Southwest to start charging for bags

If you book SW with either of the two lower tier price options with the points (and honestly, those are just the same or higher prices as the other airlines), and then cancel - the points you used to book will now Expire either 6 months (Basic Fare) or 12 months (Wanna Fare) from the date you placed the initial booking. I hope I'm wrong, but that is how I read the points terms now?

I cancelled and rebooked last week, and my points are all in one bucket. The points that were returned, were not put anywhere with an expiration date.

I called and asked - the rep confirmed (in her words "so far") POINTS DO NOT EXPIRE. Sorry for any confusion!

If you go to the website (or app) and look at a random flight using cash, you get the flight credit with expiration date as the refund method. If you change to points, the refund method changes to refundable to RR account. Oh and the bag fees are $35 for the first and $45 for the second per flight. RR CC holders get 1 bag for up to 8 passengers on the same reservation free.
