Did my first DCL cruise in 2023 -7 night Merry Time on Fantasy Saturday after Black Friday. Then did Fantasy and Wish solo in 2024 . Had a super awkward dining partner that kind of took away from Wish cruise. Did Treasure in Feb with my friend who suggested doing DCL (she is gold, I watch her corgis when they sail). I have a solo Treasure booked in October and Alaska on Wonder next May.

Cruising is my family's favorite vacation, even beats out a WDW trip.

Over the years we have taken 41 cruises between the four of us, some all together, some only one or two of us, in all sorts of combinations.

Despite all our cruises we are amateurs compared to oh so many when it comes to sailing on Disney.

It seems like each cruise line has their fans that only sail on that one line while we bounce back and forth between several.

As for DCL have been on the Magic, Wonder, and Dream.

The most memorable ranked are probably:
1. The pre inaugural Magic visit to Lookout Key at Lighthouse Point. It was exciting being among the first guests to experience the flies!

2. Our first ever back to back, though I didn't get to experience it as well as the rest of the family because I had to take a family friend to the airport that was only sailing on the first cruise. As a result I didn't get to experience the nearly empty ship before the next cruise was boarded.

3. Having to disembark the Magic mid cruise in Mexico so my mother in law could have life saving surgery. That was a very different perspective on the sail away as I instead watched it from the beach in Mexico instead of from the deck of the Magic.

4. The one and only DVC member cruise. We got so much free junk on that trip. Just a few days ago I came across a tin from the cruise that contains a clock and another that has some games, a pad of paper, and some cards.

Went on the Magic on a New Year's cruise, 2003/04. Our kids were 12 and 16. Most expensive cruise we have ever taken, but glad we did it ........once. Absolutely a great trip. But not sure my wife and I would do Disney again with just the two of us. Now when our Granddaughters are older, I guess we might consider it.
My DIL was not a Disney person. She lived within 50 miles of Disneyland all her life and NEVER went until she started dating our son when she was 20. She went to Disneyworld five times for conferences and debate tournaments and NEVER went to any of the parks! But she has three children now, and her dad stumbled into a whole bunch of free Disney admission tickets, and they have gone a few times in the last five years. So a family cruise with all the Grandparents is possible in the future. The girls are 1,3 and 6, so it would be a few years away....probably 8-10.....since I feel a child really needs to be 8-10 to enjoy a cruise.

New Year’s and Christmas are peak pricing. They even block the placeholder discounts on those cruises.

Been on the Disney Wonder to Alaska in 2009. It was one of the only times they had a kids sail free promo and being out of our local port so was nice . Our last cruise was on Royal Caribbean and going Celebrity for the first time next month.

Yes, I am aware. When you have kids in school, don't believe in taking your kids out of school for vacation, and only have four weeks vacation a year, you are often stuck paying peak prices for all vacations.

Went on the Wonder in 2003 for a 3/4 night cruise, enjoyed it after I got ahold of some seasick pills, LOL. It was in January right after New Year's so it wasn't very crowded (I'm sure that's changed 22 years later).

Even though I had a good time, my modern sensibilities tell me "no" when I think about taking another cruise. The high risk of Norovirus is enough to turn me off, and when those poor people were locked up in their rooms on that ship when Covid hit because no port would take them, that sealed the deal for me. I know that's not likely to happen, but I mean I'm sure those people never expected it to happen either. :scared:

None for me so far...but I am open when the time and funding is right.

We haven't been on a DCL but I don't think we will; the only way is if we did a group DISer trip but that's it. The cost to value ratio isn't there. We also have found that we value smaller ships, the two cruises we've been on together having had 600 passengers. Another thing is Disney doesn't see the world and I want to see the world. Little options for that outside of the Caribbean when you run the numbers. On that end my interest in a Caribbean cruise is so far down the list at the moment though my very first cruise was done as a teen to the eastern Caribbean.

I do like the theming of Disney and I do like some of the newer lounges and decor choices they've been doing (like I love the theme of a haunted mansion bar).

Have you been on a Disney Cruise?
If yes……which ship(s) have you sailed on?
Yes. At this time, only the first 4 ships are on our completed list: Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy.

Biggest problem is - we're west coast and and having to basically take a long flight to even get to the ships is daunting to me. Also, we have figured out we like long (like really long) cruises that aren't repeat itineraries. So we've been concentrating on Holland America most recently.

Another issue - I'm not convinced I'll like the mega ships that the newest Disney ships are. But, I'm hoping to get around to cruising on them.

We have sailed 16 times and have numbers 17, 18, and 19 booked. We have sailed on every ship except the Magic, Destiny (which we have booked so I marked it), and Adventure. I doubt we will get to the Adventure anytime soon. It is our favorite way to vacation - we love sailing concierge - the service for us has always been extraordinary.

I love cruising, but DCL is ridiculously expensive. I refuse to pay that much for a cruise.

Alaska inaugural season was 2011. We did the last cruise of the season.

That was the summer of 2012. We did two of the weekend cruises plus the Canada cruise.
Thanks for the date correction. Time sure does fly but it makes sense since our first ever cruise was 2002 with Celebrity 🙂.
