What prestige and excitement can be in our future?

Does this mean more "perks"?

The perks, although nice, are not ones that I always use. I would like perks that include discounted parkhoppers or deep discounts on cruises.

One thing that my guide informed me of the other day when I inquired about an add on is that DVC is making a priority of becomming more involved with resales. For a fee, they may take your re-sale, thus making it easier for owners to sell, trade, and have add on availability. He said this would become available in as soon as 2 months, or as far as 2 years. They are trying to iron it all out, and they project 6-8 months.

That is quite interesting. You should start a post on this so others will see it.

In trade, do you mean trade your contract for a different home resort?

Don't feel bad -- I had to look it up!! You can find a list of the common (and maybe not so common) abbreviations used on the discussion boards. Go to the home page of disboards and click the Abbreviations link located on the left side of the home page.

Is this an atempt at controling resales prices?

Front Of The Line... US does it for all resort guests but that would be impratical and worthless at WDW... If they only did it for DVC it would be brilliant... Think about it, it would not cost Disney anything to institute but would lead to increased DVC sales (not to mention happy owners)... Just let DVC owners walk on the fastpass lines... Now, if it would only come true!

But how would you have it differ from Fast pass?

as a guest at a US resort you just walk on through the universal express line whenever you choose without having to get an express ticket... at WDW the DVC owners could do the same without having to get an actual fastpass or come at any specific time...

Thanks for the explanation. We have never done Universal, so I didn't know about this. My first reaction is that certain times of the year could be difficult with DVC FOTL. The first two weeks of Dec. comes to mind, as does October and F&W. The difference is that there are far more people at WDW than Universal, so I wonder if this would be as successful.

As a whole - but if they only include the number of DVC members, say at any one park at a time, it could be done without a problem. Got to admit, I'd feel very special if they did that. :smooth: hint, hint, powers that be, hint, hint. :p ::yes::

At Universal, you flash your room key at the employee watching the express line and they let you in. For DVC members it would work to be able to flash a DVC room key that says "MEMBER" on it. That way, anyone staying in a member's room could use the room keys.

Might be open to abuse, though, since members can ask for as many room keys as they have room capacity.

I would imagine this would enable you to trade contracts, as well as enable dvc to control resale prices. Also get their piece of the pie on resale profits.

FOTL would be the best perk dvc has offered since the free passes in the 90's.

I'm not sure how to interpret that. The first interpretation that pops to mind is that DVC would set their own "buy-back" prices. If you wanted to get rid of your contract hassle-free, you could go to DVC and they would buy it back for a set price per point, no questions asked.

If true, I'm sure the published rates would be lower than the current going rates for resales.

Is anyone reading this differently?

On the topic of FOTL, that would be great. But personally I would settle (I know, why settle?) for unlimited FastPass. It would be great to walk into a park like MK, spend 10 minutes getting FastPasses for each attraction, and then planning your stay accordingly.
