just looked at the calendar ..... 31 days until we are Welcomed Home again!!!!:cool1:

We are not telling the kids until the day we leave. I am so excited, plan to start packing in the next week or so.

We are usually at Disney in the summer, can anyone tell me the best type of clothes to pack? I am thinking mostly summer clothes, maybe a sweater or two in case it gets a little chilly at night.

Some advice from all you May WL Vets would be great.

TIA,

Robin

...how awesome! I kept our vaca a secret once - boy, was THAT hard!

Yes the rooms that have the Bunk Beds also have one Queen size bed.

The Lodge has two full service restaurants so Roaring Fork never was intended nor has it ever been a Food Court. Originally it has just for snacks, they have expanded the menus over the years to try and accommodate guest request for quick service food. They have expanded as much as possible but there just isn't any more room to make it larger.

Thanks for the info!

I told my DD-11 last night about getting the WL bunk bed room and she screamed! She is so excited!

I think I did this wrong ...I was trying just to quote this part of the sentence...
Anywho

That is so cool!!! I always wanted to do that but was never able to pull off the surprise. I tried 2x but couldnt hold back like a month before or so::rolleyes: O.K. I think my husband and I might like Disney more than the kids:scared1: I am sure there is a nice 12 step program for me somewhere..."Hi my name is Robin and I am obsessed with Disney":rotfl: As far as what to pack we usually go the end of April or early May and summer clothes and a few sweaters and maybe some capris or leggins would great. Maybe 1 pr of pants for the night for the kids. I hope you have a great trip and good luck with the surprise for the kids!!!!!

There are two months that I feel that are the perfect times to visit here in Florida May & October. The weather is perfect:
Avg High 88
Avg Low 66
Our daily torrential afternoon thundershowers usually start toward the end of the month with the most precipitation on average occuring in June. You will still need to bring rain poncho's because we will have some showers.

You will not need sweaters maybe a hoodie or long sleeve shirt.

Have a Great Trip. :cool1:

This is good to hear! We'll be there in 18 days (April 28-May 5) and I am really hoping for better weather than my first trip which was last September (lower-mid 90's and HUMID) It didn't ruin our trip..but I wish it would have been a bit cooler and a lot less humid!

May is just so nice, the crowd level is down because all the Spring Breaks are over and it is to close to the end of our school year for many locals to take their children out of school.

When I was still working it seemed each day in May I would tell my friend, "WOW this is a perfect DISNEY DAY." May was always the hardest time of the year to go to work everyday knowing WDW was 2 hours away.

Thanks to all of you for the advice. I am having a hard time not blabbing to the kids, but DH and I are really trying hard. Hopefully we can pull it off.

It is 70 degrees her in NY today.... perfect WDW weather

I too am like a Disney addict! When I got the Little Mermaid tattoo, it pretty much confirmed my disney addiction!

Just booked WL from Nov 10-14 using the bounceback rate of 30% off. We have stayed at AKL for the last 3 trips and decided to do something different.

We did a quick driveby on the way home today of WL and liked what we saw. We booked a courtyard view without knowing anything about the place, and it seems like we made the right choice.

Looking forward to staying there in November.

And now...back to page 15 of this thread. Maybe by the time we check in, I will be through this whole thread!

We'll be there at the same time-in the same view! :goodvibes We stayed at AKL last time too (our 1st trip). The lodge looks amazing, doesn't it? I'm so excited! :yay:

....ohhhh, you're from "Lawng-Guyland"...! [ :teeth: ]

For the last 11 years or so....Born & raised in Brooklyn though! When I say Long Island with my Brooklyn accent, it still sounds like you say it above!;)

...my DSis-i-L is from 'broo-ka-leen' too...from Bensonhurst....

Just back from our first trip ever to WL & absolutely loved it. Thanks so much to the original OP for all the information in this thread. It really helped alot!! The only issue we had at all was that we couldn't find our room.....LOL!! We had a ground floor courtyard view out by the pool, but when you leave the lobby you actually have to find the elevator that goes down to get to the room & that was the challenge!! Room was great, first time we've ever managed to get a king size bed (and we didn't even request it) in all our onsite stays!! Loved the night time water parade which we viewed from the windy/cool beach and the view of the fireworks from the beach. It was spectacular. Never got a chance to get in the pool - wanted to try the hot tubs, but they were always packed with little kids (some in diapers) so we gave it a pass!! I'm sure we'll be spoiled now & never want to stay anywhere else - it was just so convenient to everything!! :cutie:

....:scared: well, I don't blame you on THAT!

I had a question about room requests. I see so much information about preferred views at WL, but not any specifics on VWL.

We are booked for a 1 bedroom at VWL. I don't want to go out on my balcony and just see trees or roads or parking lots. I don't mind looking at a creek, a pool, a lake, a meadow, a path or anything that may have some "action". So what should I request? Any particular building or a name for such a preferred view?

I would appreciate any help here. I don't want to be disappointed by a view of trees, roads, etc.

TIA!

Sorry but you may be disappointed with your stay at the Villas. There is only one building, 90% of the views are of the woods.

Most DVC members that own at Wilderness Lodge prefer a view of the woods. You will not have a view of the parking lot or road but there is a good possibility you will have a view of the Woods. Some units have obstructed views throught the trees of the lake or may over look Hidden Springs Pool but it would be the luck of the room assignment with your request.

There isn't a preferred view category to request or to book.

You may want to request near the elevator overlooking the pool but remember this would just be a request not guaranteed.

I hope this doesn't make you doubt your decision to stay at the Villas, it is a beautiful resort but I don't want you to be disappointed either.

Eeyore's My Favorite

I'm so glad you enjoyed your first deluxe stay and that it was at Wilderness Lodge. Hopefully the diaper-age children were using the required to wear swim piapers. :confused3

A tip for your next stay if the hot tubs are too busy over at the Lodge, just walk over to the Villas the hot tub there is usually empty, it is also rather secluded.
