it in my refillable mug, he might not know it is there. ;)

Those are so cute. :) I decided to buy some vinyl covers, since I'm not very artistic. I've painted the Mickey head on two of them so far. :artist: I think one of the bands would look great with a sparkling silver Mickey, like your gold one. Did you use nail polish on the gold Mickey?

HA! I am sure he will not suspect a thing ;)

Thank you!! I did use nail polish and covered it with two top coats of clear nail polish. Silver sparkly would look awesome!

I can't take the credit, my mom took those, but I agree that she did a great job :thumbsup2

Definitely one of the most exciting rides at WDW, despite our appearance.

Actually obsessed with my poncho Duffy.

You definitely should! It's a little on the longer side but there are some really great original songs.

It's one of my favorites too! It never gets old for me.

Haha she was so surprised but it definitely added to the thrill!

Aw I am so glad :goodvibes that is ADORABLE.

I would DIE meeting poncho Duffy!!

Yeah they are on the pricey side, but Kylie splurged since it was her birthday!

Chapter 14: Chef Mickey’s

After our naps and swims, we caught up with Aunt Patti and Uncle Rick. Uncle Rick had a good day on the links, and now we were heading to the Contemporary for dinner!

14499592278_e7d87b1ea6_c.jpg

14687842725_3edc9ccbe5_c.jpg

I haven’t eaten at Chef Mickey’s in years so I was really excited.

14501210948_b7697e51c5_c.jpg

We had a group picture taken, which was included in our Memory Maker package.

14792783224_b16fca4686_c.jpg

We were seated pretty quickly, and Minnie was our first visitor! We told her that this was Emily’s first character autograph, and she was so excited. She noticed Kylie’s button right away and asked how old she was, then pretended to drive.

14501210708_7054d2a017_c.jpg

(I very recently cut my hair and these pictures make me sad because I miss my long hair...but they make me happy because Disney characters)

14707726193_69dcbddac5_c.jpg

14501396547_5be467e590_c.jpg

My love Pluto came over next! He recognized Emily’s Ariel DisneyBound right away—he pretended to swim. He didn’t get that Kylie was Melody, Ariel’s daughter, but not a lot of people have seen the sequel so it’s understandable.

14707724523_b370544b55_c.jpg

When I told Pluto he was my favorite, he TACKLED me with the biggest hug! He’s the best. He’s always as excited to see you as you are to see him.

14501394577_426fc9c5f2_c.jpg

This next picture is my favorite picture ever. Pure happiness right here.

14501394307_b76ab22a33_c.jpg

14687836905_6b55846a1c_c.jpg

Goofy visited next and he LOVED that he was in Kylie and Emily’s personalized autograph books. He was so happy to see the pictures of himself!

14501189139_4e0c6f1f06_c.jpg

Mickey was next, and he gave hugs and took pictures, but nothing really out of the ordinary. I'm sure he was just stressed about his restaurant so it's nbd.

14707718883_a5c2e6e5f5_c.jpg

14687831015_675c77ba82_c.jpg

Donald was last. He loved his pictures in the book and mimed holding the trays like he was in the picture. He didn’t like the name of the restaurant, though, and we agreed that Chef Donald’s would be a better name.

I think this was him miming holding the trays but it kinda looks like he just scored a touchdown or landed his gymnastics routine.

I had to get a picture to send Danielle (IHeartDDuck) so I had my dad take some on my phone, and he got this great candid. Look at us, just chatting like we’re old pals!

Chapter 15: Celebrate! Every Day’s A Party!

At some point we got food, and I forgot to take pictures until our second helpings. Dad artfully arranged his sushi for me:

14685935562_37550cce49_c.jpg

And I enjoyed some delicious Mango BBQ ribs. I also had the Mickeyroni and Cheese, the beef, and some rice. It was all pretty good. Not the best food I’ve had at Disney, but definitely not bad.

14683043251_e9753d6653_c.jpg

One of the most magical moments of the trip came when a CM named Susannah came up to our table and asked if Kylie was dressed as Melody. They started chatting about the movie and both burst into a song from it at the same moment: “Titanic Tip and Daring Dash, Adventurers/Explorers!” It was a really sweet moment especially since a lot of people didn’t know who Kylie was, so they took a picture together.

