To gain the maximun use of points for a WDW vacation...
1 cent on the dollar

lets say WDW resort bill = $3000
then reward would be $30
enough for $30 of soveniers or 1 adult meal.

I do not like to pay in full too far inadvance.
But...
If billing ends cycle is on Aug 20 and our magical vacation begins Aug 24,
Then call WDW and charge balance on Disney Visa on Aug 15th.
Then on August 21, transfer the reward points just earned ($30) to the
rewards card.

When I return from WDW, pay the resort fee on the charge plate, on Sept 1.
Or send in payment directly to Chase Disney Visa before leaving
on vacation (bill may cross paths in the mail with the payment).

This way you have the resort fully paid for - gained the rewards for the
charged amount. It will be like getting 2 free WDW towels or 2 free t-shirts or 4 free Mickey hats with your room. Your own WDW perk.

What do you think of my theory ?

Do you think it would work to gain full use of the reward dollars ?

Definately pay ahead of time. I wish I had paid only 2 weeks earlier and I would have had $30 more dollars to spend on vacation. I loved having the card to use for meals. We did not eat too expensive, mostly counter service. Our $200 lasted about 10 days. Some things you pay cash so those cards really picked up the slack. Also, if the points are not there when you leave you can always call Chase and have them transfer the points to your card. You always keep the same card and they just magically transfer the points to your card after a phone call.

Wow $200 for food for 10 days ? You must stay off site or in a DVC room with a kitchen.
At home, my family can eat a $250 food bill each week

We estimate $150 a day for our family for food.
We do bring breakfast items with us and buy water and fruit at the food store stop on our way to the WDW resort.
DH requires a sit down A/C restaurant each day. He wants our kids to drink cold milk, and everyone to have salads, veggies, healthy entrees.

DH did agree with my theory of how to gain the most reward dollars before
going on vacation. He also liked the idea of paying it off before we go - so we have a clean credit card.

We have done our car down payments when we bought our new cars.
At $2000 each - we gained $40 in rewards.
And then just paid off the credit card when it came in.

I have also gained reward dollars from our food bills.
That adds up to $10 of rewards a month.
Easier than remembering to bring a check with me to the food store.
And then I just pay it off at the end of the month.

After 3 years - we have about $500 of rewards.
So by next year - we should have enough for 4 days of food at WDW.

No, we stayed at POR. We had Wegoshop deliver breakfast items, snacks, fruit, and beverages to our room. We have 3 small kids that easily share 1 kids meal and my husband and I would share. But like I said we used some cash here and there too. In the food court we would get salads and fresh fruit, soups and just share all the items.
