The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Been away from the forums for a bit, getting the Disney bug again.

Just saying hi to all those WL fans out there.

Which do you WL vets feel is the better wing? The North one over the laundry, roaring fork, etc, or the one closer to the buses?

And what are the pros and cons of the different courtyard views (i.e. the inside facing ones vs. the DVC facing ones)?

Thanks :)

Having never stayed in the south wing, but loved our north wing room. Very close to the laundry (if that's a good thing ;) ), roaring fork, & closer to the boat to MK. Also an excellent view of the lake & the pool. I love the WL! :goodvibes :lovestruc :cloud9:

Just booked WL from Nov 10-14 using the bounceback rate of 30% off. We have stayed at AKL for the last 3 trips and decided to do something different.

We did a quick driveby on the way home today of WL and liked what we saw. We booked a courtyard view without knowing anything about the place, and it seems like we made the right choice.

Looking forward to staying there in November.

And now...back to page 15 of this thread. Maybe by the time we check in, I will be through this whole thread!

There's similarities between the two resorts and each has it's fans...some diehard! That said, I've not had a courtyard room and can't speak to it, but any room I have will lead me to that lobby!! My favorite part of the WL!!
Going back in 11 days, with another trip book for Dec.!

Hey grannyminnie --we will be there in 12 days:wave2: maybe we will bump into each other. I am so excited:cool1: ...I am a little jealous about your Dec. trip...did I say a little, I meant a lot:rolleyes1

Thanks for the bump! Good morning also. Tomorrow is our 180 day mark!:cool1: Thanks to the wonderful itinerary planners for club level guests, our ADR's are already booked. I now can just sit back and enjoy the day tomorrow- not rush the kids off to school so I can make ADRs. We are staying at a deluxe room, since there is 6 of us. This will be our 2nd stay in a deluxe room. We loved it last time. It was a bit cramped though, but we're not in the room much at all. I thought it would be better than worry if our rooms would be connecting or not. This will be our 5th trip to the world since we had kids, 4 at WL. We strayed off to the poly during visit #2, as I was 5 months pregnant with DS #2. We wanted the monorail. While we liked the Poly, we couldn't wait to "come home" again to WL. I've taken pictures of the kids each trip standing in front of Humphrey and the gang totum, and its so neat to see how they grow. Can't wait for this years pic!

We're heading off to the WL in a little over 2hrs......:yay:  :woohoo: I absolutely can't wait. We've never stayed at a deluxe resort, but we're spoiling ourselves this one time so we can go to the Flower & Garden Festival. Thank you to all that posted pics, etc. :goodvibes

Question about the bunk bed rooms? Is there one queen bed w/the bunk beds? I hope so, otherwise it would be very crowded!

I'm considering staying at WL Bunk Bed room vs Coronado Springs for this coming vacation. I've stayed there before and enjoyed it but didn't care much for the small food court. Anyway, I have a teenage boy and younger girl and they need separate beds so the bunk beds would work out great for us.

What time do the boats start running in the morning (from WL)? We have a 7:05am breakfast reservation on our MK day, will the boats/buses run early enough to get us to Chef Mickey's? If not and we had to drive to the contemporary could we just park there and then monorail over to MK? Or would we have to drive back to our resort and take transportation to the MK from there? Hope this isn't too confusing. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I posted this on the main page but no one answered me. Hope you guys can help! Thanks

Yes the rooms that have the Bunk Beds also have one Queen size bed.

The Lodge has two full service restaurants so Roaring Fork never was intended nor has it ever been a Food Court. Originally it has just for snacks, they have expanded the menus over the years to try and accommodate guest request for quick service food. They have expanded as much as possible but there just isn't any more room to make it larger.

The time I have posted on page 1, has the smaller resort motor launch starting at 6:45am. Schedules due change the 6:45 time was posted during EST, now that we have changed to Daylight Savings Time I'm not sure if they have adjusted to the new time. :confused3
I will be at the Lodge April 20th so I'll check on any changes then.

The smaller boats are also effected by the weather, so rain or fog may delay start times. If they start running at 6:45am you should be able to catch the boat to the Contemporary and make your reservation in time.

Because the Contemporary is so close to the Magic Kingdom they limit parking at the resort. If you have dinning reservations they will give you a parking pass for a few hours, you shouldn't park there and then visit the Magic Kingdom. The resort has limited parking for their resort guest.

No need to take the resort monorail around (Unless you just want to ride) to the Magic Kingdom, you can walk much faster just follow the sidewalk around to the entrance.

I know that the buses start running early for breakfast ADR's, but with your time being so early I just don't know. :confused3

When is your trip? I can check for you but not sure when your trip is.

I think I would just grab a taxi for a few dollars and not worry about being late, if the resort boats aren't running that early during your stay.

Thank you so much for all of your information. The day in question is May 6th, it's a Tuesday and not very far away! We are so excited as this is our first trip ever! Thanks again!

I'll be @ WDW April 20-25 so I will try and check all the information out for you and let you know which option will be best for you. I'll try to post as soon as I return, so you will have an idea before your trip.