14707716603_f63cb60bc9_c.jpg

After that, it was dessert time! Those Oreo Mickey Mousses were really good.

14685935442_dcc884e42f_c.jpg

14685935312_a1e1e8b3bb_c.jpg

Goofy swung by and let us know that he made all the desserts.

Really need these chairs for my home:

14707711923_88ca7dd868_c.jpg

At this point Emily was on her 5th iced tea. This grew to be a theme of the trip. Good for her for staying hydrated!

BIRTHDAY CUPCAKE #2!

14687826615_8d347cb35a_c.jpg

Mickey tried to conduct Happy Birthday, but since the Mickey Mouse song was playing in the restaurant, we sang that instead! That made him happy. Then we realized that Kylie would have to eat Mickey on her cupcake, and Mickey covered his eyes. Ky told him she wouldn’t, and he wiped the sweat from his face. It was such a fun interaction!

TIME TO TWIRL THE NAPKINS!

14664818706_c61d732224_c.jpg

CELEBRATE! EVERY DAY’S A PARTY! That song was stuck in my head for the rest of the night.

14685438974_95e83be5ec_c.jpg

Overall I had a really good experience at Chef Mickey's! I really love being able to meet the characters in these outfits.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=52222699&postcount=199

That's a really nice group picture you got at the beginning of Chef Mickey's

Glad you had such a good interaction with Pluto.

I never know if the Characters are supposed to recognize what happened in the sequels or not :confused3

Donald does look like he just nailed a dismount or something :rotfl:

Those are really nice pictures. Chef Mickey's looks like fun. I've heard that the food is just average, though.

Oh, Chef Mickey’s!!! We have always had a great time there!

I love the pic of you three girls with Minnie - so cute!!!

So, I totally need a pic of you with the shorter hair now…. :rolleyes1:

Willow would be suitably impressed with your Pluto hugs - as you may know, she is a big fan of those herself. ;)

 Every time we have met Mickey at CM (actually, at most restaurants), he has been a bit stressed about how the meals are coming out. ;) Looks like on your night, Mickey made up for his stress level with the birthday fun! :woohoo:

Wow! CM Susannah is truly above and beyond! :thumbsup2

Everything was moving so quickly in there it was no wonder you forgot the first helping food pictures. I was not too impressed with the food, but then again I was still feeling nauseous so I am not the best judge.

That CM was the best! When she and Kylie started belting out that song, it was precious. I was so happy. Melody is one of Kylie's favorites and not many people recognized her (not that she really cared - she did it for herself, good for her).

Thank goodness we found that 3 legged goat or whatever it was hidden in that giant mosaic or we might have been there all night.

The pictures look great. They always seem to look better online than when I print them out.

I never noticed that Goofy had the spilled mustard bottle on his chef coat.

Looks like a great meal at Chef Mickey's and like you all had great character interactions.

The picture of Donald does remind me of a gymnast. He's so fab that he obviously just landed his routine perfectly.

Mmm desserts look good and I'm sure Mickey was relieved that his face wasn't going to get eaten in front of him.

Overall just sounds like a really great evening :)

I've never eaten at Chef Mickeys myself... But I am excited for you!!!

Haha, yeah even the Disney characters tend to only know the original movies. And in fairness, Emily doesn't quite look old enough to be Kylie's mother, lol.

Seriously, anything better than meeting your favourite character and having him/her be that excited?? I think not.

Awww, Danielle mentioned you sent her some photos. Honestly, you are so sweet.

Awesome CM to recognize the Disneybound. That definitely deserved a photo. :goodvibes

YAY Chef Mickey's!!!!!!! I love all your pictures! Kylie and Emily's disneybounds are so cute! and that's so adorable that the server recognized her. I love cast members like that :goodvibes and okay the picture of Donald like throwing his arms in the air hahahaha I'm dying, he's so amazing omg I love that duck

Also, while we're talking about photos... you mentioned Memory Maker - how did you end up liking it? The girls and I are doing a share and getting it for our trip in a few weeks. Is it worth the money? I know there's a bunch of extra things you can do with it so we're really excited to see what all we can do! ^_^

YES buffet food. omg. the mickeyroni and cheese though. last time I went there I ate like 4 plates of it. because I am a child. also omg napkin twirling gives me LIFE. sounds like Chef Mickey's was amazing!! can't wait to read more :upsidedow

Thank you!! I was really happy with it, it was nice to have one of all of us together.

