OMGosh! I was so focused on the the fact that you're not dealing with fibro, I missed the paragraph about DH's grandmother, Karen! :( Awww... a hug to all of you, dear.

Two YaYa b-days?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODD AND CONNER!!

Many many many MANY many many many more scrapbooks to go.... :p My great great great grandchildren will most likely be finishing the job for me. :teeth:

TC - you would have let James drive in Chicago traffic?? You are a brave, brave man.....

I don't know if brave would have been the right word. Perhaps "desparate" would better describe my situation.

I spent all day Saturday sitting in the Ohio State student union watching everyone elses "stuff". Eight hours of stuff watching. :(

Sarah's team competed with 39 other middle school teams from all over Ohio. They placed 16th overall. Sarah was in four individual events and scored between 9th and 18th place. She did best in an event called "Metric Estimation". Her job was to estimate weights of small objects. She asked the judge if she could put items on her head to estimate their weight. The judge OKed the practice. I think the judge thought she was crazy for doing that, but when she had been practicing at school, she put various weights on her head (for fun) and got pretty good at estimating that way (weigh?). Anyhow, she placed one item on her head and estimated it's weight at 230 grams. It turns out that it actually weighed 232.6 grams. Not bad. That turned out to be her best event.

The awards ceremony was mercifully short. It can take hours to pass out all the medals, ribbons, and trophys. But it took less than an hour to present all the awards.

My ankle paid a hefty price for yesterday. I tried to keep it elevated, but I couldn't put ice on it, nor did I feel like I should remove my aircast and do any physical therapy. When I got home last night, the ankle was swollen and a bit purple. So today I will lay on the couch with icepacks and try to get the swelling back down.

The Friday night DISmeet in Columbus was a bust. Nobody else was able to come. When I got back to the motel, I called Helenabear and had the opportunity to speak with her as well as Merriweather (Nancy) and Beth and Dave. I had actually called and left Elaine voicemail and, when she called me back, my cell phone reception was poor, so I got up off the bed and walked towards the window of the room. I forgot that I wasn't wearing my aircast and I actually walked one step on my ankle. I was surprised that I didn't fall down. So my ankle does work (although I'm not supposed to put that kind of weight on it for at least two more weeks). It was great having the opportunity to be at the DISmeet in voice and spirit. Thanks too to Dan who called me the next day when he noticed that I had called him on Friday evening (even though I didn't leave voicemail).

If you do this again next year, perhaps I can arrange to be there. I sure hope so.

Have a great Sunday afternoon.

Our first Chicago YaYa is home. Glad you had a good time Lainey and glad the trip back was good and safe.

I have spent most of this afternoon straightening up the house and getting after my eldest son to get his report done for school. Its not due until Thursday but I don't know what the evenings this week hold for us with Grandmas death this morning. All plans are still up in the air right now. Everything is dependant on what the other two grandchildren can do about getting here for a funeral. There will be no showing because she was direct creamated. There will also be no burial here because she is being buried next to her husband in St. Louis. Dh and his dad are doing pretty well considering. Because of her Alzheimers she had long ago ceased being the grandma/mother they knew. Year by year she got worse and worse to the point where she knew no one. I guess they kind of preped for this moment. She had a long long life though. She was 99 and would have been 100 next month.

If the E bunny (me) ever decides to get the kids small handheld fans from the Disney Store again ya'll have my permission to SLAP ME UPSIDE THE HEAD!!!

Elaine I just PM'd you. I know sometimes we dont get the popup notices.

You know you are tired when paragraphs get fuzzy... no real catching up for me today. I just need to make sure that I have clothes good for tomorrow and then I can sleep.

So hi Karen, I'll try your post again tomorrow :p

Had a wonderful time....got about 12 hours of sleep in that 3 nights

Okay....we need Beth and Dave to check in so we know they made it home safely.

I'm sure tomorrow some pictures will start showing up.....most of mine are of the new additions to the stuffed branch of the family.....I think we spent more time at BaB then anywhere else! ;)

Night.....miss you all.....but glad to be back with the rest of the Yayas.
(Oh....my plane was delayed 2 hours.....so it was another VERY long day).
Off to sleep in my comfy bed :wave2:

Checking in---just got home! Flight was delayed out of Chicago nearly 2 hours. Bit of a rough ride home, was wondering if the pilot was trying to make us feel at home by hitting all the "potholes"!! Too tired to care now, gonna try and get some sleep. Will try and ketchup in the morning, or rather, later--it already IS morning for us.

Glad all of our Ya ya's are back home and tucked nice and snug back in there beds. Look forward to hearing about all of the trouble you caused in Chicago.
