Trip Chapter 6 - Finally heading to a park!
About time don't you think!
Slept beautifully last night and then the phone rang and woke us all from a deep sleep. I was afraid HG was going to answer it so I dove over him and hit the speaker button before he could pick it up.
Any guesses who it was?
Yep - it was Stitch and Mickey calling to wake us up for our first day at the parks!
Bounded out of bed yelling "get up, get up" and jumped into the shower. Threw a bag of clothes at the kids (remember how my obessive packing problem made me pack each day's clothes into a ziploc baggie complete with panties?) Yep, paying off now!
Before long we were dressed and heading out for breakie! I have no idea what we ate but it was something in the POP food court. I'll save you the pain and tell you we ate there every morning. There. No more suspence about that one!
Headed out to the bus stop and waited for our bus to Magic Kingdom!
Here are the girls and I!
I know we were crazy heading to Magic Kingdom on a Saturday but too bad. Its our first day here and no better way to start the trip then to walk through the gates and stare at the castle!
So waiting in line for our bus we had our very first Dis sighting! I was so darn excited to meet Annie! First Dis'er I meet and I know her! So darn cool! Her kids were adorable and they were heading to MK for her little guy's first haircut! So much fun!!
Bus came and we rode there and piled out. Went through the "no bags" line while HG went through the bag check. Met up on the other side and then it was time to try out our Keys to the Kingdom!
Okay, clearly there is a learning curve here. Finger scans? When did that happen? I know it has been 6 years since we were there but that took a minute to figure out and even longer to explain to Tink why she didn't get to scan her finger like the rest of us.
We were there just a few minutes before opening and so we waited by the arches for a bit. A CM came by and handed the kids each a handful of Mickey confetti which I quickly took 1/2 from each and stashed away for our scrapbook. The kids are used to this so turned some over without a fuss. Soon the train came by and the CMs all sang for us then was the countdown and we all threw our confetti and then we were off!
Came through the arches and stopped as the castle took our breath away!
So beautiful!
Nothing like that first sighting!
Sigh.
Wish I was there right now.
Anyways, once we collected ourselves we made a bee line for Tink's Treasures. I was hoping that our Tink would be able to wake up the real Tink at some point even though I knew it probably wouldn't be today. We weren't fast enough off the starting line!
Nope, not today. Another little girl got there first but we were a close second. We stayed to watch though. My Tink liked it but didn't feel the need to try again another day. Okay, fine by me!
We wanted to do Fantasyland first as those lines get ugly later in the day and we were there so why not!
Dumbo was first because we all know that is the slowest moving line in the planet!
Here is HG and Belle in a purple Dumbo
And Tink and I in our pink Dumbo. I know we are upside down and no, nothing funky happening to the ride. Just a self portrait and I don't have the energy right now to flip it around on photobucket!
After a spin on Dumbo we went to Peter Pan where I had my second Dis meeting in the line! So much fun!
After Peter Pan we did Small World, Winnie the Pooh, the Teacups and snow White. Pretty much did it all.
Then it was time for some "big girl" rides! Last time we were here the girls were too little for the "big girl" rides so they were eager to do them this time!
Went to Thunder Mountain first! This is my personal favourite! Weeeeeeee......so much fun! And no line up! Yes! This is looking good!
Next up was Splash Mountain which I hate! That drop just kills me. I love the ride up to that point but I don't like drops at all. Nope. Not one bit. BUT Tink really wanted to do it so I sucked it up and got into the log.
First bit it great. Love all the little drops and the singing animals but I can't get this sickening feeling out from my stomach. I *know* what is coming and there is nothing I can do about it right at that point.
Deep breath.
I can do this.
Weeee.....another little drop.
Then it happens. It is starting to get dark. I know we must be getting close!
Then we go up and I start looking around for a place to bail out and for a nano-second I actually consider it but then I'd leave poor Tink sitting there all by herself and she is little and needs someone to hang onto her!
Oh crap!
I am actually going to have to do this!
So I close my eyes for the last of the trip up the dark hill and hang on tight. Scruntch up as small as I can and brace my feet against the seat infront of us.
THEN SCREAM MY GUTS OUT!!!!!
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Guess what? I didn't die!!!!
Woohoo!!!
I got a little wet but not too bad so I am happy.
For another nano-second.
Then the water shoots at us and soaks me.
Then we come around the corner and the wall of water gets me again!
I am now officially soaked!
Soaked I tell you!
And here's the thing....
you know that pink dress I am wearing?
Apparently it becomes see-through when wet.
Completlely see through.
Good thing I am wearing matching bra and panties because everyone in the park that day got a view of them.
Here we are after I went into the washroom to dry off a bit.
Yes, that is dried off. I know I am still completely soaked but I wasn't giving you all a show at that point. I felt the need to return the scene of the crime to take a pic!
Here is our photo - taken ghetto style!
I figured at this point a nice long walk in the sun to dry me off would do us all some good so we headed over to Tomorrowland. The crew wanted to check out Stitch's Great Escape and I was still soaked so they headed in and I sat out in the sun to dry off!
Ahhh....I love the heat!
After one unfortunate run in with a chilidog and a little blue alien we met up and headed off to battle some aliens of our own with Buzz!
Here Belle was the first of us to be put to work by Disney and she was handed the red timing pass!
Waited about 10 mins and we were aboard and heading off to battle the Emperor Zurg! HG of course kicked our butts on this one.

Ya, he's a computer geek through and through!
By now we are getting hungry so headed over to Cosmic Ray's where we split 2 orders of chicken and ribs, a large iced tea, a large lemonade and 2 chocolate cakes! Good amount of food for the 4 of us. Sonny Eclipse entertained us while we ate!
That's it for tonight folks. I am tired. I'll try to get more up tomorrow!