He's my favorite of the Fab 5 so I was very happy!

Yeah, it's pretty iffy on whether or not those are "canon"

Haha it's seriously one of the funniest pictures of the trip.

Those are really nice pictures. Chef Mickey's looks like fun. I've heard that the food is just average, though.

It was a lot of fun! It is really more about the characters than the food tbh but I enjoyed what I had.

I don't think I've been since I was 7 and never for dinner so I was so glad it lived up to my expectations!!

Hehe well if you insist...I'll have a better quality one up in the next few weeks (a real life update is coming!) but in the meantime:

14925093857_63bd7a7bed_m.jpg

With our mutual love of Pluto and Frozen I have a feeling Willow and I would get along great!

Now that I think about it that's a pretty accurate assessment of our restaurant meets with Mickey :rotfl: the later interaction was so funny, though!

She was amazing! So sweet, we loved her.

Yeah I was not on my food pic game yet. I eventually caught up, though!

That was seriously one of the most precious moments of the whole trip. Susannah was so sweet to Kylie.

Hehe I'll get to that part soon :thumbsup2

You did such a great job getting the candids!

I think he has ketchup on the other side too :rotfl:

We were really lucky to have good character interactions across the board!

Of course! #1 gymnast right there.

The desserts were DELICIOUS and Mickey was definitely relieved!

Since you don't frequent TS restaurants I'll tell you that this wouldn't be my first choice, but we had a lot of fun and ate some good food.

HA good point. More like sisters than mother/daughter.

It was SO AWESOME, Rob. That's a big reason why I love Pluto so much. He's one of the most enthusiastic characters.

Dawww it's seriously no trouble. Certain characters/things make me think of my DIS pals and so I want to share.

She was fabulous!

It was such a fun night! That Donald pic is seriously one of my favorite photos of the trip. At the time it seemed totally normal but out of context I think it's the funniest.

We loved Memory Maker!! We are huge ride photo people so that honestly made it really worth it for us, and it includes restaurant pictures too (I forget if you are going to any restaurants that take pics beforehand though). I also read that now Memory Maker includes video for Tower of Terror and THAT would be awesome!

Mickeyroni and cheese is AMAZING. I love the standard Disney mac adn cheese but having Mickey shaped pasta makes it even better :thumbsup2 The napkin twirling was sooo fun, I don't remember doing it the last time I was there (which was over 10 years ago ugh why am I old) but I think it's great!

Fellow Courtney here, joining a little late! I read your last trip report, and loved it, and now I'm caught up with this one! Love your pictures and commentary. Totally cracking me up! You've also got me interested in pin trading again. I never quite got into it, but it's really cool to hear about your trades and see what you end up with each day! You may have just created a monster. ;)

That poncho for Duffy is simply the cutest thing I've ever seen!

That last post made me REALLY miss Chef Mickey's! I haven't been there since I was really little. Still have the picture of my brother and I with Mickey framed on the wall. Definitely putting that on the list for my next trip. It's time to go back and wave some napkins!

Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

Woot I am all caught up. I had no idea about Disneybounding...We have done matching shirts every single time we went but I think next trip my Sweet 16 girl and I will be DisneyBounding. The boys never liked my Tshirts so they wont get to dress up next year. Let them wear boring clothes :lmao:

BTW I LOVE Emily's hair... Redheads rock (I am one so I know ;) )

I cant wait to get to the Keys to Kingdom tour part of your TR.
Love the birthday surprises Kylie got. I am already trying to plan decorations and little surprises along the way for my DD's sweet 16 :surfweb:

Catching up over here as we just got back!

I'M OBSESSED WITH THE DUFFY IN THE PONCHO. I was going on and on about how much I wanted one and my guy actually got me a Duffy on our trip and we hunted down a poncho for him. He's just too cute. I'm concerned about how many different outfits I'm going to need for him though. Because there are a lot I need. And I'm an "adult". But for real, I might die with out the ghost costume they just put out for him. UGH:lovestruc:lovestruc

Chef Mickey's is always a fun time! Yall got some awesome pictures, too :)

Hi fellow Courtney!!! Thank you so much for joining in and commenting :goodvibes Pin trading is my LIFE. I was really into it when I was younger but then stopped for a few years. But I've been trading for the last three trips and I'm totally hooked!

I love my poncho Duffy. He's adorable!

You definitely should! I hadn't been in ages either but we had such a good time.

Matching shirts are coming up for us! The DisneyBounding was a great idea. I don't do it because I have so many Disney shirts, but it's adorable.

Redheads do rock!!!

I am excited to get there too. I learned so much about MK!!

AHHHH welcome back!!! I'm sure you had an awesome time!!

YES our Poncho Duffys can be twins! I just saw the ghost ones on Twitter and I really want one!!

Chef Mickey's is always a fun time! Yall got some awesome pictures, too :)

I always enjoy seeing their Disney bounding outfits, too. :goodvibes

We had so much fun and my mom did get a lot of good pics!

They were awesome at DisneyBounding for sure!

Chapter 16: A Grand Circle Tour

After we finished, Kylie, Emily, and I decided to check the gift shops for pins (we’re all addicts) when we saw a woman cussing out a CM because a gratuity was automatically added to her bill at Chef Mickey’s. This woman was literally screaming and I couldn’t believe it. I felt so bad for that CM. Nobody deserves to be treated like that, especially for something that obviously wasn’t this CM’s fault. UGH.

14683042221_3522e2a4b9_c.jpg

We decided to ride the monorail around the resorts! We hunted for the five-legged goat, but it wasn’t on the side we were on.

My love the Poly! I actually didn’t visit on this trip. I didn’t want all the construction to ruin the Poly for me.

Dream big, live Grand.

Once we got back to the Contemporary, we looked all around the mural, and Uncle Rick found the five-legged goat! What a champ.

14499772827_5b08ec3da6_c.jpg

Emily looked it up, and Mary Blair included it because nothing except what God created could be perfect, so she included an imperfection in every work she made. Pretty cool stuff.

We hadn’t been able to find a parking spot so we valet parked the car (free with Tables in Wonderland). Emily thought that was the coolest thing ever. When we went to pick up the car, we had this awesome CM named Phil sprint to our car so we’d get it as soon as possible. He was really sweet and we joked that he and Emily were in love now. #HappilyEverAfter

Also, if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to have a hearing impaired person in your family, it’s a little like this:

Me: We should pretend to forget Kylie’s birthday. It’ll be like Sixteen Candles!
Dad: What about a camel?

We went back to the hotel. I did some pin trading with the pin board at the concierge desk, and when we got back to the room, we found out we had a package…My Aunt Kathy and Uncle Kent, who had wanted to come on the trip with us but couldn’t, sent Kylie and me Disney gift cards! It was so thoughtful and generous of them!

That night, I also gave Kylie her birthday present. My friend Roni (RGirl on the DIS) makes these AMAZING character cupcake shirts. I saw them on her trip report and asked if she’d do adult shirts, and she graciously agreed. They are so well made and absolutely adorable. When I gave Kylie hers, her jaw hit the floor! She was so excited because Peter Pan is one of her absolute favorites. And I had to get myself a Pluto one, of course.

14499587929_08c4c63d8c_c.jpg

We all went to bed pretty early that night. Tomorrow was the biggest day of the trip, the reason for the trip in the first place…Kylie’s Sweet and Sassy 16!

Oh my. To this day I will never understand people. I'll be honest; I do not like the fact that gratuity is automatic. I think it's wrong. But that is never an excuse to treat someone like that. Never!

YAY FIVE LEGGED GOAT!!! The hidden Mickey of... goats I guess. I never did know the story behind it though. Pretty cool.

"What about a camel?" I know it's probably wrong to laugh but :lmao:

I love the shirts that Roni made. DIS folk are wonderful!
